How To Be A Successful Fashion/Style Blogger

Hey everyone. Please don’t take this post too seriously. I am not claiming to be an expert in these things, I have only been blogging for two odd years. It takes hundreds and hundreds of blogging years to become an expert in fashion blogging.

Successful fashion and style bloggers all over the world abide by the following rules:

1. Strike A Pose

Pose

Posing for the camera should come natural to a true fashion/style blogger, You have to give America Next Top Models a run for their money if you want to have a successful fashion blogging career. The camera should be your friend.

2. Invest In A Stylish Wardrobe

There is no point posing in outfits from three seasons ago. Your wardrobe has to be updated every season with the new ‘IT’ pieces. Even if it means maxing out all your credit cards. Your fashion blogging career will thank you for it.

3. Get A Photographer Boyfriend/Husband

There is no point in having a striking pose and a designer packed wardrobe if you have no one to photograph you in them. Having a professional photographer ‘boyfriend’ is a must.Even if you have to beg or borrow.

4. Spam Spam Spam

Block Spam or Unwanted Comments in Blogger

Leave one word comments like wow, beautiful, stylish on famous blogs all over the world. Remember to leave your links multiple times below the comment just to pass the message across.

5. You Must Attend Fashion Shows

Fashion Show

Even if it means just standing outside the venue. Just make sure you put on the craziest outfit in your closet, put your sunnies on, no matter the weather and get your poses right. No one needs to know you never got in.

7. Buy Followers

Before you max out your credit card, put some cash towards buying followers on social media. What is the point in following all these rules if no one follows you? The figures speak for themselves, even if majority of your followers are from India.

6. Fake It Till You Make it

Brag about imaginary blogger friends, freebies, trips and events you have attended on social media. Then relax and wait till you make it.

*This is just a tongue in cheek kind of post if you have not realised that by now.

Fashion Journalism

Fashion Journalism

I have just finished reading the Kindle edition of Fashion Journalism by Julie Bradford and I am amazed at her wonderful a book it is. It is a very comprehensive overview of how fashion journalism operates and how to report on fashion. In this book, Julie Bradford covers everything relating to fashion journalism, from fashion magazines and PR to fashion blogging.

I recommend this very informative book to all fashion writers including fashion bloggers.I have learnt so much from her and I am looking forward to implementing them. The book is quite pricey at £15.13 for the Kindle edition and £26.99 for the print version but it is money well spent in my opinion. Knowledge is my power and we should be willing to pay good money to buy that knowledge.

This is definitely the best fashion related book I have read this year and I have read loads. I love her writing style, very fresh, straight to the point and easy to read. I also love the fact that she recognises fashion bloggers as fashion writers in our own right. The chapter 11 of the book is all about fashion blogging and social media.

Julie Bradford also refers and quotes various fashion bloggers all through the book. The likes of Susanna Lau of Style Bubble and Zoe Sugg of Zoella were mentioned and quoted in this book. Fashion bloggers are fashion writers writing fashionable posts/articles the way we see them. We are the future so ‘fashion journalists’ better get use to us because we are here to stay.

The stylish fashion blogger and entrepreneur – Olivia Palermo, is collaborating with the Italian shoe label; Aquazzura, on a six-piece capsule collection.

“The Aquazzura aesthetic very much fits my own, so it made sense to collaborate with my good friend Edgardo,” said Palermo. “I think it is no secret that I love a good shoe, so I very much enjoyed creating a ‘survival pack’ for every occasion and women of all ages.”

Aquazzura’s founder and creative director – Edgardo Osorio had this to say about the collaboration:

“Olivia and I have a very similar vision of shoes,” said Osorio. “She is a real style icon and has amazing knowledge about shoes and accessories. We wanted to create a capsule collection of the styles every woman needs in her closet, interpreted with the Aquazzura aesthetic and seen through [her] eyes.

This collection will feature flats, gladiator sandals, booties and other designs. I am looking forward to the launch. Well done Palermo.
