Menswear Style at BAFTAS 2016

With the 2016 TV BAFTA awards ceremony coming up on May 8th, many of us can’t wait to see who is wearing what on the red carpet. I will be paying special attention to the fellas this year, as most of them always look so dapper. Some of the men I LOVE seeing on the red carpet because of their brilliant sense of style are – Idris Elba, Leonardo Dicaprio, Michael Fassbender, amongst others.

Some of the famous looks these stylish men are usually spotted rocking on the red carpet are can be achieved from shopping at House of Fraser.

Here are some male style ideas for inspiration:

The Smart Commuter Wear

Smart Commuter Suit

This look is a regular on the red carpet. Most men go for this smart commuter look, as it is a safe option. The well-known comedian; Peter Kay from the BBC sitcom – Peter Kay’s Car Share, usually goes for this look and looks very smart rocking it. Likewise, property developer Simon Foster from the gripping psychological TV drama – Doctor Foster, is often seen in a shirt, trousers and blazer.

The Formalwear specialists Skopes Palmer, have made this outfit super comfortable to wear thanks to its high wool content, water repellency, stain resistant coating, two-way stretch, and its unique odour resist `Fresh Finish’. It is a perfect suit for the red carpet, work and everyday use in general. No wonder the celebs love it!

The Smart Casual

The smart casual look is very easy to achieve. All you will need to nail this look is a formal shirt – blue, black, white or red would look fab, and tuck it into a pair of some nice denim designer jeans and put on a blazer in a similar colour with your jeans, and you are good to go.

One of the UK’s leading artisan bakers, and celebrity chef; Paul Hollywood from BBC TV show – The Great British Bake Off, is also known for regularly stepping out rocking a smart casual outfit. This look can take you from the office, straight to the pub/bar easily.

The Trench Coat Look

Having a trench coat on definitely adds more style points to your fashion sense. Men’s trench coats have the power to upgrade your overall look for the better. No wonder it is loved by the celebs. Benedict Cumberbatch from the crime drama TV series – Sherlock, is usually seen on the streets of London and beyond wearing his trusty trench coat.

What do you think of the 3 looks? Which is your favourite?

Product Review: MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

MAC Studio Fix Picture

I am a MAC Cosmetics lover, as you should all know by now, so this review should come as no surprise. I have been using the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation for a couple of years on and off, and I can see myself using it for a very long time. This product is a foundation and powder in one, designed to be used dry. It creates a matte, velvety finish by absorbing the skin oils.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is a one-step powder and foundation that gives your skin a smooth, flawless, all-matte finish with medium-to-full coverage. Its long-wearing, velvety texture allows your skin to breathe. Studio Fix is available in a wide range of colors.

How to use: Apply to skin using a sponge or your desired brush, and blend. You can also blend with your fingertips.

MAC Studio Fix

Here are my thoughts:

PROS
  1. It provides great medium-full coverage, leaving my face feeling and looking smooth/flawless, hiding all skin discoloration, and blemishes.
  2. It stays on for hours, very long-lasting, and because I barely need to top-up so often, I usually have mine for a while.
  3. There are over 40 shades available so there is a shade for every one. I got mine in NW45, and it suits my skin tone perfectly.
  4. It is very affordable at £22.
  5. It is easily accessible. You can grab one in stores at Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis, and online as well.

CONS
  1. Although it is a powder and foundation in one, I find that most of the time, I still need to apply a bit of the MAC Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation or a tinted mosituriser, before applying the Studio Fix, depending on the look I am looking to achieve.

Overall, I love the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, and I recommend it to anyone looking for the convenience of having a powder and foundation in one. It is a fantastic product, worth every penny, and I will be buying it again and again. You can watch my vlog here below.
