5 Disneyland Paris Tips

We visited Disneyland Paris a few years ago. It was a fun trip. We had the lovely opportunity of exploring the entire park in 2 days and I am seriously looking forward to taking the kids. The kiddies have visited Paris a few times but we have not had the opportunity to take them to Disney. I have been thinking of doing just that and I am hoping we can visit as a family this year.

Disneyland Paris is a dream vacation destination for many families. There is a lot to see and enjoy, and kids love it. I remember watching the parade at night and seeing how excited the kids were. We even had a child next to us, crying in awe as she saw one of her favourite character, I think the character was Minnie Mouse.

Disneyland Paris Tips

If you have plans of visiting the beautiful park, you may find these tips very useful –

Wear comfy shoes

The best shoes to wear to Disneyland Paris are very comfy shoes. I go for flat shoes but not flats. So comfy trainers would work great. There is plenty of walking involved so heels are a no-no if you want to have an amazing time and not focus on uncomfortable shoes that make you want to comfy bare feet.

Go with a crossbody bag or a backpack and camera

The last thing you want to deal with a heavy bag while exploring Disneyland. I prefer to go with a crossbody bag to keep all my valuables. A backpack would work if you are going with younger kids and need to take essentials with you like nappies and change of clothes. Also good to go with a camera if you have one. So you can capture all the amazing memories.

Bring a push chair with you

If you have younger kids, make sure you come with a push chair. Exploring the park can be tiring for young kids, so have a push chair to ferry them around when they get tired is smart. There are push chairs available to hire but they are usually pricey and very basic, so do come with yours if possible and a bike lock.

Take your time

We couldn’t see the whole park in a day. It took us 2 full days to explore the entire park and those days were very long. I would recommend 3 days to explore the whole park and all the fun it brings, especially if you are going with younger kids. You don’t want to rush the experience so best to make the time and enjoy the fun.

Bring snacks

The last thing you need is dealing with “hangry” (hungry + angry) toddlers. So make sure you have your children’s favourite snacks at the ready. Also take snacks for yourself if you can as food and drinks can be pricey in the park.

Portugal Travel Diaries

Here are the final set of pictures from our half term trip to Algarve Portugal. We also visited Faro and Lagos. It was a fun relaxing trip. We had a great time and I wish I could go back and soak in some more sunshine. The weather in Cheshire has been dreadful lately. How is the weather where you are? This Cheshire weather is making me miss Algarve so much, but I will survive until my next sunny vacation.

While in Portugal, we decided to visit Lagos. We have heard so much about the city so we decided to make the most of our time there. Driving down to Lagos from Algarve. The kiddies always enjoy road trips as long as they are fed and have some form of entertainment. It took us around an hour to get Lagos, thanks to Google maps and our Enterprise rental car.

The city of Lagos was cool to see. I am happy I got great shots to treasure for life. I could clearly see the similarities between Lagos Portugal and Lagos Nigeria. It was a fun experience all around. We had the opportunity to walk around the centre of the city and soak in all it had to offer. The only issue we had was when the kiddies found a ride they wanted to get on, and us not having our wallets on us. That was the end of our sight seeing. Kids have the power like that….

Our ride back to Algarve was ok. Having said that, we found that many roads didn’t have street lights so they were really dark. Good M is an experienced driver and has driven in many countries. I won’t advise anyone who is not very confident driving to drive here as the roads can be very different with lots of roads and uncountable roundabouts. There was a roundabout on almost every single road we went on.

It was a short but fun trip. I know we will be visiting Portugal again in the future. Probably a different part of the country. I love exploring Europe. So far we have been to Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Paris (a few times), Barcelona, Milan, Dublin, Edinburgh, and now I can add Algarve to the list of countries in Europe I have visited. I would love to visit the Scandinavian countries next, maybe that would happened for us next year. M has been to most of the Scandinavian countries I want to visit already because his work takes him all over the world. And he has only good things to say about them.

We spent our last evening at the Beach. It was quiet as most people had left already which was just what I needed. I am not a fan of crowded places, especially beaches and swimming pools. The Kiddies had fun posing for pictures, playing with sand and water. All I wanted to do was to walk around  and admire the beautiful beach. It was even more beautiful in the evening.

Airport travel tips I picked up along the way

Travelling is fun but it can be stressful at the same time. It is usually a bit more stressful when you are travelling with kids as you have to pack more stuff. And kids usually hardly ever cooperate or move quickly. I did most of my travel before the kiddies but I have also done some travel with them because I the travel fun outweighs the stress. Travel is one of my favourite things to do. I have visited a couple of cities/countries over the years, which is how I picked up various airport travel tips to help make our adventure less stressful.

Here are some of the tips –

Pack light & weigh before getting to the airport

It can be tricky to pack light especially when you have kids involved. But it is important to only pack what you need to reduce the amount of boxes you take away on holiday. The last thing you would need is to drag boxes with stuff you won’t use or be stuck with excess luggage at the airport. The fear of excess luggage is the beginning of travel wisdom. The fear makes me weigh my boxes before arriving at the airport so I can rearrange the boxes if needed. We have a travel scale we use to weigh boxes and it is usually spot on.

Hire a taxi to the airport

Hiring a taxi to the airport is the best way to get there without stress. Driving to the airport means you have to load your car yourself. It also means you have pack it yourself at the airport, which can be frustrating if you are running late and unable to find a parking space quickly.

Parking far away from the airport with the hope of catching an airport shuttle is very dangerous. Apart from the stress of packing a car and catching the shuttle, the shuttle may be running late. We experienced this first hand earlier this year when we booked an airport shuttle, the shuttle was over 30 minutes late, and we almost missed our flight. The best way to get to the airport is to go in a taxi.

Label your boxes

Label all your boxes before getting to the airport. Make sure you also mark your boxes so it is easy for you to spot them from far. I mistakenly carried the wrong box some years ago. The box was exactly the same as mine. And the padlock was the same as well (we both use the padlock that came with the box), and I only realised I got the wrong box after getting to the hotel. I bet you can imagine how stressful it was for me. We had to head back to the airport the next day to return box and I got mine later that day as well. It is one mistake that I can’t afford to make again.

Check in at home

We always check in and book our seats 24 hours before our flight. That makes our life easier when we get to the airport as we only have to do a bag drop. Checking in before you get to the airport is even more important when you are getting on a full flight or via a busy airport. Flights to London and other popular destinations are usually busy, so ensure you check in beforehand.

Get to the airport early

Getting to the airport helps as we are not stressed on the travel day. Kids never move quickly so having. few hours to play with works great for us. It also means we can get something to eat if needed and slot in some duty-free shopping as well.
