Christian Dior Vintage Crystal Earrings

I have slowly fallen in love with shopping vintage, and I must say, I am loving it. Digging out stylish rare gems is now my new best thing, and I really enjoy styling them as well.

I recently came across an online store – Rock my Vintage, which has quickly became my online spot for all things vintage. Rock my Vintage stocks original and inspired vintage dresses and accessories, at amazing prices, so it is worth having a look at this website if you are into vintage pieces and accessories.

I was on the hunt for some stunning vintage jewellery as a twinkling treat for myself (Yes I like to get myself presents regularly), so I went browsing on the website. There were so many options with a varied price range, so it took me some time to make up my mind, but I finally settled on this gorgeous Christian Dior Crystal Vintage Earrings, and I am glad I did.

I am head over heels in love with the sparkly earrings. I have never had a Christian Dior jewellery before, so it feels good to rock these super sparkly beauties.

These 1980s diamante clip on earrings by Christian Dior feature a curved crossover design with a double row of crystals for maximum shine. All of the original crystals are intact and are in a gold setting. The hinge fastening is marked with ‘Chr. Dior Germany’ and these earrings measure 2cm. Condition – Excellent.

I am saving the earrings for special occasions only, when I need to ooze some 80s glamour. But if I was to style the earrings for a regular day, I would probably match it with a nice stylish vintage inspired dress like the beauty below.

This 1940s vintage inspired Faye Floral Midi Shirt Dress from Sugarhill Boutique, would look amazing this spring, styled with the vintage Christian Dior Crystal Earrings and a black pair of sandals.

I love shirt dresses; they are very comfortable, easy to style and flatter most shapes. What is there not to like?

What do you think of both items? Are you a vintage fan?

How to Care for your Accessories

Without a doubt, accessories form an essential part of any outfit. They not only complement what we wear, but can also give our outfit that ‘WOW’ factor if used correctly.

As important as accessories are in fashion and style, very few people actually take good care of their accessories. Many times we just chuck our earrings in the jewelry box until the next outing, or hide our watches in their drawers.

If accessories are so important in creating great looks, then we should be taking care of them a bit more. Not taking care of our accessories can make them start looking old, lose their shine or start changing colour. Most times, neglected accessories are prone to getting damaged quickly no matter how high quality they may be.

If you have not been taking care of your accessories, then here are some tips that you can start applying straightaway.

  1. Keep your accessories dry at all times

Ever noticed some of your jewelry change colour after a while? That happens when your accessories, especially the ones made out of metals like bras, copper and bronze get in contact with water and start to oxidize.

When your accessories come in contact with sweat, perfume or chemicals in your cream, the elements in your accessories start to react with those substances. This is the main cause of your accessories changing colour over time.

The best way to go about this is to ensure that you use your cream or perfume before you put on your accessories and not after you put them on. This will give those substances a chance to dry before they get in contact with your accessories.

Also once you feel yourself sweating, gently damp your sweat off so that it does not get to your accessories.

  1. Clean your accessories after using them

Since there are some elements that may react with your accessories when you are out and about, you will need to wipe your accessories before you store them away. Wipe your accessories with a soft cloth to ensure that no water, perfume or cream is lodged in corners of your accessories.

Make sure that you are thorough as even a little bit of cream hidden on the surface of your accessories could cause quite some damage over time. For example, nothing is as vulnerable as the watch you wear on a daily basis. If you want your watch to last longer, take time to wipe your watch before you keep it away for the day.

  1. Store your accessories in the appropriate place

Do you leave your accessories lying around after using them? Keeping your accessories out in the open exposes them to elements that could destroy your accessories. Some of your accessories like chain necklaces or long beaded earrings could get tangled or even get broken.

To prevent this from happening, make sure that you have a special box or compartment where you can keep your accessories. This will provide the perfect environment for your accessories to be stored as it will be kept in a dark cool place that will be far away from anything that could damage your accessories. Another example is a padded jewelry box will protect your delicate jewelry from being scratched.

These small actions can do wonders for the life of your and your accessories will thank you for this.

Fashion Career Ideas for Stay at Home Mothers

If you are a stay at home mother and fashion lover, there are a number of business ideas you could start-up this 2017. Even if it brings just a little amount of money each month, every little does help. And having a form of business you could do from home as a stay at home mother can help get rid of the baby brain and keep you sane.

I have been a work from home mother since 2013, and I have tried all sorts of fashion career business ideas and non fashion business ideas, so I have a wealth of knowledge in these areas.

Here are some fashion carer ideas I have tried as a stay at home mother –

Fashion Blogging

I started blogging before I became a mum, so I just carried on. Blogging is one of the best things I have ever started in my life. And I would stay at home mothers that have an interest in writing and photography to start a blog. Even in the early days when no one is reading and no one is paying you to blog, it feels good to just keep your mind and soul busy doing something else outside caring for your children. And as your blog grows, then the money starts to roll in.

Blogging is not a get rich scheme. You won’t make money overnight or much in the first 2 years. But if you have the passion to carry on against all odds, you could be making well over £1000 in a month, receiving samples every week, invites to great events and reviewing amazing locations. There is no fixed time as to when you start making money from your blog, it varies from blog to blog, from niche to niche. So you must have the passion and determination to keep at it.

Fashion Vlogging is another career you could start on YouTube from home. I am not a vlogger, so I can’t really comment on this idea but I know many vloggers who have been vlogging for years and make a good full-time income out of it, so it is worth thinking about.

Fashion Writing

A fashion writer writes fashion articles for other blogs and websites. I am a freelance writer as well as blogger. I write for a few websites and I get paid per article. This is a great career choice for stay at home mothers that have a flair for fashion and writing. You could be paid up to £50 or even more for a 500 words article. Most of my clients find me through Fashion and Style Police or social media.

I don’t use any of the content mills because the rates are extremely low for what the clients usually ask for. But I would advise anyone thinking of starting a fashion writing career to sign up to these content mills (I did in the beginning), and see what they have to offer. Your case may be different from mine.

Writing a fashion book is also a great idea. Also you could look at writing for free for some publications to get your content out there to put on your portfolio, or just have a blog as your portfolio and market the hell out of it.

Fashion Styling

If you have a good eye for fashion and enjoy styling people, you could consider a fashion styling career from home. There are various short online courses you could take from the comfort of your home to get you on the right path to your online fashion styling career. I considered being an online fashion stylist at a point in my life. I took a styling course and completed it withing a year. I was hungry and ready to style clients, and I did style a few for some time, but I later decided it was not the right career for me. It may work out perfectly for you so look this up.

Online Fashion Boutique

I have considered having an Online Fashion Boutique many times. I have done my research and I can say it is a lucrative but saturated business. It is worth going into if you have something new to bring to the table, say your own designs. If you are just going to sell pieces from China and the likes, you may struggle to make a living. Having said that, I know quite a good number of stay at home mothers running successful online fashion boutiques with beautiful items. So it is a business idea worth considering.

Do you run any of these businesses? How has it been for you? Please share your thoughts.
