Social Media Tips – Twitter is meant for chit-chat

Blogging and social media go hand in hand. I would be lost with the 2, which is why you would easily catch me on them. When it comes to blogging, content is king and marketing is queen. There is no content without marketing. What is the point of writing post after post if no one is going to read it. Social media is a massive platform when it comes to marketing your blog. My number blog referral is Google, which is exactly the way I want to. I pay a lot of attention to my SEO, and I am thankful I am starting to see the results of all my hard work over the years. The last for referrals is Twitter.

While Google is my number referral list, Twitter is my last! I found this odd at first because I didn’t understand how it would be my last since I shared every new blog post on there. I also share many tweets with post links with the right hashtags and they get liked/retweeted. So with all the hard work and Twitter being the last on the referral list, it left me wondering why. I have been on Twitter since 2009 and I still maintain my original account, although my name has been tweaked a few times on there.

Social Media Tips – Twitter is meant for chit-chat

I have come to realise that Twitter as the name kind of implies, is meant for chitchat. It is not really the platform to get lots of people to visit your blog. It is more for building relationships and expressing yourself. I will be doing more of that going forward. There will still be many tweets with links to blog posts and all, but I will be focusing more on just chatting with others and expressing my views and opinions.

Blog Coaching Service

Twitter is still one of my favourite platforms. I get many blog collaborations on there and I also pitch to many potential clients, so I won’t be reducing my time on there regardless. I will just be using it slightly differently now that I fully understand how it works as a social media platform. At the moment, I have a blog coaching service available, where I will be teaching how to make the most of your blog and start to earn an income from it. Do get in touch via email for more details on that.
