5 Fashion Pieces I Hate

So these 5 fashion pieces I hate post has been a long time coming. I can eat and drink fashion and style. Dressing up makes me feel alive, confident and empowered. I enjoy playing dress up and my daughter does too! I guess the apple does not fall too far from the tree eh?

There are a few fashion pieces I don’t like, and there are some that I do have a love/hate relationship with. Here are a few of the fashion pieces I hate.

Harem pants

There was a time in the 80’s when harem pants were very popular. Years later they found their way back and are now in vogue kind of. Many women love them. They are comfortable and give a different perspective to style. I can’t stand them. They remind me of Aladdin! I don’t like the style of them at all, and I think it looks weird.

High-waist jeans

Apart from being really fashionable, high-waist jeans are a lifesaver for many women, especially those who don’t have really long legs. They help to elongate their legs and give people the impression that their proportions were well-distributed. Having said that, I am not a fan of high-waist jeans at all, and that is why I have none in my wardrobe. They remind me of mom jeans and I do not like those either. Plus I don’t think this fashion piece would do anything for my body shape.

Strapless tops and dresses

On those very hot summer days, strapless tops and dresses help us stay cool and look trendy at the same time. Now, I have a love and hate relationship with strapless tops and dresses. I admire them on others. I think they look good, depending on the design. But I rather go for pieces with straps. I just feel more comfortable and secure having the straps on.

Crop Tops

Even when I had a very flat belly, I was never a fan of crop tops. I found them very childish and not befitting. I do admire crop tops on others sometimes, but it is not a fashion piece I can ever see myself wearing.

Shapeless long dresses

Maxi dresses are lovely and very comfortable fashion pieces. They can make us look taller and feel really elegant in them, but I find them unflattering and shapeless. I feel them swallow me up!

5 Typical Style Mistakes of Plus-Size Girls

It’s possible to be stylish no matter what your size is. Trendy plus-size women keep proving it constantly. There are no bad bodies, there are poorly chosen clothes. Curvy women are awesome, but not all of them can pick the right clothes to emphasize their strong points and hide what they want to hide. Plus-size women have their special charm that makes them splendid. DatingBrides is a living proof. In order not to lose this charm, it’s necessary to listen to expert advice and avoid common style mistakes. So, here is what curvy girls do wrong.

Thinking that only oversize dresses suit them

Indeed, shapeless dresses only make you appear even larger. Once you put on a baggy tunic, you add an extra size to your figure. It’s sad but true. The thing is that shapeless clothes such as lightweight blouses and dresses add looseness to your look. Unfortunately, curvy girls have to be more careful with their outfits. Try to choose those clothes that will expose thin parts of your body. For example, wear a long-sleeved shirt that will emphasize the delicate wrist and put an elegant bracelet on it.

Ignoring the correcting underwear

There is nothing shameful in wearing slimming pants or high-waist shorts on a daily basis. Wearing it on a special occasion is even a must. It smoothes the curves, makes your silhouette more graceful and boosts your confidence.

Thinking they look slenderer in black

Fashion experts advise you to get rid of this popular stereotype. Black really works if the shape and texture are properly chosen. Buying only black and brown clothes hoping that will make you appear S-size is a bizarre idea, indeed. Choose new look style dresses (often worn by Adele) to accentuate your feminine figure.

Hoping for the belt to do a miracle

You must have read somewhere or heard that to get an hourglass figure, you should bind the thinnest part of your waist with a belt. But if the waist is not that thin, this effect will be hardly achieved. Choose in favor of straight dresses and high heels. It will look much more attractive, and, in addition, you will not have any problems with breathing.

Not paying attention to makeup and hairstyle

Neglecting the state of skin and hair, any girl, no matter whether she is slim or plus-size, consciously spoils her image. The wrong makeup and poor or no hairstyle make a girl look sloppy. This opinion is connected with the stereotype about plus-size women according to which they just gave up on themselves. Very often, plumpness is associated with greasy hair and frumpy clothes. But you should do your best to prove this stereotype wrong.

Fashion Tips for Curvy Girls

Keep it simple. When you go to a shopping mall to buy some new clothes, make minimalism your friend. Choosing shoes, the best option is the pointed ones. The optimal height of the heels should be 5-7 cm. It will visually stretch your silhouette and make your legs even more beautiful.

Choose the right length. Knee length dresses and skirts are perfect for plus-size girls. The best length for blouses, shirts, and tops is about 5 cm from the broadest hip line.

Choose the right prints. The right choice will be small prints or vertical stripes. The vertical edging and a row of buttons have a similar slimming effect. Avoid big asymmetrical prints that visually add an extra size.

5 Fashion Tips for New Mothers

As women our bodies go through a lot of changes. And after we give birth, it takes a while before we can go back to our former selves. That is why these fashion tips for new mothers are so useful.

Having kids is wonderful, but when it comes to keeping up with fashion, you need to make sure you take extra care in the choices you make. Yes, you may have added a little since then, but there some nifty fashion tricks that can help you keep your not-so-flattering side out of view. Here are a few fashion tips that I have tried out.

Embrace loose fitting dresses

After giving birth, it is quite normal to have a little bulge in the tummy. While you are working on coming back to your slimmer figure, make loose fitting dresses your friends.

A loose fitting dress will hide all those extra pounds that come with being pregnant and give the illusion of being fit. A lovely loose flowing sleeveless dress makes a wonderful outfit during the summer, but if it’s a little cold outside, then wearing a sweater would help without damaging your style.

Opt for three-quarter sleeves

You know those flabby parts of our arms that we can’t help looking at? Well, when you become a mom, it is possible that while adding a couple of pounds, some of them ended up there. The good news is that three-quarter sleeves make a great way to disguise them from view.

A top or a lovely dress with three-quarters sleeves would be an excellent choice for new mothers as it may be a bit challenging to cover those arms. With three-quarters, you no longer have to be self-conscious about the size of your arms but rather relax and enjoy being stylish.

Elongate with high waist trousers or skirts

This is by far one of my favourite hacks. High waist trousers and skirts play a dual role in helping new moms stay trendy. First, the high waist helps to elongate your body making you look slimmer. The next thing high waist trousers or skirts do is to hide your tummy which is the place new mothers feel the most self-conscious.

Mind your necklines

This may be hard to believe but the neckline of your top or dress can make or break your style. As a new mom you need to choose clothes that help to flatter your assets but hide the few pounds that come with pregnancy.

That is why you need to make sure you avoid plunging necklines or turtlenecks as they will work against you by highlighting your weight. However, a nice V-neck can make a huge difference as it makes you look a lot slimmer.

Get comfy in a long knit cardigan

Cardigans are not only comfy and warm during the winter, they’re also great at keeping your stomach area out of view. But a long cardigan does a good job hiding them while making you look put together and stylish.

A long cardigan over a nice pair of jeans makes an excellent combination. You can make the look more laid back and casual by pushing the sleeves up to make them look like three-quarter sleeves.
