Happy Easter peeps. I hope you are all enjoying the holidays. I have another product review post for you my dears. This time, it is all about NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray and Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer.

NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray

After exhausting my MAC setting spray, I decided to try a different brand and NYX came to mind. I have recently fallen in love with NYX, I reviewed an NYX lipstick some weeks ago, and I can testify to how great the lipstick was, so naturally, I was eager to try out another product from the brand.

Here is what the NYX has to say about this setting spray –

Demand perfection! For that fresh dewy glow that lasts, the NYX Makeup Setting Spray – Dewy is lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stays put.

Here are my thoughts on the NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray:

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer

I ran out of my Instablur some weeks ago, and I felt like I needed a primer change. I have used The Body Shop Instablur primer for years now, and I decided to try out Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer after reading about it in this month’s Cosmopolitan.

Here is what Elizabeth Arden has to say about this product:

Prime and perfect skin with a vital, multi-tasking step to make the most of your makeup. The smoothing triple blurring complex minimizes the look of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, blurring imperfections to give skin an instantly retouched look. Time-release skin-balancing technology helps control shine and maintain moisture for an impeccably flawless appearance. Formulated for all skin types and tones, Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer improves the longevity and performance of foundation to help keep makeup looking fresh and color-true all day.

PROS

  1. This primer left my skin makeup-ready. My entire makeup, starting with my foundation, went on my face nicely.
  2. My makeup stayed on all day, and I only needed to apply a fingertip amount of the primer.
  3. It is great for all skin types, and tones. It is colourless, and almost fragrance-free
  4. I had a matte flawless finish all day.
  5. It is easily accessible in stores and online at Elizabeth Arden, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Boots, and many other stores.

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Primer

CONS

  1. The price, it costs £28 for a 30ml tube, so it is on the high side, but it is worth every penny.

I recommend the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer to every woman. This is easily the best primer I have ever used in my life.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Halloween Makeup: Grumpy Old Troll

IMG_3589

Hey guys. Welcome to October. Halloween is round the corner and I have a makeup look to inspire you this season. This is my first Halloween look ever, I have never tried creating one before, so I am proud to say this ‘grumpy old troll look’ is all mine. I created this look to inspire anyone who might need a makeup idea for Halloween and I am looking forward to creating many more Halloween makeup looks, and sharing them on the blog, so watch this space.

I achieved this look using my regular makeup products, which are mentioned and pictured below, as well as FreshLook ColorBlends contact lenses in Gemstone Green courtesy of Vision Direct.

Products/Steps Taken

To get the Grumpy Old Troll look for Halloween, I started off with a clean, moisturised face, I applied a bit of The Body Shop Instablur with my fingers to prep and prime my face and get it ready for the many colours about to come. I applied some Marykay medium coverage foundation in Bronze 504 using a Marykay flat foundation brush to even out my skin tone.

Then, I applied a whole lot of MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15 (which is a shade lighter) using a MAC concealer brush for a white effect.

Next, I created black and thick looking eyebrows using a Rimmel dark brown brow pencil to line the brows, The Body Shop Brow and Liner kit in Brunette and Brown shade to fill out the brows and a Rimmel Exaggerate black eyeliner to paint the brows black.

I tidied up the eyebrows using a Revlon brush with a bit of concealer to get rid of any excesses at the edges, I lined my eyes with a black Rimmel Soft Khol Kajal Eye Pencil, and applied MAC Greensmoke (a green smoky shade) and Electric Eel eyeshadows (a shimmering blue shade) with an angled shading MAC brush and blended both colours together with a MAC tapered blending brush.

Next, I lined my eyes with a black Rimmel Exaggerate eye liner, and added an exaggerated flick.

Next, I applied some more MAC Greensmoke eyeshadow underneath my lower eyelashes for a more dramatic effect, dabbed some Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NW45 all over the face with a The Body Shop powder blush, applied a MAC lip primer to smoothen the lips, and then shaded the lips all over with a Rimmel black lip pencil. The lips were also lined downward for a grumpy look.

Next, to contour and highlight, I applied a MAC Swiss Chocolate powder blush to my cheekbones for some definition, and The Body Shop Baked To Last Bronzer in a bronze shade: warm glow just above my cheekbones, under my eyebrows, down my nose and my chin for a healthy glow.

Then I put in my ColorBlends Gemstone Green contact lenses and applied several coats of Rimmel Extra WOW Lash Extreme Black mascara to both upper and lower lashes.

Finally, I decided to step the look up a bit and added some more of the MAC Greensmoke eyeshadow underneath my right eye and lined the edges with a MAC Carbon eyeshadow.
