Lindsey Wixson Covers Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2017

Hey peeps. I have the very first magazine cover for the month of May. The lovely Lindsey Wixson covers Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2017 issue, wearing Valentino. This newsstand cover shot by Erik Madigan Heck, is all shades of beautiful!

 

 

Lindsey Wixson is a 22-year-old American fashion model, known for her unique looks, defined in part by her “bee-stung lips”, “rosebud pout”, and gapped front teeth. I really like the cover. I think the powers that be picked the right cover girl. Her face is like a breath of fresh air, which is fab!

This May issue cover is very different in a good way. It would definitely stand out on the newsstands for all the right reasons. Wixson’s makeup is nicely done and the cover is very colourful, which is great for the spring season.

The photography game here is so tight, the photos are giving me life. But I wasn’t expecting anything less from Harper’s Bazaar and Erik Madigan Heck. They are the real deal.

I really like the subscribers’ cover too. I think it is also really beautiful, but I prefer the newsstands cover. I will be reading this issue if I come across it but I don’t see myself buying a copy. It does look great, and I may have both it just for the pictures, but I am not so sure I would like the content.

Alessandra Ambrosio Covers Cosmopolitan UK August 2016

Cosmo UK August 2016

The beautiful and sexy Victoria’s Secret model – Alessandra Ambrosio is not your average millionaire supermodel. This beauty is on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine August 2016 issue and she is looking smoking hot on it! Not that I was expecting anything less stunning from this amazing looking woman.

I am happy to see Alessandra on the cover of Cosmo. I have not seen or heard much from her online so this cover is a breath of fresh air. I love everything about the cover. The pose and outfit is wicked. Her hair and makeup is spot on. The entire cover design is perfect for summer. I love it.

Looking at her, it is hard to believe she is a mum of 2. I guess a lot of work is done on a daily basis to maintain that figure.

I like the fact that Victoria’s Secret allows their models to take time off work to have kids. I wasn’t expecting to hear that about the company. It looks and sounds like a vain place to work but hey it’s not. Aleesandra Ambrosio confirms it in the quote below:

“I wanted to have kids at 20, so 26 was already old for me. I felt it was great timing and I took off a whole year. Victoria’s Secret were fine with freezing my contract and going back later, so I wasn’t worried about my career.”

Good to know this is allowed in the modelling industry. I guess the agencies and designers won’t want the models strutting their belly bumps on the runaway, so it kind of makes sense to give them time off to start a family. What do you think?

Alicia Vikander Covers British Vogue August 2016

Vogue is one of those magazines you are programmed to love as a fashion enthusiast. It is commonly known as the ‘Fashion Bible’, and it is one of those monthly magazines you see on the desks of fashion stylists, models, celebrities, bloggers and vloggers. I am one of the few fashion bloggers that is vocal about my dislike for Vogue Magazines. I find them bland and so boring. I can count on 1 hand how many Vogue Magazines I have bought with my money, and on 2 hands how many I have read.

The magazine’s articles hardly interest me, and the covers are usually a hit or a massive miss, but I still love talking about them. However, I do love their online magazine. I love the articles they have on there. I find them interesting and down to earth, and I remember visiting the online site on a daily basis when I had the luxury of time. Wish I could do the same now. Wish they could fill the magazine pages with more relatable and interesting articles, but I guess I am not the target market.

The cover girl for this month’s vogue is Alicia Vikander. Her name does not ring a bell, but after some digging, I realised she is the Oscar-winning star from the hit movie – The Danish Girl. I am yet to see the movie but I do want to so I will be keeping my eyes open for when I do come across it. Gosh I miss Blockbusters sometimes. I hope it does not take forever to come on Netflix.

I am not a fan of this cover at all. I am not feeling her pose, hair and makeup. It just looks boring. However, some of the articles on the cover look promising. Like Accessory Preview – The bags and shoes to upscale your look, Style Agenda – Get ahead of the new season, and When a holiday becomes a life reset.

I will be looking out for this issue in the waiting rooms.
