5 tips to help you choose the right keywords

Here are 5 ways you could go about picking the relevant keywords for your blog posts –

Imagine you are the reader

This is a very important tip. Thinking like your readers will enable you select the right keywords for every blog post. What keywords would your target audience type into Google to find your post? If you are writing about fashion tips for winter for example, you will need to ensure you include keywords like fashion tips, winter style tips, fashion tips for winter, and other synonyms of these words to boost the article.

Use long tail keywords

Using long tail keywords is another great tip. For those who don’t know, long tail keywords use a combination of three or more words. These keywords attract more eyeballs to your blog posts and these readers tend to stick around, especially if they like the rest of what your blog offers.

Make use of keyword tools

I use keyword tools to research relevant keywords. There are so many available online, so a quick Google search will bring a couple up. Wordstream is one of my favourite keyword tool. I find it easy to use and super helpful.

Study other bloggers

Research is the oldest trick in the book. When it comes to using the right keywords, study other blogs with great traffic and observe what they do differently. Pay attention to their blog posts and use of keywords.

Pay attention to the results

Once you have put in the work in picking the right keywords for your blog posts, you need to pay attention to the results. That way you get to see which technique is working and which isn’t. The more you use the right keywords, the more your blog will attract traffic and hopefully subscribers.
