Fashion & Style Police Reviews NEEK Lipsticks

I got these vegan NEEK Lipsticks some days ago, and they have kept me really busy. It is my first time trying products from the brand, so I was eager to try out these lipsticks.

  3. These lipsticks are 100% natural. All NEEK Lipsticks are paraben, lead, sulphate, phthalate, mineral oil, palm oil and chemicall FREE.
  4. The ingredients in the lipstick are printed on the label, so you know what is in each.

I love the kiss me kiss me shade. It is a glossy fuchsia pink shade and it looks good on me. I really like the mix of pink and blue tones. This Lipstick has a nourishing base of shea butter, jojoba and avocado oils, which keep the lips hydrated. I am so in love with this shade and the catchy name.

The NEEK Mystify is a gorgeous cocoa brown shade with a bit of pink. It is made on a lipbalm base of shea butter and jojoba and avocado oils and then coloured naturally with micas and pigments. So it feels amazing on the lips. Especially with this chilly weather.

Laser Hair Removal Treatment During Summer

Without a doubt, summer is the season where we expose more skin than usual. Shorts, skirts and t-shirts make up the most prevalent fashion pieces every summer.

One of the problems, we ladies face is our unwanted hair. Since most of our bodies are exposed during the summer, our hair is let out in the open for people to see. Oftentimes this can be pretty embarrassing, especially for those of us (like me) who have more body hair than others.

OOTD Bare Legs

There are so many hair removal methods like laser hair removal, waxing, shaving and using the good old fashioned tweezers. These methods are all fine all year round, but some should be used with caution during the summer months.

Laser treatments make hair removal easy, painless and long lasting, unlike other hair removal methods that are quite the opposite. And that is why I am an advocate of laser hair removal treatments but I believe they should not be in done on body parts that would be exposed in the summer months. Here are the reasons why.

It makes your skin very sensitive

Laser Hair Removal Treatment makes use of lasers to remove hair from your body. The heat from the laser will go deep into your skin and target the hair follicle. The power of the laser will destroy the hair follicle and your hair is removed. The effect of the laser can make your skin extremely sensitive. If you don’t protect your skin after laser hair removal, your skin could be faced with more irritation if exposed to sun.

You run the risk of your skin getting burned

The sun can be extremely harsh. If you thought getting sensitive skin was bad enough then you should note this. When you combine sensitivity of your skin with the results from the laser treatment, the effect of sun’s rays could be heavier than normal after a laser hair removal treatment.

Your run the risk of skin discolouration

When exposed to the sun, your skin tends to experience pigmentation problems. The rays of the sun can be rather harsh at times. Although laser hair removal favours fair skin, it is not friendly for dark-skined ladies. It could make your skin look darker due to melanin production. This is not good for your skin as you may end up with dark patches on the laser hair removal treatment area.

You won’t be able to have a tan

Summer is the time when people go under the sun to get that coveted tan. Tans are seen to be attractive. When you get a laser hair removal treatment, you will not be able to give yourself a tan. The direct effect of the sun’s rays will make your skin more sensitive. Your skin will start to feel raw and that could even damage your skin. That’s why dermatologists advice that you should stay away from tanning for about 6 weeks after the laser hair removal treatment.

I think the best time to have the laser hair treatment done is in the cooler months.

Have you had the laser hair removal treatment? What are your thoughts?

Product Review: The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit

The Body Shop

I have been using the brow & liner kit from The Body Shop for some weeks now and I have a lot to say about this product. A friend introduced me to this great product and I have not looked back ever since. I got the brown and black shade and it has since replaced my regular eyebrow pencil. I think it is a great product overall and I will tell you why but first  here is what The Body Shop has to say about this product:

This handy compact contains everything you need to create perfect eyebrows: a double-ended brush and light and dark shades to fill and define.

  • Contains two shades
  • Includes a double-ended brush
  • Dermatologically tested
  • Ophthalmologically tested
  • Suitable for contact-lens wearers

Here is my opinion:

PROS

  1. This product is great for contact-lens wearers. I am one so I know.
  2. It is long-lasting, stays on all day.
  3. It is quite affordable at £10 and it is value for money, I have had mine for over 5 weeks now and it is still waxing strong.
  4. It comes in three different shades; black and brown, blonde and auburn, and brunette and brown. So there is a shade for everyone.
  5. It defines my eyes beautifully.

CONS

1. There is quite a lot to be desired when it comes to the brush in the kit. The curved shape makes it awkward to hold. It just doesn’t work. I have to use my regular slanted MAC brush to do the work.

The only issue with this product is the brush but that is not an issue because I have a great brush to use in place of it. I recommend this brow and liner kit and I will be using this product at The Body Shop again.
