4 Fashion Faux Pas to Avoid

I see many ‘fashionistas’ walking around in outfits they have no business wearing and I find it quite funny sometimes. It makes me wonder if they took a good look at themselves in a mirror before leaving the house. Some fashion mistakes truly make me cringe and I usually have to stop myself from letting the shock of the outfit show on my face. It can be quite hard on some days.

Here are the top 4 Fashion Faux Pas to avoid:

Animal Print Overload

Wearing Animal Print pieces from head to toe is a common fashion faux pas, and I wonder why. It is one fashion mistake you should avoid making except you are Cookie.

I love wearing Animal Prints. I think they are edgy and stylish, and I find them so easy to style. The best way to style animal print pieces is to wear 1/2 animal print pieces and pacify them with plain pieces like I have done below.

Visible Bra Steps

Visible bra steps are a no-no for me except they are deliberately visible. I see so many women walking around with visible straps, and some wear pieces that cling so bad, I cam actually see the outline of the bra. Some do not wear bras altogether, and they walk around with visible nipples. This is a fashion no-no. It looks horribly wrong, it makes me wonder why? A great outfit can be ruined by visible underwear.

I am not a fan of this trend, but there are many ways to stylishly show off your bras, if that is your intention.

There should be no reason to show off your nipples.

Go for bras in different designs, so you have the right bras for various outfits.

Too-Tight Clothing

Clothes that look too tight a Fashion Faux Pas. Get measured and go for the clothes that fit correctly. Tight clothes look so wrong.

Creased-up Mess

Clothes do not look good wrinkled so make use of a good steam iron. If you are like me and you hate ironing or you are not good at it, go for pieces made from fabrics that do not crease as much.

Celebrity Style: Olivia Culpo and Rita Ora

The Celebrity Style feature has been silent this month because I have been busy publishing all that needs to go live in September but I am glad I got a free slot for this post. I hope you enjoy reading the Celebrity Style features as much as I enjoy writing them.

The Celebrity Style feature of the month goes to Oliva Culpo and Rita Ora. The beautiful ladies battle it out in this off shoulder top by Caroline Costas.

This off shoulder Carmen cotton top features layered ruffles, dramatic flared long sleeves, structured internal boning, and a unique silhouette. It currently retails for $485. Who do you think wore it better?

Well, I think Rita Ora (on the right) wore it better. I prefer the way she styled her look. Her pairing the top with skinny black jeans is very stylish and very smart. I would have done the same. The black lace up boots go well with the pieces, it adds a bit of edge to the look.

Olivia Culpo looks OK as well. I like her black sandals and cute bag. I think she looks really pretty but the shorts ruined her look for me. This Caroline Costas Carmen Stripe Ruffle Blouse is not my style so I can’t see myself buying it, plus I think the blouse would swallow me. But if I have to wear it or a similar piece, pairing with skinny jeans is the safest way to wear it. The blouse already has a lot going on, so you don’t need anything else to compete for attention when wearing this. Rita Ora nailed her look but Olivia Culpo has her HOT legs on display and they are competing for attention. Olivia’s outfit looks a little too much if that makes sense.

Who do you think wore it better? Olivia Culpo or Rita Ora? Sound off in the comment section below.

The Style Icon – Taraji P Henson

This Style Icon needs no introduction but for those who are not familiar with her, Taraji P Henson is an American actress and singer, famous for her role as Cookie in the wildly successful TV show – Empire. I love me some Taraji P Henson any time, any day. Her style is literally style goals for me. I love how confident she looks every time she steps out. She is always looking so stylish, especially on the Red Carpet.

She has a banging body and she knows how to dress it. She wears her clothes, her clothes do not wear her! Just check her out in the white strapless jumpsuit above. She looks amazing! I love the fact that she did not over accessorize the look, she kept it very chic and very simple. White is definitely her colour.

Taraji P Henson is the definition of a true style icon. I can relate with her style totally. I can see myself rocking most of the pieces I see her wearing. She looks effortlessly chic every time and her carriage is superb. There is nothing more attractive than a person comfortable in his or hew own skin. Taraji can look good in pretty much anything with that figure and carriage. This brown beauty ticks all the style boxes for me. I adore her.

I also love the eccentric fashion sense of her character (Cookie) in Empire. It is quirky, colourful and crazy, definitely not my style but I love it. It is fun to look at and I get some inspiration from it sometimes.

You can see a bit Cookie’s style below:
