How to Get Kissable Lips

Lips, by far, are one of the most neglected parts of our beauty routines. Even I was a victim of this. But with conscious practice, I made sure that I pamper my lips as much as I do the other parts of my body. Who doesn’t want kissable lips right?

When you don’t take care of your lips, they get chapped, dry and dark. This will throw your overall appearance off balance. When you try and use lipstick to cover it, it’ll get caked up or hidden in the cracks. And that’s so much worse!

If you want to have appealing and kissable lips then it’s time to show them so love.

Exfoliate

Just the way you have dead skin cells on the skin on your face, the same goes for your lips. Exfoliation helps to remove the dead cells and reveal new and fresh skin. When you exfoliate your lips, it makes your lips smooth, brighter and plump.

There are so many exfoliating scrubs specifically for your lips. However, I’m a great fan of natural products you can get straight from your kitchen cupboard.

Sugar makes an excellent exfoliating scrub. It not only removed the dried and dead skin from your lips, it also nourishes your lips and make them extra soft.

Apply your favourite lip balm or a dollop of Vaseline on your lips. Take a pinch of sugar and pat it all over your lips. The sugar will stick to the balm or Vaseline. Next use your fingers to gently scrub your lips. If you don’t like the feel of sugar on your lips, you can use an old toothbrush and brush your lips with water. This gives the same effect as exfoliating with sugar. But make sure that you don’t scrub too hard and injure your lips.

Stay hydrated

To have those lush, plump lips, you need to make sure that you stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Of course, staying hydrated depends a lot on the environment as much as how much fluid you take into your system. To be on the safe side, always make sure you drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day.

Don’t lick your lips

Dry lips are usually the beginning of unhealthy looking lips. Unknown to many, in an attempt to keep your lips moist, there is a tendency to lick your lips. It sounds pretty logical as saliva is liquid which will keep your lips moist. However, that is a huge misconception.

Licking your lips can make your lips very dry. The elements contained in your saliva makes your lips dry up quickly.

Moisturize

For kissable lips, moisturizing balms must be your best friend. Moisturize your lips daily, especially immediately after exfoliating or accidentally linking your lips so that your lips don’t dry out. If possible, moisturize multiple times a day to maintain lush lips.

One hack I use while moisturizing my lips is to apply a little water to my lips before applying a generous amount of lip balm or more Vaseline to my lips. This will help lock in the moisture longer.

Don’t think moisturizing your lips is something that is restricted to day time use. Make sure you moisturize every night too. In fact, I advice you be extra generous with the lip balm or Vaseline at night.

How to Care for your Lips this Autumn/Winter

*Collaborative post.

Hair Care

Autumn is here and so it is time to pay our skin and lips some extra attention. I recently raved about how cool lip balms were, and I am stocking on a few at the moment. What many people don’t realize is that the weather doesn’t only affect the skin on your body but also affects the skin on your lips. In fact, the lips are worse hit during the cold weather.

Sadly, the lips get the least amount of care in some ladies’ skincare routine. The skin on your lips is very sensitive such that a little change in weather can affect your lips. The cold weather can make your lips go dry, chapped, or cracked. If your lips are not attended to soon enough, the weather can cause them to even bleed, and this is not a pretty look.

Dry, chapped, or cracked lips can make you less appealing. The flaky skin makes the skin on your lips look uneven. Sometimes when you apply lipstick or lip balm it can get caked up in the dried skin on your lips.

Here are some lip care tips that will help you have healthy-looking, smooth and soft lips this autumn/winter:

Avoid bad lip habits
I’ve observed a lot of women who have the habit of biting or licking their lips for no reason. Some even peel the dried skin off their lips with their fingers. Such habits can make your lips dry out and will leave your lips in bad shape. Biting or pealing the dried skin from your lips can make your lips bleed and cause injuries that will take a long time to heal. The best way to ensure that you have good-looking lips is to stop those bad habits. Your lips will thank you for it.

Exfoliate your lips
If you thought exfoliation is only for your body then think again. Your lips also need to be exfoliated to get rid of dried skin and reveal new skin. It’ll make your lips smoother and easier to evenly apply lipstick.
Use a natural scrub to exfoliate your lips. In a bowl mix 1 tablespoon of sugar, with a teaspoon of honey and a bit of olive oil. Apply this scrub over your lips and gently work it in with your fingers, then wash off after a few minutes. The granules of sugar help remove the dried skin while the honey and olive oil help keep your lips soft. A toothbrush can also do the trick.

Moisturize your lips
Since the weather dries up your lips, moisturizing your lips daily is a must. Apply lip balm morning and night, as well as any time you feel your lips are drying out. When choosing a lip balm, make sure that it contains Vitamins A and D and natural oils to give your lips the necessary pampering.
If you want to go all-natural, use coconut oil. Coconut oil is amazing! It keeps your lips soft and heals any cuts that may have been caused by the weather. Take a little bit of coconut oil and apply it on your lips morning and night immediately after you come out of the shower. The coconut oil gets easily absorbed into the skin and can last the whole day.

Lip Balms for Autumn/Winter

How cute are these lip balms? I am so loving the bright colours.

I love my lip balms. I use them quite a lot, even in the Summer, but especially in the Autumn/Winter months. I suffer from very dry lips (who doesn’t) in the cold months, thanks to the cold air and central heating, so I like to have my lips properly moisturised with good quality lip balms. I have fallen crazy in love with the oils, shea butter and organic lip balms from Evolution of Smooth (EOS). They are great to have in your purses, briefcases or backpacks. The products are made to moisten any dry lips with their antioxidant rich and all-natural formula. They protect and treat dry lips perfectly, which is just what I will be needing this Autumn/Winter season.

Passion Fruit, Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint, Pomegranate Raspberry, Blueberry Acai, Strawberry Sorbet, Honeysuckle Honeydew and Medicated Tangerine smooth sphere lip balms are the different organic lip balms from Evolution of Smooth. The Lip Balm range also includes Vanilla Mint, Coconut Milk and EOS Blackberry Nectar Lip Balm are the visibly soft smooth spheres. EOS also recently came out with Sheer Pink or Pearl shimmer smooth sphere lip balms, however the shimmer options are out of stock at the moment.

The Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm is perfect for anyone struggling with dry lips. It contains healthy ingredients. The round egg-like shape is really pretty and compact, which makes it far easier to find in a bag. The EOS spheres are easy to find by just reaching into a bag, thanks to the odd shape. With typical lip balm products that come in a tube, unless you have a small compartment in your bag to store the lip balms, you have to nearly dump out your entire bag to get out the tube out. Trust me, it has happened to me so many times now, especially with big bags. I am grateful my EOS Lip Balm is easy to reach when I need it.

Like Eos lip balm on Facebook to keep up with the latest flavors.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day.
