Winter Layering Favourites

When it comes to the autumn/winter season, my favourite part is the layering trend. I find it super stylish; the trend allows me play with different looks and designs, which is always fun. With the current chilly weather, I have been busy playing with different winter layering favourites, here are some of my current favourites –

Stylish Scarves

When it comes to layering, I always finish up my look with a nice comfy scarf. Scarves have an amazing way of switching up any look, and I’m such a huge fan. If you are looking for easy ways to stock up on winter layering favourites, this is a nice place to start.

Scarves are a nice accessory to have on, I have quite a collection and I am always looking to add more. Having scarves in different colours, fabrics and designs, means that you would always have a piece when you need it.

A Comfy Coat/Jacket

To enjoy the whole layering process, it is important to ensure you have fab options for stylish and comfy coats or jackets. The art of layering is only a success when you get the outerwear right, so make sure you have this bit sorted. Shop around and try out different pieces to get the right ones for your layering needs. You want a comfy coat/jacket that would allow you layer conveniently, and look great.

I like to have a few coats and jackets in different styles and coats for various occasions. This helps me in creating trendy autumn/winter looks.

Light Tops

For layering, the lighter pieces stay underneath and the bulkier pieces stay on top. So it is a great idea to have stylish light tops to have underneath a cardigan or blazer.  I like to go for light long sleeve cotton tops in different colours and styles. They are super comfy and stylish, amazing to have on.

Stylish Cardigans

Investing a bit more on stylish cardigans is also a great way to step up your layering art and fully embrace the autumn/winter season. Having a few cardigans for various occasions is always a great idea.

As with everything else, I always recommend going for quality over quantity.

Celebrity Style: Olivia Culpo and Rita Ora

The Celebrity Style feature has been silent this month because I have been busy publishing all that needs to go live in September but I am glad I got a free slot for this post. I hope you enjoy reading the Celebrity Style features as much as I enjoy writing them.

The Celebrity Style feature of the month goes to Oliva Culpo and Rita Ora. The beautiful ladies battle it out in this off shoulder top by Caroline Costas.

This off shoulder Carmen cotton top features layered ruffles, dramatic flared long sleeves, structured internal boning, and a unique silhouette. It currently retails for $485. Who do you think wore it better?

Well, I think Rita Ora (on the right) wore it better. I prefer the way she styled her look. Her pairing the top with skinny black jeans is very stylish and very smart. I would have done the same. The black lace up boots go well with the pieces, it adds a bit of edge to the look.

Olivia Culpo looks OK as well. I like her black sandals and cute bag. I think she looks really pretty but the shorts ruined her look for me. This Caroline Costas Carmen Stripe Ruffle Blouse is not my style so I can’t see myself buying it, plus I think the blouse would swallow me. But if I have to wear it or a similar piece, pairing with skinny jeans is the safest way to wear it. The blouse already has a lot going on, so you don’t need anything else to compete for attention when wearing this. Rita Ora nailed her look but Olivia Culpo has her HOT legs on display and they are competing for attention. Olivia’s outfit looks a little too much if that makes sense.

Who do you think wore it better? Olivia Culpo or Rita Ora? Sound off in the comment section below.

Is Fashion Important?

Outfit Post FSP Image

The saying – ‘dress the way you want to be addressed’, is so true. Your dressing is usually the first thing people notice about you, when you step into a room. Your dressing gives the first impression of who you are, before you even say a word.

Many people embrace fashion as a form of adornment and self-expression, and that is the reason why fashion will never fade, as it is a form of communication and expression. No wonder the fashion industry is worth over £26 million to the UK economy.

Our outfits send a message to the world, so if we are dressed shabbily, we will likely be treated shabbily,  if we dress elegantly, we will likely be admired by many.

Miuccia Prada, heralded designer and head of the iconic Prada fashion conglomerate, described fashion beautifully –

“Fashion is the first step out of poverty. You have nothing and then you put something on. It is one of the first things you do to elevate yourself. … Why are people scandalized by spending money on clothes? Everybody is so passionate about this — there’s a resistance to fashion — an idea that to love fashion is to be stupid. Clothes are very intimate. When you get dressed, you are making public your idea about yourself, and I think that embarrasses people.”

I believe so much in the saying – ‘people will always stare so make it worth that while’, especially when I am having my outfit photos taken for the blog. I make sure I am dressed to impress, to make the stares worth everyone’s while. Fashion is more than the clothes and accessories we put on, fashion is art, because the same amount of artistic expression goes into designing and styling clothes, shoes, a music video or a painting. I am a fashion lover so I may be biased in thinking fashion is very important, regardless of your taste, lifestyle, where you shop, and what you wear. We all need fashion, which makes it important. I think the question should be, how important is fashion to you?
