If you are thinking of moving house, Christmas is definitely not the best time to do this. Everyone is busy setting up their house for the season and getting ready for the big day. Moving house should be the last thing on anyone’s mind. But if you do have to move house, then you have to move. The best way is to ensure your move goes as smoothly as possible.
Here are 6 tips that may come in handy for when you need to move house during the festive season and beyond.
Move as soon as possible
If you are moving house in December, it is best to do so as early in the month as possible, so you can relax in your new house and enjoy the festivities. You don’t want to be dealing with boxers and trying to settle down in your new house on Christmas Eve. If you can get the move out-of-the-way weeks before Christmas, then it makes the whole experience better for everyone, especially the little ones.
Hire the professionals
When it comes to moving house, it is always better when you have professionals dealing with the home move. It makes the whole process go smoothly and quickly once you have experienced hands doing the job. I always recommend hiring a moving company to get the move done. They cost money but it is money well spent in my eyes. A good moving company take the stress away from moving house.
Label all boxes
Label all boxes with the right information so you know what is in each box and which room they are to go in. It means less clutter as boxes will be moved into the rooms they should go into straight away. Also, unpacking would be a lot easier and faster.
Sort out childcare
If you have kids, and they are not in school or nursery, ensure you have a form of childcare to keep them safe and engaged elsewhere. The last thing you would need is to have kids about when moving house. It is not safe for them and it is a lot more stressful having to worry about the kids while dealing with moving house.
Get the Christmas decor up
It is best to have the Christmas decorations separate from other furniture, and ready to be set up once you are in your new home. The last thing you would need is to start looking for the Christmas Tree lights or ornaments. Decorating your new home as soon as you can would put the magic back into Christmas for the whole family.
Arrange the bedrooms and kitchen
The first set of rooms to be sorted are the bedroom, with the kitchen following closely. That way you can abandon the clutter and get a good night sleep when you have had enough.
