We chatted about shower sins many of us are probably committing the other day, and it was well received. Many people are guilty of these shower sins without even knowing they are sins. Which is why I am writing a hair wash sins you may be committing post today. Here are some of the popular hair wash sins.

You rinse out your shampoo/conditioner immediately

When washing your hair, you should leave your shampoo in for some minutes before washing it off. I massage the shampoo into my hair for a few minutes to get my hair follicles stimulated. When it comes to conditioner, I massage it in and leave it in under shower cap for about 5 minutes. This way I reap the full benefits of the conditioner, and my hair thanks me for it. Myself and my daughter use the SheaMoisture brand for our hair products and we adore the products. The hair products are so good for our hair. Here is the range we are currently using – SheaMoisture.

Washing your face before your hair

When I wash my hair, I make sure I wash my face as the very minute. This way I get all the dirt from my hair off my face. Washing your face before your hair means you would miss getting rid of all the hair residue from the shampoo and conditioner. And that could lead to blocked facial pores, which would cause other skin issues.

You don’t moisturise your hair immediately

Just like with the skin, you should moisture your hair with a leave-in conditioner or any other hair products you use when your hair is damp. That way the hair absorbs all the good stuff from the hair products quickly. Waiting to do this when the hair is dry isn’t a great idea.

Washing your hair too often or not often enough

Many of us are guilty or washing our hair too often or not often enough. You need to get the right hair wash balance for your type of hair. Washing your hair too frequently could lead to dryness and breakage. While not washing it regularly enough to lead to dandruff and other hair issues. Strike the right balance depending on your hair type.

  1. I should try your tip of leaving hair conditioner for 5 minutes before rinsing off. I usually only keep it in for two minutes. I will do that and see how it would help make my hair look healthier.

  2. Ok, I’m an expert because of my natural hair lol. It’s kinky and coily so I was every week or every 2 weeks in winter because I tie a scarf daily. Finger detangle your hair a you wash and massage scalp too. Deep condition every week or 2 and use a steam cap. After leave-in, apply pomade and oil last then twist to air dry. Hydrate hair every couple of days if dry and moisturize too.

  3. OMG, I never let the shampoo sit in my hair. I have been natural for 6 years now, I always do deep conditioning but never let the shampoo. You learn something new every day and thanks for sharing this.
