Style Icon: Brandy Norwood

Hey fashion lovers! I hope you are all well and staying safe wherever you are. Today’s style is going to take us down a memory lane of some sort. I have been a huge fan of Brandy Norwood for decades now. Her voice is simply amazing and many of her tracks are some of my favourites. I can sing along to most of them, that’s how much I love her songs, and I am sure it is the same for many. Her duo with Monica on The Boy is Mine will always be a hit.

When it comes to Brandy Norwood’s personal style, I have been a fan of her fashion sense since her early days. Norwood’s personal style is effortlessly chic and feminine. I love how she looks good in almost everything and how she goes for pieces and accessories that make her shine brighter.

Brandy Norwood’s Instagram page is filled with her styling amazing pieces. It is so amazing to see she has not changed much over the years. She still looks like “Moesha” without the braids. I miss the braids on her. They were like her signature look. As a young teenage girl, I always wanted my braids to look as good as Brandy’s.

I am loving the outfit Norwood has on here. The colour works great for her skin tone and the dress shows off her stunning legs. She accessorised it beautifully with stylish sandals. I think she looks amazing in this dress and I can see myself styling this look easily.

If there is one thing that a lot of project managers are yet to master it is the art of delegation. If we are honest with ourselves, most of us will admit that we are guilty of spreading ourselves too thin because we attempt to take on tasks ourselves when we could – and should – be delegating them to our team members. With that in mind, read on to discover some top tips on how to delegate more effectively as a project manager.

Be specific – One of the worst things you can do when giving out tasks is to be vague. You need to be specific with what is required. You should also explain why the task needs to be done, what results are expected, and the deadline.

Pick the right person for the task – When delegating, do not dish tasks out on a first come first serve basis. Rather than simply assigning tasks to the first person available, you need to ensure tasks are matched to the right person for the job. Do not give someone a task if they are not qualified to do it. You wouldn’t give someone with an HGV licence accounting tasks, would you? You need to play to the strengths and skills of your team.

Don’t over-delegate – While a lot of us are guilty of not delegating enough, you also need to make sure you do not over-delegate. You should not simply start delegating projects because you have fallen behind or you want to shift something off your desk that you should be doing. Delegating is about dishing out those tasks that you should not be doing yourself. It is vital to recognise the difference.
Give apprentices some responsibility – If you have any apprentices on your team, make the most of them. A lot of businesses make the mistake of having their interns and apprentices merely staying in the background. There are bound to be plenty of tasks that your apprentice could be working on, so make sure you give them something worthwhile to do, i.e. something that actually contributes to the project.
Don’t micromanage – There is no point in delegating a task if you are only going to micromanage it afterwards. Once you have handed out a task and provided training if necessary, you should set up a schedule for touching base, and then once you have done this you should step away from the project. You have assigned the task based on skillset, so you should trust the person in question to get the done job properly.

If you follow the advice that has been provided above, you should be able to delegate tasks more effectively and efficiently so that your project team can achieve more and you focus on the tasks that really matter rather than spreading yourself too thin.

Beauty Muse: Adele

The first Beauty Muse of the year 2021 is the lovely Adele. She is such a beauty! I think she has amazing facial features and her sultry voice always gives me goosebumps. Her makeup is always so flawless. I would love to be a fly on the wall to follow her makeup steps. Her signature eyeliner and nude lip makeup are always perfectly done by her makeup artist – Michel Ashton. He nails her look so well. I read his interview with CF Fashion Book some days ago and I found it very informative.

Here are some bits I really loved from the interview –

When you first met Adele, what inspired the look you did?
“Her beauty look has become as synonymous with her as her voice now, and that very first time I ever worked with her and put eyeliner on her, I don’t think we ever would have thought it would have become so iconic. Also, I think particularly the winged liner is just a look that suits her face so incredibly well because she has these big, beautiful almond-shaped eyes that she can really carry that off. I think the other reason it’s stood the test of time is that it’s a very classic beauty look.”

Adele’s makeup is so perfect, I agree. I think the winger liner suits her so well. The makeup shows off her almond-shaped eyes so beautifully. She is definitely a classic beauty. I love her look so much.

Do you have any tips for achieving the perfect winged liner?
“My biggest trick for people at home is to start on the outer corner of your eye and draw inward. It helps you create a straighter line when you’re doing that shape on the liner.

I will try drawing mine from the outer corner of my eye and see how I get on. It sounds like a great makeup tip. Normally, I usually start off from the inner corner, and sometimes I get it right. The eyeliner is such a tricky makeup to get right but once you get it right, it looks so good.

What do you think of Adele as a Beauty Muse?
