Outfit Post – A Slice of Lemon

I was never really a huge fan of the lemon. I found it too “loud”. However, I have found myself loving the shade in last few years. There is something I now like about the lemon colour.

I wore this outfit while holidaying in Maryland. The lemon top is a new wardrobe addition. I got it some weeks ago, and worn it a few times already. That is how much I love it. It is super easy to style and very easy to wear. The black leggings is also a new wardrobe addition. I am forever buying new leggings. My leggings only look good for a few months, and then they start to look worn out. Maybe because I am forever wearing them. I find leggings super comfy, and easy to style. I don’t have to over think an outfit too much, once I have a pair of leggings to save the day. I have been told to go for more expensive leggings as they last longer than the regular high street pairs. What do you think?

Everything else I am wearing is an oldie but a goldie. I spent the day in the shopping mall browsing bargains and looking for amazing items to take home with me. When it comes to shopping, I prefer shopping in Europe than in the US. Maybe it is because it was my first trip to the US in 7 years. I was expecting to find amazing things I would like. But that as not the case at all. It took me forever to find things I really likes. In the end, I got fab items from Macy’s, Carters, The Children’s Place and a few other stores.

As you may know by now, we were on holiday in the US for some days. We got back last week, and we still trying to get back into the swing of things. The jet lag is gone, which is great. We were like zombies for days. But I still have a mountain of laundry to tackle, and some unpacking to do. Which is the part I hate the most about going on holiday. Thankfully, I made sure I cleaned the house from top to bottom before we left. I didn’t want us to come back to a dirty house. That would have been so depressing.

I took these photos in Laurel, Maryland. It was a nice sunny day, and I was in the mood to get outfit shots taken. The only accessory missing was my sunglasses, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Like I said in the previous travel post, I didn’t get to do a lot of sight seeing in Maryland. I was hoping to do visit some tourist attractions but it never happened. All I did was see family and friends, and I spent the rest of my time in shopping malls or the hotel.

We spent 6 nights in Maryland. It was my third time visiting the city but first with the kids. We stayed in Homewood Suites by Hilton, which was a literally a home away from home, with a kitchen, living room and bedroom. We had a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, TVs, coffee machine and all the basics available to us. It was a lovely place to stay and I will be looking out for Homewood Suites by Hilton in other locations.

I didn’t get to travel with my Canon camera so the quality of my photos are not as good as I would have liked. I had to make do with my iPhone and Samsung phone cameras. We were travelling with too many tablets and laptops, the last thing I wanted to add on was another gadget.

I have always admired Naomi Campbell. She is a strong black woman and she dresses like the Boss that she is every time she steps out. I think Naomi Campbell is a Style Icon. I have followed her style and career for decades now, and she owns it every time. This stylish beauty is one hell of a super woman.

For those who are not familiar with Style Icon – Naomi Campbell, you must be living under a rock, she is a British model, actress, and singer. The 47-year-old beauty is  one of six models of her generation declared supermodels by the fashion industry.

Who is a Style Icon

Who is a Style Icon? A Style Icon is person who is very fashionable, with a distinct look. Style Icons set the pace in the fashion world. They are fashion leaders everyone wants to emulate.

When I think of Style and Fashion, I think of Naomi Campbell. I think she has an amazing fashion sense. Her personal style from her hair to her footwear is always on point. The world is her runway, and everyday is a fashion show once she steps out.

This woman is style goals for me anyway. I wish I could pull off some of the pieces I see her rocking.

Naomi Campbell does not believe a model should have an off day, even if she is not working. So you won’t catch her dressed in ripped jeans or worn out t-shirts. Campbell is always looking the part of a style muse; she never switches that off. Now this might look like a lot of work for many of us, who can’t be bothered looking all put together all day, everyday. But for this Style Icon, it comes naturally.

Campbell is a 24/7 muse. She never steps out without looking her best. Which means her makeup is always perfectly done, hair expertly styled, and stylish designer pieces styled up.
