Beauty Muse: Selena Gomez

The stunning Selena Gomez is a Beauty Muse. This pretty young woman grew on TV before our very eyes, and has transformed into a stunning beauty muse. I remember watching her on TV – Barney and Friends. She was a cute little girl, and she still has her cute features. She hasn’t lost her baby face yet, she could pass for a teenager easily. I love that about her. Many of her peers are walking around looking 10 times older with all the “work” they have had done already, but Selena Gomez is a natural!

I am not a fan of Selena Gomez’s movies or songs. But I do admire her beauty. I read up some recent interviews she had, and got some of her beauty tips and tricks for your reading pleasure –

 

Worst Beauty Advice She Ever Received

I just can’t understand when—and no offense—people have to wear makeup all the time, and they’ll say, ‘Oh, you can sleep with a tinted moisturizer or a self tanner on your face and you can wake up.’ For me, I just think that’s not my vibe, plus I do breakout. I don’t know if it’s bad advice, I just think it’s kind of to each their own. For me, I can’t really sleep with things on my body or tinted things just because I get worried. It’s not my vibe.

 

I am exactly the same. I can’t sleep with makeup on, but I can apply a light moisturiser.

Her Skincare Routine

I like to have a good morning regimen. I use my Clarisonic in the shower with the Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Renewing Peel Wash. I do that maybe four or five times a week, so my skin has a chance to breathe before all the madness starts. Dr. Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster on your cheekbones and around your eyes helps make you look alive. But what’s really great is First Aid Beauty’s Eye Duty Triple Remedy—if you get dark circles, it’s the shit. I’ll put it on, it feels all good and cold, go have a coffee, and that’s the bomb. The Biore Deep Cleansing Strips make me feel really accomplished when I do them, too—plus they work!

Product Review: Salvotore Ferragamo Signorina Eau de Parfum

You should all know by now that I am a recovering perfume addict. Well if you didn’t know, now you do. I love smelling nice so I make sure I never run out of perfumes.

This is my first Salvotore Ferragamo perfume. I have heard a lot about the brand and I have been dying to try some of the products but never had the opportunity until some weeks ago.

I came across this Salvotore Ferragamo Signorina Eau de Parfum while holidaying in Milan. Once I took a sniff, I knew I had to have it, so I was well impressed to receive a 50ml bottle as a surprise gift.

Here is the perfume product description –

‘Signorina’ eau de parfum is the perfect alliance of elegance and memorable. The bright fizzy notes of currant spiced by fresh pink pepper bring a joyful, cheeky character which complements the green vegetal notes. A generous dewy petal note made up of fresh jasmine, rosy peony and the chic femininity of rose offers a creative floral aspect. The airy and creamy texture of panna cotta blended together with soft musks and intriguing woody patchouli notes offer a racy Italian elegance and an unexpected addictiveness.

Top notes: pepper (rose/pink), blackcurrant buds (cassis)

Middle notes: jasmine, peony, rose

Base notes: patchouli, musk, pannacotta accord

I have used this perfume for some weeks now, here are my thoughts:

 

PROS

  1. The pretty bottle was the first thing to catch my eye. I love the pink bow at the top. The packaging is so beautiful, the bottle looks stunning on my dressing table.
  2. It has a light, airy fragrance that smells amazing.
  3. It is quite affordable. Prices start from £44 and go up to £83 for 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles, so there is a bottle for everyone.

CONS

  1. I wish it was more long-lasting. It did stay on for a few hours but I expected to stay on for the day or so.

Overall, I do recommend this Salvotore Ferragamo Signorina Eau de Parfum. It is a lovely perfume with a sweet fragrance, so it is definitely worth trying.

How to be a great beauty blogger

Beauty blogging found me along the way, and I have since fallen in love with it. If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for some time, you will know this blog is about fashion, beauty and a bit of lifestyle. I love reading and writing about beauty. I enjoy reviewing products and telling you all about that. I am always trying out new products, so adding a beauty category on the blog came naturally.

I won’t call myself a beauty blogger professional, but I have been beauty blogging for some years now, and I have picked up some tips along the way. I also know a great beauty blogger when I see one. Here are the ways you could be a great beauty blogger:

 

Be Authentic

A good blogger is always authentic regardless of the niche. Being authentic is very important in the beauty blogging industry especially with similar products being sent for reviews to so many bloggers at the same time. Being your own true self, and having a distinct tone, would help your blog posts stand out from the rest.

Tip: Put your spin on your blog posts especially reviews. Make them sound like You.

 

Take Stunning Photos

I wrote a blog post about stunning photos some days ago, so feel free to catch up on that post for photography tips and tricks.

Photography plays a vital role for beauty bloggers as products will need to be photographed, and photographed beautifully. If review products are not photographed beautifully, no one is going to be interested in purchasing them, regardless of how good they are.

Tip: Read the post linked above. Invest in a good camera and photo props.

 

Review Correctly

Many beauty bloggers are not reviewing products the way I would want them to as a reader. As a reader, I would want to see beauty bloggers review lipsticks and actually post photos of them wearing the lipstick not just swatches. Same with every other type of makeup. I want to see it on not just swatched. That way I would have a good idea of how the makeup would look. Swatches don’t really show much, and the makeup tends to look different when swatched and when applied.

Tip: Put the makeup on.

Post Varied Content

Post varied beauty content. If you blog only about beauty, there is a lot more to talk about in the beauty industry as a whole. I get bored when each blog post is a review post.

Tip: Post relevant beauty related posts that interest you.

 

Review Other Products

I get so bored when all I see on a blog are review posts courtesy of PR samples. I like to see beauty bloggers review products from that bathroom because they like the products so much and think it is a good find. I tend to trust those kind of bloggers a little more.

There is nothing wrong with reviewing PR samples, I do that on the blog all the time but I also review products I buy with my own money.

Tip: When next you come across a product you bought, that you like or hate so much, tell your readers about it.
