Content creation is fun for me. I enjoy publishing blog posts on Fashion and Style Police and videos on my YouTube Channel. I also enjoy regularly updating my social media pages. It is not a chore for me. It doesn’t feel like a job sometimes. I enjoyed creating content on the web long before I took it up as a career. When it comes to content creation, to stand out from the saturated market, you have to build your own identity. What does that even mean? It means you are unique; bringing something new to the table.
Here are 4 ways you can go about building your own identity as a content creator.
Just start
Many people never really start because they are afraid of failing or people laughing at them. I rather try and fail, than to not try at all because I will keep wondering what would have happened if I had just started. As for people laughing, let them laugh. If you keep at it and improve as you go along, they won’t laugh for long. You may be laughing all the way to the bank instead!
Be yourself
To succeed as a content creator, you have to be yourself, everyone else is taken. You need to write about articles that resonate with you and those you have good knowledge about. So don’t blog about beauty and fashion, if you have no clue how to apply makeup or put an outfit together properly. Don’t vlog about gaming, just because it is trendy on YouTube if you have no real interest in it. It may take some time but then the cracks will start to show and then you will have no creative content to publish.
Being yourself will help you thrive and you will find your people who would love to read or watch whatever you create. Making the most of social media would also help you get the word out there, and Twicsy methods for buying TikTok followers is a great place to start.
Don’t force creativity
Creativity is smashing together two ideas that have never been connected. It is not talent. It is a way of operating. Creativity is intelligence having fun. I got these definitions from a book I am currently reading – FLEX: The Modern Woman’s Handbook by Annie Auerbach and it explains the concept of creativity perfectly. Being creative should come naturally. It is not something you should have to force. If you have to force yourself to come up with blog posts and video content, then you are probably in the wrong job/hobby.
Follow your passions
You should follow your passions all the time. It is easy to tell when someone enjoys what they do. It shows on their faces, in the quality of content they produce, and in their writing tone. If you want to succeed as a content creator, follow your passions and create content in line with your passions. That way everything you do will flow naturally.

Very useful post, can be hard to keep the focus on you and your content when there is so much out there. Good to stay true to you.
Yes it is. Thanks Rachel.
Grest advice. There’s no need to conform to a standard. Being yourself takes you so much further.
Yes it does Brooke.
I completely agree – when you find your passion it shines through everything you do online 🙂
Yes Helen 😊
Great advice. You have to be yourself otherwise people can see through it.
Yes. Thanks Laura.
I just write for the enjoyment of it. If you force it too much it’s clear when people read it
Very true.

Great article, definitely just need to be yourself
Exactly. Thanks Jenni.
Great article. I hate blogs where the creator obviously knows nothing about the subject. On another forum someone asked if it was alright to write travel posts about a place they had not been to yet?
Oh my! That is crazy.
Hi just as oscar Wilde said ‘just be you because everyone else is taken’
Very true.
🤭🤭🤭oh My God you are like my WordPress fashionista🤭🤭
It took me a while to find my niche, but once you do it has so many rewards
Ah lovely.
