How to care for your feet this autumn

I hate to break it to you but autumn is here officially now. The sunshine and lovely warm weather will be missed, but I am also looking forward to the lovely autumn weather. The trees are always so beautiful to look at and the weather is usually not too cold. I like to pay attention to my skincare in the autumn months. My feet get special attention in autumn. I like them soft, smooth and silky.

Many people take their feet for granted especially in the autumn/winter season because it is hidden in socks and thick boots. All sorts go on the feet is you leave them unattended. Think about untended blisters from wearing the right shoes or flaky rough skin from not moisturising your feet. It is shocking to find that many of us spend time taking care of our faces and getting our makeup right, but then neglect our feet. Only for us to try to catch in the summer season after months of neglect so we can wear our gladiator sandals.

Go see a podiatrist

A podiatrist is a healthcare professional who have been trained to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. These professionals also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections.

If you have been neglecting your feet, then you need to start caring for them today. Book an appointment with a podiatrist if you have corns and bunions. The professional will get them treated for you and check you have no infection waiting to spread. Don’t attempt to treat your corns yourself as you may do more harm than good. The podiatrist will also deal with any deformities and feet issues.

Go for a pedicure

Once you get the all clear from your podiatrist, you should be able to go in for a well deserved pedicure. Your toe nails and feet will thank you for the special TLC they get. Getting a foot massage is a must when you need to get your feet relaxed. A good foot massage works like magic.

Avoid nail polish

Now this tip may surprise many but nail polish isn’t too good for the nails. Many of them are made with chemical products that can make your nails weak and brittle. You can have your nails painted for a few months in the year (hello summer) but leave them unpainted for the autumn/winter months.

DIY pedicure

You can always give your feet nice pedicure form the comfort of your home. I like to do that every now and again, since I work from home and I am usually at home. There’s nothing like soaking my tired feet in warm soapy water while I relax with a book. I like to add some bath salts in the water and it works even better. I usually finish up my DIY pedicure with a pumice stone to rub off dead skin, clip toenails straight across and not down the sides to avoid infection, cuticle cream and exfoliating cream.

Great places to visit in London

*Collaborative post.

We explored the city of London earlier this year and the kiddies loved it. London is a regular holiday destination for us as we lived there before and we have lots of family and friends around the city. The city is full of life and I love exploring all that it brings. It is too much of a busy city for me to live in but holidaying there works great as there are lots to see and do. Plus getting there is easy for us as we love a good old train ride every now and again. There is a quick train to Gatwick airport to London Victoria, so we can easily get  to the city of fun.

If you are thinking of exploring London, here are some great places to visit in London –

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is one place to visit when you are exploring London City. We visited Buckingham Palace this April and we loved it. It was fun to see the palace up close and the guards were fun to watch as well. The kiddies love it but were disappointed they didn’t get to see the Queen 😊

Get on a London Bus

Getting on a London Tour Bus is great for those visiting the city for the first time. The buses take you round the popular spots in the city and tell you all about the history behind every tourist attraction. It is a nice way to see the city but if you can’t get on any of the tour buses, you can easily see some parts of the city by popping on a regular London bus. That is what we did after exploring Buckingham Palace. We got a London Bus from the city centre and that took us to a different side of London.

The twins loved it as they were reading about London school and were thrilled to get on a London Red Bus. The best part for them was sitting on the top deck. That was the highlight of the day for them. Kids do love the littlest things.

Big Ben

Big Ben was a must for us too as the kiddies have read about it and wanted to see it in real life. Our tour of the city was more of an educational tour. It was based on all what they have read about London at school and it was fun for us the grownups to see the city through their eyes. The view was perfect. Big Ben is definitely a spot to explore if you plan on being around the area.

London Eye

I loved our time in the London Eye. It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait to get on it again. London Eye is definitely a must if you want to really be a tourist in London. It is worth visiting for sure.

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is another great spot in London to visit. The wax museum is filled up with popular faces and the kids (especially my daughter) love taking photos with them.

What do you think of these great places to visit in London? Have you been to any of them before?

Style Icon – Cindy Bruna

The beautiful and stylish Cindy Bruna is the Style Icon for the month on Fashion and Style Police. I came across the young lady some years ago and I was so blown away by her fashion sense and how much she has achieved in the modelling world at such a young age. Cindy Bruna is originally from the South of France but relocated to Paris some years to pursue a career in modelling. You can easily catch her on the runaway modelling for Victoria’s Secret (one of my favourite lingerie brands). She has also appeared in campaigns for Prada, Burberry, Chanel, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren. This young woman is the real deal.

I love how stylish Cindy Bruna is off the runaway. She knows what suits her body shape and her hair and makeup is always on point too! I am here for it!

Style Icon – Cindy Bruna

Bruna’s modelling future looks very bright. She has an amazing body, which ticks all the modelling boxes. Her legs are unbelievable. I like spotting new fresh faces on runaways and campaigns. It is always good to add some freshness to the fashion industry in general. I bet Cindy Bruna will be doing her modelling thing for many years to come. She has what it takes to take her modelling career to dizzy heights and she always looks good whenever she is photographed. I love her sense of fashion a lot. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry today.
