Product Review: MAC Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation

I am a MAC girl. The brand is so amazing. I adore most of their beauty products. They are one of the best in the market today, and I enjoy using them. So today, I bring to you the MAC Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation review, I am loving at the moment:

Now I have two different shades of the MAC Matchmaster foundation because the sales girl sold me the whole shade at first. Some of these makeup salesgirls are indeed clueless when it comes to makeup for the dark skin. Many of them still think all black women should use the darkest shade available, so if you are a coloured girl, keep your eyes wide open when testing makeup products, so you don’t end up with the wrong shade like I did.

Anyways, back to my story, so I was sold the wrong shade at the first, which is the foundation on the left and below – MAC Matchmaster SPF Foundation 9.0.

It was way too dark on my face, so I went in search of another shade, and decided to settle for the MAC Matchmaster SPF in 7.0. Looking at it, I think the perfect shade for me is the shade in between these two, which should be the 8.0, but I wanted to still make use of the wrong shade I bought already, so I mix both foundations together to get the right shade, and that has worked fine so far. I use the dark foundation – 9.0,  to contour as well.

Here is the 7.0 shade below:

I was applying both shades on here.

  1. I love the size. I have been using this for ages and it is worth every penny.
  2. I love the demi-matte finish.
  3. This foundation blends in beautifully and stays on all day.
  4. It provides good coverage. It covers all the black heads and pigmentation issues.
  5. It has SPF 15 which is fantastic.
  6. There is a foundation for every skin tone, as long as you keep your eyes open when testing in the shops, lol..
CONS
  1. It costs for £29 for a 35ml bottle so it is quite pricey, but so worth it.

  1. God I hate when the salesperson has no clue what their doing. It is the same for me, because I am not white nor brown- I am yellow- I either get sold a really pale shade that makes me look like a ghost or a muddy caramel colour that makes me look orange.

  2. I’ve never tried any MAC foundations as I never have time to travel to their counter (it’s quite far away) and I refuse to buy a £29 foundation online before swatching as I’m notorious for selecting the wrong shade! I am intrigued by this collection however and will keep an eye out for it next time I’m in the city.

  3. I use and love mac products. The foundation are really good and like you advise I always open my eyes wide and follow up when they are being tried on. Anyway I know my right Shade now. Pricey but it is worth it. Thanks for sharing

  4. I’m a huge fan of MAC having used their products religiously for around 15 years. I’ve never tried a MAC foundation though – no idea why!

  5. I personally have used MAC and still do. Currently I am using NARS to give it a try and with all honesty both works great for my skin and prefer MAC as it is much more budget friendly. I hate it when I try to purchase and the salesperson is just clueless.

  7. To be honest if a ‘trained’ member of the team sold me the wrong colour foundation for my skin I would be livid especially at that price and probably wouldn’t go back for seconds! I am using the No7 matchmake and I love it! Would recommend it to anyone, it even recommends what blusher and lipstick would suit you best.
