Life Update and Thank You 2023

Hey friends! I can’t believe the year 2023 is almost over. It has been a very busy year; a year I can never forget with the many highs and a few lows. I am not one to dwell on the “lows” though as it is a waste of vital resources. Hence, I always focus on the good, noble, and positive experiences. Here are some of the things I have been up to this year –

Study

I have been up to all sorts, work and life has been really busy! As many of you are aware, I took a leap of faith and went back to university a few years ago to study a degree in Psychology. I finished the degree with a First Class in the summer at The Open University, and this led to a new adventure in September. I am currently studying a Masters degree in Health Psychology at Aston University, Birmingham. I was privileged to get a scholarship for this degree, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to specialise in Health Psychology. Health Psychology is something I am very passionate about and I have had my eye on this Masters degree for a few years now. It’s a lot of work and fun at the same time, right up my street, which is just amazing.

Work

With regards to work, many of you may be aware I went back to traditional employment last year. I am still working in the same organisation remotely but in a different role – Relational Mentor, which is now more relevant to my areas of interest. It’s a fantastic role and I am so thankful for the golden opportunity to do what I enjoy to do best.

Blog

So yes, the year 2023 has been very busy in general. I am glad it’s over and I am looking forward to the new year. My blog posts have not been as regular as I wanted them to, due to how busy the year has been, but I am getting into the swing of things, so expect more regular blog posts in the new year and going forward. There will be a few changes as to regards to the content. I won’t be writing blogs on beauty muse and style icons anymore. Also, the tone of the blog posts will likely change slightly and become more personal. I have been running Fashion and Style Police for 11 years now, and a lot has changed in my life as anyone could imagine. So look out for new blog categories and new changes here and there.

Should you wear perfume in the office?

Wearing perfume for everyday work can be a great way to boost your confidence and make your presence known in the workplace. Not only does it help you feel at ease, but it can also help you make a good impression on colleagues and clients. However, it’s important to remember that what works for some people may not work for others. It’s best to err on the side of caution and ensure your scent isn’t too strong, because these fragrances can be distracting and off-putting to some people, giving the wrong impression. It’s also a good idea to consider the type of workplace you’re in, as some environments may not be suitable for wearing perfume. Ultimately, it’s important to respect personal boundaries and opt for lightly scented fragrances or colognes.

What you should look for in an office fragrance

If you want to wear perfume in the office, there are several key factors to consider. First, it’s a good idea to choose a fresh and lightly scented fragrance or cologne that isn’t long-lasting or heavy on the nose. Instead, opt for a subtle, balanced fragrance that will give you the confidence to walk into any room or setting. You’ll want to make sure you pick a scent that is appropriate for the environment. Additionally, you should go for a lightly scented fragrance that you personally enjoy. After all, you’ll be the one wearing it all day, so you should make sure it’s something that you feel confident and comfortable in.

Light, fresh and zesty scent notes are often the best choice

Light, fresh, and zesty scent notes can make all the difference when it comes to smelling professional and confident in the workplace. Not only do they create a refreshing atmosphere, but they can also give you an edge when it comes to making a good impression. Aquatic and citrus scent notes are particularly good for the office, as they are not overwhelming or distracting.

Some of the popular perfumes include Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue, Jo Malone’s Lime and Basil, and Frédéric Malle Cologne Indélébile. All of these fragrances contain top notes of citrus or lime, giving them a light, refreshing scent. They are all long-lasting and won’t be too overpowering in enclosed office spaces. Wearing any of these scents will give you the confidence to take on the day and be successful in your professional life.

Fragrances to avoid at work

When it comes to wearing a fragrance in the workplace, it’s important to be mindful of what you’re wearing and how strong it is. Some fragrances, especially Eau de Parfum, can be quite strong and overly intense. To make sure you don’t offend the noses of those around you, here are some fragrances you should avoid at work:

  • Spicy notes, such as pepper, cardamom, coriander, ginger, and so on.
  • Intensely sweet scents, such as vanilla or patchouli
  • Heavy woodsy scents, such as sandalwood or cedar

On the other hand, if you want to wear something that’s still pleasant and appropriate for the workplace, here are some tips for choosing a lighter fragrance:

  • Opt for a more subtle scent. Look for a fragrance with a clean and fresh scent.
  • Go for something that isn’t too strong or overpowering.
  • Consider a fragrance that’s specifically designed for the workplace.
Final words

Ultimately, the best perfumes for work are often lightly scented ones. If you are still unsure which one to get, you can instead buy women’s perfume samples and try them out before getting a fragrance. Also, if you have sensitive skin or allergies, be sure to keep an eye on how you’re reacting to your fragrance and take any notes that you might need to keep in mind when buying fragrances in the future.
