Flat Footwear

I am a huge lover of fans. You can easily catch me rocking a pair especially in the summer months. Most times, I am out and about with the twins, so wearing heels is usually not practical. I save them for when I don’t have to take too many steps.

Good to know flats are popular this summer. I have been wearing them a lot this summer holiday.

Oversized Hats

I love wearing oversized hats in the summer months. They protect me from the harsh sun rays and keep me stylish at the same time. So I am happy to see oversized hats in vogue this year.

I see all sorts of oversized hat designs in the shops and on social media. It is amazing to see there are so many options available.

Tie-Dye Pieces

I love tie-dye pieces. They are always colourful and summer is all about colour so not surprised to see it is trending this summer. It is good to see a 60s fashion trend back in vogue in 2019.

This is one trend I am looking forward to shopping this season. I am hoping to get some subtle tie-dye pieces to take on holiday with me.

Say It With Neon

If you a lover of colour, you would love the fact that Neon is back in trend this summer. This is not a trend I can see myself exploring ever, but I do like seeing the pieces on those brave enough to wear them. They are usually eye catching and really pretty.

Shorts For Summer

Shorts are always on trend in the summer months. They are stylish and comfy to wear, which is why they are always so popular. I love my shorts and pretty much live in them during the summer months. Leggings are my preferred pants but it can get too warm for them at this time of the year. Which is why I wear more of shorts.

The knee length shorts- what the fashion critics call sensible shorts are now on trend, and I am loving it. I find them more comfortable to wear when  out and about.

Which fashion trend are you loving this summer?

The Best of 80s Fashion in my Wardrobe

I was born in the 1980s so it comes as no surprise that I am a huge fan of the fashion from back then. There’s something so fascinating about the 80s fashion. It was a stylish decade of bold styles, colours and patterns. Which is why it is still one of the most eclectic decades in fashion till date. There’s a lot of 80s fashion in our pieces and accessories today, and I am here for them all.

Here are some of the ways I am enjoying the best of the 80s fashion in my style world today –

A power suit always works! I have many jumpsuits in my wardrobe and they always do the work! Power suits were a big fashion statement in the 1980s, and it comes as no surprise to see that they are still on trend today. You can slay easily when you find the right suit for your body shape.

I love polka dots and I can see why I do! It is from the 80s! The photo above is from an old outfit post (I bet you can tell) but I still have that polka dot dress. It is one of my favourite polka dot dresses in my wardrobe. I adding polka dot pieces and accessories to my collection. They are always so pretty and stylish.

Tweed and Fishnet Tights

So there are 2 big pieces from the 80s fashion in this outfit. The tweed blazer and the fishnet tights. Tweed was also a big fashion statement in the 80s. I love a good tweed jacket. It always works and looks so posh. This is my current favourite tweed piece and I always enjoy styling it. The fishnet tights are super pretty. I love wearing them when it isn’t too cold.

High Waist Jeans

The legendary Tina Turner made the High Waist Jeans so cool! She wore them jeans so well. I have a soft spot for high waist jeans now thanks to her. They remind me of the 80s fashion and how amazing it was back then.

5 Popular Piercing Trends To Follow

*Collaborative post.

Piercings are a great accessory that can really lift an outfit but they are quite tricky. If you don’t match your piercings well with the rest of the outfit or you choose piercings that aren’t quite right for you, it can ruin your look entirely. Certain people can pull off more piercings than others and they’ll look fine with lots of large pieces, but other people need to go for something more understated.

Trends in piercings change quickly as well so it’s important that you change your piercings regularly to stay relevant. If you’ve been wearing the same few pairs of earrings for as long as you can remember, it might be time for a change. These are some of the latest trends in piercings to give you some inspiration.

Layering Lobe Piercings

The earlobes are the most common place to get a piercing and most people tend to wear either a small stud in the lobes or maybe something a bit larger like a dangly statement piece. But one of the latest trends is layering your lobe piercings on top of one another. Instead of just one single piercing or a few that are layered horizontally, a lot of people are stacking them vertically instead.

If you’re going to go for this look, you have to balance the two earrings well. Obviously, you can’t wear two dangly earrings over the top of one another because they’re just going to look messy. But if you pair a dangly earring with a nice understated stud above it, it looks great. You can also use two or three rings in an ascending pattern up the lobe, just make sure that they’re colours and designs that compliment one another well.

Rook Piercings

In the past, earlobe piercings were considered the norm and anything outside of that wasn’t always considered fashionable in the mainstream. But in the years since, cartilage piercings have become a lot more popular and people are using more interesting constellations of piercings rather than one simple piercing on the lobe. But it’s only in the last few years that rook piercings have become more popular. The rook is the area of the ear right in the centre, and a lot of people use it as the centrepiece for the rest of their piercings. It’s also the ideal accessory for a work outfit because you can easily cover it with your hair if needs be, but if you want to display it then you can tuck your hair behind your ears.

Orbital Piercings

Orbital piercings are a trend that has been around for a while but they’re only now entering mainstream fashion. An orbital piercing is one single piece of jewellery that connects two piercings. In the past, things like dangling chains were popular orbital piercings but they’re not particularly elegant and they aren’t ideal if you want a more formal understated look. But there are some great pieces of orbital jewellery that are a bit more stylish than a large chain.

Jewelled Septum Piercings

Septum piercings, often referred to as the bull ring piercing, are a popular nose piercing that is more widespread than ever. It was traditionally associated with a more edgy punk look but now people of all different styles are using it. One of the latest trends is a jewelled nose ring for septum piercings instead of a plain one. When you’re trying to put an outfit together and you’ve got a septum piercing, you can choose a nice ring with a coloured jewel that matches with the colours in the rest of your outfit. It’s a better way to incorporate your piercings into the outfit and tie it all together.

Belly Button Piercings

Belly button piercings or navel piercings used to be so popular but they fell out of fashion for a while, especially in older people. There was a preconception about belly button piercings that you can have them when you’re young and once you pass the age of 25, but that’s just not true. If you pick the right piece of jewellery for your piercing, a navel piercing can look very elegant and classy, which is why they’re coming back into fashion. Belly button piercings are becoming more popular with people of all ages and there is a lot more choice when it comes to buying jewellery for your belly button piercings. Small hoops, in particular, are very popular right now.

Piercings are a great way to accessorize if you get it right. Just follow these popular piercing trends and you’ll be able to give your outfits a boost.
