Product Review: MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

MAC Studio Fix Picture

I am a MAC Cosmetics lover, as you should all know by now, so this review should come as no surprise. I have been using the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation for a couple of years on and off, and I can see myself using it for a very long time. This product is a foundation and powder in one, designed to be used dry. It creates a matte, velvety finish by absorbing the skin oils.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is a one-step powder and foundation that gives your skin a smooth, flawless, all-matte finish with medium-to-full coverage. Its long-wearing, velvety texture allows your skin to breathe. Studio Fix is available in a wide range of colors.

How to use: Apply to skin using a sponge or your desired brush, and blend. You can also blend with your fingertips.

MAC Studio Fix

Here are my thoughts:

PROS
  1. It provides great medium-full coverage, leaving my face feeling and looking smooth/flawless, hiding all skin discoloration, and blemishes.
  2. It stays on for hours, very long-lasting, and because I barely need to top-up so often, I usually have mine for a while.
  3. There are over 40 shades available so there is a shade for every one. I got mine in NW45, and it suits my skin tone perfectly.
  4. It is very affordable at £22.
  5. It is easily accessible. You can grab one in stores at Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis, and online as well.

CONS
  1. Although it is a powder and foundation in one, I find that most of the time, I still need to apply a bit of the MAC Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation or a tinted mosituriser, before applying the Studio Fix, depending on the look I am looking to achieve.

Overall, I love the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, and I recommend it to anyone looking for the convenience of having a powder and foundation in one. It is a fantastic product, worth every penny, and I will be buying it again and again. You can watch my vlog here below.

Product Review: FACE atelier Part 2

FACE atelier

Some days ago, I wrote a product review post for FACE atelier makeup products, and now I am bringing you a review of the rest of the samples I received. I am reviewing 4 products today, and they are:

  • Ultra Camouflage Duet Dark
  • Revenge Lipstick
  • Ultra Sheer Bronzer Cognac
  • Ultra Sheer Bronze

FACE atelier Ultra Camouflage Duet Dark

FACE atelier Concealer

Here is what FACE atelier had to say about this concealer:

Fabulously flexible, FACE atelier’s silicone-based Ultra Camouflage Duet virtually erases imperfections and those pesky dark circles that have taken up residence beneath your eyes. Each Ultra Camouflage Duet has two color-matched shades that work in perfect harmony with FACE atelier Ultra Foundation. Ultra Camouflage Duet provides long-wearing, buildable coverage. The silicone in the formula guarantees that it will not flake, dry or crack.

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

None.

Sorry, but I have nothing good to say about this particular product.

Makeup

CONS

  1. It tends to crease overtime.
  2. It looked ‘caked’ on me. This concealer is heavy and sticky.
  3. I found it too thick and dark. I am not a fan of its consistency at all.
  4. It was not long-lasting, in a couple of hours, I looked like I didn’t have a concealer on.
  5. It didn’t conceal my spots or blemishes. It kind of made it look worse off.

FACE atelier Ultra Sheer Bronzer Cognac

Bronzer

Here is what the brand has to say about this bronzer:

Ultra Bronzer represents the perfect marriage of performance and technology. They feature a sophisticated formulation that uses pure, micronized pigments surrounded by silicones, which create a cushion between the powder and the skin. Silky soft, Ultra Bronzer is the perfect complement to Ultra Foundation.

FACE atelier Cognac Blush

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. It gave my skin a nice healthy glow.
  2. It serves as a good base. Fab multi-tasking product.

CONS

  1. I found as liquid as the foundation I reviewed in the first part. I prefer my bronzers and foundation slightly thicker.

FACE atelier Revenge Lipstick

FACE atelier lipstick

Here is what the brand has to say about this lipstick:

Seal it with a kiss, using FACE atelier’s high performing lipsticks, available in matte, satin or frost finishes.   FACE atelier Lipsticks are extremely well-pigmented ensuring long-lasting results.  They are also hydrating and moisturizing due to the high content of emollients in the formula.

Here are my thoughts:

  1. I found it long-lasting. It stayed on for hours.
  2. I am a fan of matte lipsticks so this is right up my street.

CONS

  1. I am not sure about this blood-red shade.

FACE atelier Ultra Sheer Bronze

Ultra Sheer Blush

Hers is what FACE atelier has to say about this bronze:

Silicone-based Ultra Sheer is magic in a bottle.  Hydrating yet oil-free, add it to Ultra Foundation to subtly alter its hue, or use over Ultra Foundation to highlight. Use Ultra Sheer alone for a diaphanous finish that floats on your skin as it luminates.  It’s a blush – a bronzer -a highlighter.

Ultra Sheer. Simple to use. Simply miraculous. Moisture, heat and sebum resistant.

FACE atelier Makeup

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. I achieved a natural highlighting effect using this bronze.
  2. My face had a warm, healthy glow.
  3. It can be used as a highlighter or a bronzer. Great multi-tasking product.

CONS

None.

The Ultra Sheer Bronze is my favourite product off all 4 products. I see myself buying it.

Overall, I strongly recommend the FACE atelier Ultra Loose Powder, Ultra Blush Mocha, Lip Glaze Shiraz, and the Ultra Sheer Bronze. As for the others, you would have to try them yourself and decide.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts? Drop me a comment, let’s chat.

Thanks for reading and have a crazy weekend.

Product Review: SkinChemists Coldtox Activ+ Professional Facial Treatment

IMG_3251

I received this Coldtox Activ+ Professional Facial Treatment by SkinChemists some weeks ago and I was super excited to try it out. This brand is quite popular with the celebrities, The Duchess of Cornwall, Tulisa Contostavlos, Rosie Fortescue, Amy Childs, Jourdan Dunn, all love it so you can imagine how exciting it was for me to review this product. I love home based beauty products I can use by myself, I don’t have the luxury of time to head off to a spa (although I would love to) for a facial, so having a product to try out from the comfort of my home felt so good.

This product is a professional quality rejuvenation treatment, one of its kind available on the consumer market to use at home. It comes in a pack containing 5 ampoules, which I used for 5 consecutive days.

Here is what SkinChemists had to say about this Coldtox Activ+ Professional Facial Treatment:

This pioneering professional facial treatment contains skinChemists own unique formulation of active ingredients designed to stimulate cell renewal whilst deeply hydrating the skin. The skin will experience a total regeneration and be left soft and supple, looking young, revived and healthy. Rich in active ingredient Marine Collagen, the serum will counteract the loss of collagen content associated with age as well as other physiological changed that result in lower moisture levels in the skin. Snow Algae, natures key to skin longevity, combats the effects of time by mimicking the mechanism of calorie restriction, improving the endurance of the skin. This in turn improves cellular defenses, as well as reinforcing, smoothing and hydrating the skin. Swiss Glacier Water splashes the skin with a dose of 24 hour refreshing hydration – maintaining the skin’s moisture all day long and providing in-depth comfort for dry skin.

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  • It comes in a nice package and the ampoules are quite easy to snap open.
  • There is more than enough in each ampoule, to apply generously on the face and neck.
  • It works! After the 5 day treatment, my skin looked and felt really smooth.
  • For a facial treatment that works, the price is quite reasonable at £79.95.

CONS

  • None.

I recommend this product to anyone needing a home based professional facial treatment. I can’t fault this product as it does the job perfectly. My skin is glowing.
