Tip 1 – Understand your skin type

Choosing the right cleanser for your skin starts with you understanding what your skin type. It helps you pick cleansers with the ingredients your skin needs. You don’t want to go for a cleanser just because it is popular with beauty content creators, instead you want to choose the right cleanser that best suited for your skin. For instance, if you have a dry skin, you would want to try oil and cream based cleansers as they are more hydrating. While, if you have an oily skin, you would want to try foam cleansers as they are more lightweight and remove excess oil effortlessly. Understanding your skin type is the first step in getting your skincare routine right and picking the most appropriate cleanser. What is your skin type?

Tip 2 – Go for gentle cleansers

Like with everything skincare, always opt for gentle cleansers. Using harsh skincare products are never a good idea, especially for those with more sensitive skin. It is always best to go for gentler and more natural products that would do only good. Always check the ingredients before you buy a new cleanser or any skincare product, and make sure you are happy with all that is included. Which cleanser are you currently using?

Double cleanse

I have recently started double cleansing, first with a cleansing balm, and then with a water based cleanser. I do this about twice a week and I fnd that it leaves my skin very clean and clear. For this tip to work effectively, you should ensure that you are using the right cleansing products that would not leave your skin dehydrated. I have been trying out some new luxury skincare products that are really good and I would writing some beauty review posts soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Wash your face with lukewarm water

Still on cleansing, this should be done twice a day, once in the morning and before bedtime at night. It is best to avoid using hot water when cleansing the face as this can strip tye skin, leaving it dry and dehydrated. Always cleans with lukewarm water or cold water if you can manage it. This also applies to the body, hot water can damage the skin if used excessively, so for glowing skin, stick to lukewarm water temperature.

Apply skincare products in the right order

Always start with the thinnest/lightest to the thickest when applying skincare products. So for example, it is cleanse, tone, serum, moisturiser, and face oil. Also, give about 2/3 minutes for each product to be fully absorbed into the skin before applying the next product.

Massage your skincare products into the skin

When applying your skincare products, take your time with each product and step, to ensure the skincare products are fully abosobed. Apart from the fact that face massages are really relaxing, they also help boost circulation which helps your skin glow. This is one tip I am doing a lot more of and I am love it.

Use sunscreen and stay hydrated

Using sunscreen every day helps protect the skin from harmful rays and prevents premature skin ageing. Some moisturisers have sinscreen, some don’t. So always check to see if you need to apply separate sunscreen and include this in your daily skincare routine. Also, remember to drink the recommend amounts of water to ensure overall health.

3 Amazing Benefits of Castor Oil

Castor Oil is a vegetable oil from the castor plant known as Ricinus communis, and it is pretty popular thanks to its excellent benefits. I have been using Castor Oil for a few years now, and I am still discovering the never-ending benefits of this rich oil. However, like with most things, I have discovered a little goes a long way when using Castor Oil as it is pretty rich and thick, you would only require a small amount each time you use it.

Clears Pigmentation Blemishes

A little layer of Castor Oil can help in clearing pigmentation blemishes. For easier application, you may find it easier to mix a drop or 2 of Castor Oil with your regular serum or moisturiser, and then apply it to the required areas. Like I said, a little goes a long way with this oil so start with a little amount and see how you get on.

Deeply Moisturises the Skin and Hair

Castor Oil contains Ricinoleic Acid and Omega-6 fatty acids which make it a great moisturising product. If you have very dry skin and hair, you may want to give this oil a chance, it may work great for you. Castor Oil is widely known to moisturise, hydrate and soothe the scalp and skin. I recommend mixing Castor Oil with other carrier oils like Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil, in equal parts when using on hair or skin.

Promotes Hair Growth

Apart from moisturising dry and damaged hair, Castor Oil also promotes hair growth by improving blood circulation to the scalp, thanks to its Ricinoleic Acid. Regular use of Castor Oil can prevent hair breakage and premature graying, promote hair growth, and improve hair texture.

I always have a bottle of Castor Oil in my bathroom cabinet. It is one of my favourite recent skincare discoveries, but I handle it with caution as it can have negative effects if used excessively or incorrectly. Some of these are sunken or hollow cheeks, sagging skin, and facial hair growth.

Always start with a patch test to ensure it is safe for you to apply on the required skin and hair areas and handle it with caution. Discontinue if you notice any negative side effects, and always go for cold-pressed organic Castor Oil, and start with a small amount.

What are your experiences with Castor Oil? Are you a fan?
