What is fashion and am I fashionable?

What is fashion? That can be defined in many different ways. I see fashion as modern/change, which isn’t surprising as the French word for fashion is La Mo, which is the short form of la modernité, which also means modernity. Fashion is what we see on the high street, the fashion magazines, the top designer stores, and on the runaway. It changes every season and to stay on top of fashion means to literally keep updating your wardrobe with every new collection that pops up. How possible is that especially now with all that we have going on?

Are we supposed to focus on fashion or style?

To be honest, I have never really been fashionable. Instead, I prefer having a capsule wardrobe that shows off my personal style. I stick to my personal style and not to the dictates of the never-ending fashion industry. Like many things, it takes a while to find your sweet spot but you know it once you find it. Being fashionable will clearly put many of us in debt, struggling to keep up with credit card payments and even store card payments. It amazes me every time when I am offered a store card for a fashion store. Why would I want to buy clothes on credit only for them to be out of season in a few months? That makes no sense. Now don’t get me wrong, I love looking good and I like to invest in my clothing and accessories, so I don’t have to keep shopping every few months. I also love spoiling myself and I have a lovely closet with more items I can count but I only shop for things I need. Going along with what is considered fashionable would be a waste.

How do you see fashion?

According to the editorial policy of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture on Fashion History Love to Know Website, fashion is defined as “the cultural construction of the embodied identity.” Do you agree with this definition? How do you see fashion and would you call yourself fashionable?

Power of Neon Colors

The bright neon colors are a real thing for many young women. It won’t be wrong to say that neon trends were all over this Fashion Week. The power of neon has drawn its inspiration from old-school fashion. This 1980s trend have made a remarkable comeback on the runways. The French fashion designer, Marine Serre, demonstrated the bold color rave culture. It’s an obvious call for individuals’ attention and reactions. The neon color splash is a huge contemporary trend from hair to nails to clothing. Women have pulled off great festival fashion looks by using the power of neon. Literally, I cannot wait what 2020 has to offer for neon collection!

Checkers Mode

The checker is all about black and white check prints. This strong classic pattern will be coming back for the year 2020. In my opinion, the best thing about this minimalistic design is that you can create amazing looks. It is relatively easy to mix and match with any color, shoe design, and different type of accessories. You can either go for formal and casual looks with checker prints. It all depends on your personal sense of styling.

All Matchy-Matchy

According to well-reputed fashion designers, too much matching from head-to-toe is not a good thing. I agree that monochromatic is a boring thing to go for but, it works for festival fashion clothing. Ladies pick out one pattern or one color to create a whole look. This scheme is an incredible idea for generating a lovely harmonious masterpiece. Matching ravel clothing for women is going to be a thing in 2020.

Glowing World

The shine and glow are going to rule the next year as well. I am sure you do not want to miss out glowing rave and shiny festival outfits. The white and neon-colored clothes is a good idea to wear for backlight parties. These glow-in-the-dark colors can promptly boost your mood in the holiday season. The reflective pieces from glowing in the night and shining in the sun are going to be an eye-catching trend. You can wear funky jewelry to add more sparkles to your look.

Fishnets

It won’t be wrong to say that fishnets are here to stay for the long run. They never go out-of-date and has made it way for the next year as well. This trend has always standout in other areas of rave and festival clothing. Fishnets come in socks, dresses, leggings, tops, crop tops, and even full bodysuits. Rave clothing websites and in-stores have added lovely fishnet designs to shop. These pieces have a high demand and sell out quickly. Fishnets are well-adopted outfit to wear for fun day.

What do you think of these festival fashion trends for 2020? Are you excited about any?

Outfit Post – Styling a T-shirt for September

I am happy September is finally here and I am styling a t-shirt for September. August was a very busy month. And it felt like it took forever at a point. So I am glad the new month is now here. I can see September being even more busy than August. The kids are back to school in the next few days, and we are all looking forward to that. All what they need for school is ready and I am eager for a bit more structure to our days.

A lot would be happening here on Fashion and Style Police this September and the rest of the year. It is going to be super busy. I am working on all sorts and dying to share them all with you.

I wore this outfit some days ago to a theme park with the kids. It was a lazy style day, and I wanted an outfit I would move freely in. We were planning to go on rides, so I needed to be dead comfy. This outfit worked great for the day. I got the t-shirt as a souvenir gift from Japan earlier in the year. I like the white, red and gold shirt design. Looking at the shirt, I thought it was going to be a lot bigger on me, but I was happy to see it was the right size once it was on me.

Styling the t-shirt was dead easy. I just went for a pair of leggings, flats and a cross body bag, because I needed my hands free for the day. It was super easy to style, I could even do it in my sleep. I love having t-shirts in my wardrobe because they save me on lazy days. And I think they always look smart. What do you think of styling a t-shirt?
