Self-confidence is something many of us will have to work on at some point in our lives. Depending on our life experiences, developing our self-confidence may have been easy or quite hard. It is so easy to lose self-confidence and develop low self-esteem. However, once you learn these three tricks to boosting self-confidence, you will never find yourself lacking in this department again. I was born very confident. I was outspoken and vibrant as a child, but I quickly learned that being outspoken and confident was not common in my environment. So I went into my shell and it took me decades to come out of it. I am still a work-in-progress — there’s always room for improvement in everything, but I am no longer where I used to be.
3 tricks to boost self-confidence
There are so many ways you can increase self-confidence. Some of my tips work better than others, so it’s up to you to see which will work and then implement them in your daily life. Here are some tricks that have helped me boost my self-confidence. They may help you too!
If you don’t like something, change it!
I strongly believe we have the liberty to change what we don’t like about ourselves physically. If you can’t change it or don’t want to for whatever reason, then we should happily embrace it without letting it hurt our self-confidence. One thing I didn’t like about myself was the hair that started growing on my chin years ago. It felt odd to have hair there, and waxing and other hair removal techniques didn’t work well for me. So I decided to have laser hair removal done on my chin. It worked great and helped improve my self-confidence massively.
Another non-surgical cosmetic treatment I have done is fat freezing. I have had the treatment done twice and I was really impressed with the results. Many reputable clinics in the UK offer these types of non-surgical weight-loss treatments for those who want it. There’s really no reason to live with something that you don’t like about yourself if you can easily change it with a simple procedure. The great thing about modern technology and non-surgical procedures is there is little to no downtime like with surgery.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Playing safe is a comfort zone for many of us by default. Big dreams are scary and chasing the big dreams are even scarier. So many of us play small out of fear. We don’t bother chasing our dreams, but instead are content with whatever life throws at us. This was once me until I got tired of playing small and decided to chase my dreams. Setting up this blog was once a dream, and now it is over seven years old! Going full-time with my blog was also a dream, and now I have been blogging and doing online gigs for about five years. Going back to University to study Psychology was once a dream, and now I am rounding up my first year. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Care for yourself.
It is so easy to lose ourselves while caring for others. When life gets really busy we tend to neglect ourselves, and this can affect our state of mind. To boost your self-confidence, care for yourself a lot more. Here are some ideas for you — dress nicely, have your nails done, wear some perfume, put on some makeup, have a massage, sleep well, eat and drink healthfully, read a book, relax some more, the list goes on and on. If you want to feel a lot more confident, you should do things that would make you feel good about yourself.
We usually compare ourselves to others in a negative way. What we need to know is that we are the only version of ourselves, and our version compares to no other. Stop comparing because there’s nothing to compare, and you are a star!
