It is the Easter weekend, and we are having a very relaxing break. We don’t have any massive plans because we just got back from our 2 week break in Essex and London some days ago. I should write a post about our holiday in the South of England. We had the opportunity to visit many cool places, and the kiddies had a blast. The posts on our trip will be up sometime next week hopefully. For now it is all about Easter. What plans do you have for the Easter break?

It is our first weekend back since our holiday so we have a bit to get done and some good old rest. Rest is always good, and I plan to be getting a lot of that this Easter weekend. The weather has been amazing here in Cheshire. It looks like we will be skipping spring again this year. I remember it being this warm last April and it carried on until September. Let’s see if it happens again this year.

Alala by Aken

For this outfit post, I am taking it back to the roots. I am wearing an African Printed Bomber Jacket made in Nigeria. I really like this piece. The material is really colourful and pretty. I also like the design a lot. The embroidery design finishes off the look really well. It is a very stylish piece, great for the season. The fashion designer – Alala by Aken, did a great job here. I have another piece from this creative Nigerian Fashion Designer, and I will be showing that off in the next few days. So keep reading.

Now back to this gorgeous piece, I found this piece very easy to style. A pair of black jeans, sunglasses and trainers completed the look. This is definitely one look I know I will be recreating a lot this spring/summer season. What do you think of it?

Happy Easter Everyone! Let’s remember the reason for the season.

Key Tips on How to Choose the Perfect Designer Dress for An Upcoming Wedding

Everyone wants to look good in wedding photos that’s why one of any couple’s considerations in their wedding preparation is getting a good wedding photographer like those in Shotkit wedding photography. Not only will posing in your best angle help you achieve great looks in the photos, but the dress you wear also plays a role.

If you know the wedding dress code, the setting, and some styling tips, you should be able to find the perfect wedding guest dress and make sure you look perfect in the wedding photos. You can also get professional help from The Volte Wedding Dress Hire.

Here are some tips on how to shop for the best designer dress for an upcoming wedding:

Know the dress code and follow it.

Confirming your attendance to the invitation means that you are agreeing to follow the dress code given in the invite. Naturally, you’d want to stick to the dress code to avoid being the odd person in the group. You wouldn’t want to stick out either for wearing an inappropriate dress to the wedding.

Dress code terms can be confusing so here are some things to remember about the most common dress codes:

  • White tie

A white tie dress code is not common among modern wedding ceremonies, except if the groom or the bride has a title. Women should wear floor-length gowns and jewelry. One thing to remember is that this dress code also comes with a certain level of modesty and tradition, so avoid low necklines and high slits.

  • Black tie

A black-tie wedding is also a dressy occasion but is more flexible. Men are to wear tuxedos and women, evening gowns, but this dress code can also allow other suits and dresses. You don’t have to blow your budget and buy the most expensive dress; you can still wear the best dress you own. However, there are many gowns that you can purchase or rent online for you to look the best dressed.

  • Cocktail

A cocktail event is less formal than a black tie one. Cocktail-length dresses are usually shorter than evening gowns, and come with more embellishments. Find elegant lace dresses with a touch of glamour for this dress code.

  • No dress codes

If the dress code is not specified, try looking for an outfit that is appropriate for the setting. For example, a hotel wedding would require a more formal attire compared to a beach or backyard wedding. If you are really confused, you can always ask for help. Ask other guests who are attending or the maid of honor to avoid troubling the bride.

Choose a classic dress.

It’s always safe to choose classical silhouettes and shapes to wear on a wedding. Think about the kind of dresses you would regularly wear but in an expensive fabric and an elegant cut. Attending a wedding gives you the perfect chance to splurge on a designer dress.

Pick a neutral-colored dress.

This way, you can also wear the dress to other occasions. Consider getting beige, black, or muted pastels. However, you should choose a dress that looks less bridal-like, which is discussed in the next tip.

Avoid looking like the bride.

Only the bride should wear white. To avoid the embarrassment of being mistaken as the bride by other guests, stay away from dresses in cream, off white, ivory or pale blue colors.

  • You should also consider this when the bride is wearing a different dress or when attending a wedding of a different culture. For example, wearing a red dress in a traditional Chinese wedding would be a major mistake.
  • To avoid the bride’s color palette, choose dresses with prints on a dark background. A black dress with a contrasting print is also an interesting option.
  • Also, check out the bridesmaids’ dress color and avoid wearing the same.

Choose to stay low-profile.

This day is not about you and wearing an outfit that will steal the attention from the bride is rude.

  • It would be best to avoid sparkly or metallic dresses. Instead, wear a brooch or necklace to add a more delicate shine.
  • Avoid wearing a dress with a revealing neckline or a very short skirt, especially if the wedding venue is in a place of worship.
  • You also should stay away from loud prints and catchy embellishments.

Stay comfortable but not overly casual.

Avoid wearing shorts, denim, cargo pants, or sweats. Faded clothes, shirts with writing, and clothing that looks like pajamas are not suitable when attending a wedding. If you are going to a casual outdoor wedding on a warm day, choose lightweight fabrics such as linen and cotton. Be careful in using sheer fabrics because sweat can make them transparent.

Closing Thoughts

Finding the perfect designer wedding guest dress shouldn’t have to be tricky. If you know the dress code and the given tips, you should find one in no time. If the wedding doesn’t specify a dress code, check out the wedding ceremony venue to know the level of formality to consider in your dress. Finally, seek advice from a few wedding guests who you know are coming to the wedding when you’re still confused.

Outfit Post – My Happy Place

Hey Fashion Lovers! How are we? The weather has been up and down here in Cheshire but the sunshine is slowly wining. It is started to feel a lot like spring now, which is amazing. Good to know the cold chilly weather is now behind us. I am looking forward to wearer lighter layers and basking in the sunshine. It felt like winter went on for ages. So I am happy we have some warmer weather. How is the weather at your end?

I got this stunning blouse as a gift some weeks ago, and I am glad I finally got the chance to wear it. Normally, I shy away from tops/blouses like this piece, but it was different with this particular piece. As soon as I wore it, it felt good, it looked good. I also found it very easy to style. I went for a high waist pair of jeans and heels for some much-needed height, and I think they did the trick. What do you think of this look?

My afro hair also came out to play. I am getting more and more comfortable rocking my nappy hair, and I am loving this new-found confidence. Being programmed to think your natural hair isn’t beautiful and desired is no more my reality. I have found my happy place. Having said that, I still enjoy wearing wigs and switching up my look every now and again. Variety is the spice of life.
