Give to those who have nothing this Christmas with Solace Women’s Aid

This year has been an odd year for me. There has been a lot of ups and downs, but the downs have been a bit more than normal for some weird reason. I am glad the year is almost over. I am looking forward to the Christmas break and starting 2020 from a clean slate. It is so easy to get carried away this season with feeling Christmassy. There are presents to buy and wrap, decorations to put up and shopping to do, it can be too easy to stay focused on ourselves and what we need.

Give to those who have nothing this Christmas

This year and going forward, I am doing it differently. I am giving the little I have to those who have nothing this Christmas. It is surprising to know how many people go without day after day in one of the richest countries in the world. Homelessness is rising day after day, women and children are fleeing their homes due to domestic violence. These people have nothing this Christmas. Imagine if we all gave the little we had to a charity of our choice. That would put smiles on so many faces.

Solace Womens Aid

The charity of my choice this Christmas is Solace Womens Aid (and this is not an ad). The charity focuses on supporting women and children fleeing domestic abuse in London. I have no ties with this charity. I just think they are doing a great job and I felt like supporting the team through a donation and a blog post. Domestic violence is a major issue for the most vulnerable in the society and it breaks my heart to hear about women and children being forced to leave their home and belongings to be away from male abuse. These women and children usually leave with little or nothing, to start all over again. The fear of the unknown means many women would rather stay in abusive environments than seek refuge elsewhere. Which is why charities like Solace Womens Aid is amazing and your donations can help them do more.

Every month, I plan to donate to a new charity and share a blog post about the charity as well. I hope we all have an amazing time getting ready for the big day this month, and remember those who have nothing this season.

Thanks for reading and donating. Have a great week.

Blogging tip – How often should you blog?

A quick Google search with the keywords – How regularly should you blog, would bring up all sorts of articles with different types of advice. Some advocate for blogging once a day, others once a week and some even recommend multiple times a day if you can. How regularly you should blog depends on your blog niche. When I say blog niche, I don’t mean fashion, beauty, travel and rest. I mean You! Yes you are your blog niche believe it or not, so you should set the pace of how often you should post new content.

How often should you blog?

When I started blogging in 2012, I was posting regularly. I wanted to grow my blog quickly and I was full of ideas, so I went with it. All my hard work and dedication worked out in the end as my blog grew and grew. The blog is still growing and evolving. Growth never stops and my technique for growing steady hasn’t really changed all these years. I still blog regularly as many of my regular readers will know. It works for me as I write really quickly and I always have ideas for blog posts.

So back to the question – How regularly should you blog? It depends on YOU! If you have loads of ideas and time to get them all typed and ready to go, then you may be able to post on a daily basis. However, you should be careful not to overwork yourself and burn out. That will defeat the purpose. You should also be careful not to rush it and then run out of ideas. I always advise new bloggers to start slowly if possible and get into the habit of writing regularly. That way they train their brain to think of blog post ideas quickly and type them out even more quickly. My posts are usually around 500 words on average, and that works for most of my posts.

Bring your unique self to the table

At the end of the day, blogging is all about personal, and you will only succeed with it if you bring your uniqueness to it. Having said that, I always advise my blog coaching clients to blog as regularly as possible in other to have my opportunities to have their posts ranked in the search engines. Google and the other search engines like blogs that post regular unique content, so doing that regularly gives you an edge in the saturated blogging industry.

Staying motivated when you work and school from home

I have been working full time from home for almost 6 years now. It has been a life changing experience that has taught me so much about life, work and people in general. Many are still not used to the idea that people can make a full time living wage working from home. I got my own fair share of dealing with these sort of people, but I think they are now used to the idea. However, from this October, I will also be studying from home alongside working. I decided to go back to university for a completely new degree – Psychology at The Open University. So I will be working and studying from home for the next 3 years at least. Many wonder how I will be staying motivated while I do all these from home. That question promoted this post.

Staying motivated when you work and school from home

Doing anything from home isn’t easy. The home is your safe zone with lots of distractions, so you usually have your guard down. Which is why many struggle to do anything serious from home. While work or study, when you can chill on the sofa watching Netflix, or curl up in bed and just relax. It can be tricky to work or study from home because the home can be too relaxing to get anything done. So the way I look at it is different. I can’t do anything about how relaxing and homely my house is because I need it to be that way to function. Which is why I work on myself rather than worrying about the distractions.

I stay grounded

Me being grounded means I remember the reason why I am working or studying from home, and that reason keeps me focused and motivated. I need to work from home in order to be the kind of mum I want to be for my kids. They are at the stage where I feel I need to be present, which is why working from home works for us. I work while they are in school and I take any free hours I get after they are tucked in bed in the evenings and during the weekends. Since I am going to be studying as well, I will be sharing the free hours between work and study.

My personality helps

With my busy life, I hardly have free time. I do make out time to care for myself because that is really important, but I don’t have as much free time as others because I am juggling a lot. The truth is I am fine with limited free time. I am not much of a social butterfly even before I got married and had kids, so much hasn’t changed in that area. I rather stay at home and watch a movie then go partying for example, and that has always been me. This personality makes it easy for me to work and study at home because I don’t feel isolate, or feel like I am missing out on something.

At the end of the day, it all depends on you and what what you want out of life. It also depends on your passions and relentless you are in pursuit of them. I don’t really have to motivate myself to do any of these things, they come natural to me. Which is why I always say don’t go with the crowd, do what works for you.

Do you work or study from home? Do you do both like me? How are you staying motivated? Let’s chat. Drop me a comment in the comments section. Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely day.
