Blogging Predictions for the Next 10 Years

I wrote about the future of blogging earlier this year, and it was well received. I wrote about how much I think the blogging industry would be further diversified, and thrive with increased interdependence and social media. And I decided to write more on how I see the blogging industry in the next 10 years.

I see blogging looking very different in a few years time. Here are the 5 ways I think the blogging industry would change in 10 years time –

Less Blogs

There are a lot of blogs around nowadays, many quality blogs and not so quality blogs. In 10 years time, I think many bloggers would abandon their blogs and ultimately shut them down. I see the blogosphere not being as saturated as it is now, because I think many would give up on their blogs because they were set up for the wrong reasons.

A Better WordPress

I see WordPress still being the king of blogosphere. I see it being better. I see self hosting being as easy as clicking an icon. But I do see the service being more expensive in order to accommodate all these perks.

More Lifestyle Blogs

I see more blogs rebranding and being more flexible by covering more niches. I think people relate with lifestyle bloggers more because they find that they have a lot in common with them, and they are usually more interesting to read and write. So I see more lifestyle blogs popping up.

Clear Regulations

I see clear regulations in place for the blogging industry. Right now, it is so confusing what you must do, can do and can’t do. But I see the regulations being laid out properly in a few years.

More Social Media Platforms

Blogging and social media are like Bonnie & Clyde, they need each other. I see new platforms coming up in the future. And I see the end of some of the current platforms we have at the moment.

I have written this post as part of Innovation Company’s study on what bloggers see as the future of blogging –

  1. I have no idea, I know my blog will change as I will have my second set of moody teenagers at home but I would like to think that I am still writing

  2. i see reasoning in this post cos alot of blogs come online for the wrong reasons, either for one or the other, the one i feel more right about is about the social media platforms, so true and now alot are springing up already. nice read here.

  3. I would love to still be blogging in ten years, I have just started this year but I really enjoy it. I would also love clearer regulations as some things are still unknown but I’m new and learning.

  4. I’m not sure if there will be less blogs, but I think there will be less established blogs as people grow and change and blogging may be something they leave behind or pick up later on.

  5. I agree on clearer regulations too. I think there will be even more blogs in 10 years. There’s so many in the parenting sector yet lots of room for more niches. I think it’s too early to judge if many will still be going in 10 years that are doing well now but lots will have to adapt for sure

  6. It will be interesting to see how things change in the future of blogging. I think it will be a possibility that more social media channels will be created. Bloody hell, how will we keep up?! 😂 x

  7. I think it is a very interesting industry to see developing and it opens up so many doors for people. It will be interesting what new social media channels pop up over the years.

  8. I love this post. I think blogging will evolve so much in the next ten years. I think blog posts will start to become more interactive with technology. Things like facebook lives and instagram stories are just the beginning. I think soon we’ll get to do this on our blogs too. I think shopping from blogs is going to get huge and I think influencers are going to have to up their game to survive. I agree there will be less blogs because I think what readers expect in the future will be more than what they do now. x
