6 Ways to Shop for Christmas Without Going Broke

Christmas is my favourite time of the year. I love how everywhere I turn is filled with the Christmas cheer and the spirit of giving and sharing love. The kids are so excited for Christmas already and I’ve been making plans for the gifts I will give my friends and family.

Recently I came across comments of people who expressed their concerns about how much they have to spend on Christmas gifts. Of course, everyone wants to make sure that they do their own bit and show their love with a beautiful and thoughtful gift but feel that the ideal gift is way beyond their budget.

This inspired me to share 6 ways you can shop for Christmas without going broke this year.

Buy your Christmas gifts early

Most people postpone their Christmas shopping to a week before Christmas when millions shoppers rush for Christmas gifts. That’s the time when such items are expensive. If you’re shopping for Christmas on a budget, then the wisest thing to do is to shop before the heat of the Christmas season. That’s the time items will be relatively cheaper. Plus you have more time to shop around.

Be on the lookout for discounts

Christmas is the time when retailers are in fierce competition with each other. That’s why there are a lot of amazing deals and discounts. Take time off to walk around the malls and keep on a lookout for those Christmas deals. There are also awesome items that make great gifts on Amazon at really attractive prices.

DIY your Christmas gifts

Who wouldn’t like to receive a thoughtful Christmas gift? There’s nothing as thoughtful as putting in effort to create an awesome gift for your loved one. Such gifts are timeless and always very special and within budget. All you need to do is get some arts and craft materials and make something straight from your heart. There are a lot of DIY Christmas gift ideas in Pinterest and they are really stunning.

Bake your Christmas gifts

I don’t know about you, but food and goodies seems to taste the best during Christmas. The Christmas season adds a whole new different flavour to anything you cook or bake. Why not turn that into a Christmas gift?

Package a couple of your homemade Christmas cookies or Christmas cupcakes and put a lovely little bow. Such a gift is budget friendly, extremely yummy and unforgettable.

Take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday

These are 2 of the most popular times during the year with the best deals you can ever dream of. Black Friday is the last Friday of November and Cyber Monday is the Monday that follows. Those are the times when shops both virtual and physical sell items at extremely cheap prices. But you need to shop fast during those times because there are millions of other shoppers rushing for those items too.

Recycle gifts

This may seem a little strange but you can find really awesome gifts when you look around your house for things you don’t need and jazz them up a bit. Do you have something you’re no longer using but would make a great gift for someone else? Or a stuffed toy that your kids no longer play with? Just give it a good wash or refurbish and that item will look good as new.

Have you started your Christmas shopping? How is that going?

Putting the Magic Back into Christmas

I love Christmas, always have and always will. I am sure you can tell with the snowflakes going on here. My kids are sick of listening to my Christmas carols on Spotify because I have been playing them since November. Yea I am crazy about Christmas like that. I use to love Christmas as a child, it was one of my favourite times in the year and it still is. I want my kids to love Christmas like that. There is so much to be thankful for.

Christmas is one of those seasons I just want to sit back, forget about work and all the troubles in life, and just enjoy the festive season with my loved ones. But I must confess, the best part of Christmas, is the counting down to the day. The build up is filled with decorations, Christmas gifts shopping (catch up on my Christmas gift idea posts if you missed them), the carols and the whole fuss.

This year will be a very different kind of Christmas and I can’t wait. I am putting the magic back into Christmas with a proper holiday in an amazing sunny location. I will be going on a proper holiday, the first proper holiday outside the EU since 2012, and I am really looking forward to it. I won’t be blogging as often as I regularly blog (which is daily), I will be taking time off blogging and social media to unwind and get ready for the new year. I am not too sure how many days I would take off blogging or how active/inactive I will be on social media yet. I am still planning my schedule and blog content for the rest of the year, so I will keep you all updated. But it looks like I will have my last post up on the 22nd, and drop in briefly after Christmas with a post or 2, then resume as normal after New Year.

I have not really taken time off the blog in a very long time so I am eagerly looking forward to this time off. God knows I need it so badly.

Online Shopping with Pouch

With the Christmas shopping in full swing, I am on the look out for vouchers and discounts that would help keep the cost of my Christmas shopping as low as possible. I still have quite a few items to get, but I on it and hoping to round-up all my shopping by the first week in December, so wish me luck.

I am doing ALL of my shopping online because I love shopping online and I find it so easy. Shopping online from the comfort of my home, anytime of the day is pure bliss for me. I don’t have to deal with the crowd and general rush going on at the moment.

So you can imagine how excited I was to come across a new shopping browser extension called Pouch.

Pouch is a browser extension that gives users access to the best available voucher code discounts straight to their shopping baskets. You don’t even have to actively search for voucher codes. Once you download the free browser extensions, it appears on your browser tab, and searches for voucher code discounts on retail sites you visit. Pouch ensures users never have to actively search for a voucher code again. Isn’t that the best online shopping tool ever? I think it is.

I downloaded this browser extension some days ago and I found it very user-friendly. It was very easy to download, no registration required. I just went on the website, and clicked on the “Download on Desktop for Free” tab. The download was completed in under 1 minute, and it has worked amazingly well ever since. It sits on the right hand of my browser. Once I click on the icon to check for available voucher codes on a website, all I need to do is simply paste the voucher code I want into the promo code box on the retail website I am shopping on to get the discount.

There are huge discounts available on thousands of UK websites like Marriott, The Body Shop, Adidas, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and many other stores. And these discounts here and there all add up in the end, and help save some money. I got 2 voucher codes on the Sainsbury’s website thanks to Pouch, some days ago.

As an online shopping lover and a very busy woman, I love the fact that Pouch would save me time and money without the hassle.  Once you download the very smart browser extension, it recognises the exact website you are on. When you click on the icon on the browser, it then presents the best available voucher codes for that website. It pretty much does all the work, you don’t even have to think it through.

I think Pouch is a great idea. The technology behind it still amazes me. I like the fact that I don’t have to go from 1 website to another in search of discount codes. And it is also completely free, and always will be.

How is your Christmas shopping going? Have you heard of the Pouch? What are your thoughts?
