Practical ideas for renovating your bedroom

*Collaborative post.

Does your bedroom need a complete overhaul?  If you’re going to sleep staring at dated décor, worn-out carpets, and stark lighting, then the answer is yes.  So, where do you start and how do you make sure you get the finish you’re after?

Here are some practical ideas to help you renovate your bedroom.

Installing a new floor

The bedroom floor is a good place to start your overhaul.  Changing the flooring in the bedroom will give it an instant lift.  And done well, it can add some serious wow factor.

Now, if you’re not a DIY expert, you’re not alone. Despite the rise in people carrying out DIY in their homes, many of us are still more comfortable getting tradespeople in to do the work.  And if you’re looking for a flawless floor, then it may pay to search the internet for ‘floor fitters near me’.  Hiring a local firm to do the work is recommended but making sure they specialise in flooring installation is important too.

The type of flooring you choose will depend on the look you’re trying to achieve.  But if you’re looking for something that will stand the test of time, it will need to be hard-wearing and neutral.  Going for the latest patterns or colours may date quickly.  Try wooden floors or a plain neutral coloured carpet for durable appeal.

Decorating the walls

Walls are the second most dominant feature in the bedroom and another area where you may be happier hiring help.  Pick a local decorator with a good reputation to make sure you get a neat and high-end finish.

Choosing a paint colour or wallpaper is going to be your main concern, and with so much choice on the market, it can be daunting.  An eggshell paint is a good choice for bedroom walls as it has a subtle sheen that looks smooth rather than glossy.  If you’re looking at wallpapers, think about soft pastels and florals for a feminine feel without being too girly, or go for bold geometrics if you’re looking for a modern, contemporary style.

Changing the lighting

Lighting can have a big effect on how a bedroom feels, from creating a soft cozy glow to a chic and bright atmosphere.  Moving away from one main bedroom light to well-placed accent lighting can also change the dynamic of the room.

Think about how different lightbulbs and light shades change the colour of the light in the room.  Where you place your lighting will determine how light bounces off the walls.  Bulbs with a soft orangey glow and heavy lampshades will provide a warm cozy feel, whereas bright white bulbs and light, neutral lampshades will create a fresh airy feel.

Designs for Blog Logos

*Collaborative post.

When it comes to setting up a blog, one of the first things you need is a good blog logo. Your blog logo is one of the first things your blog readers will notice when they stumble on your blog. This is why it is very important to pay attention to your blog logo design. It can be tempting to just go with whatever logo design you find, but this is not what you want to be doing. You want a logo that will look good and tell your blog readers more about your blog. When I first started blogging, my blog logo did not look like this below. It took a few logos over the years to finally get this right and I love it.

A good logo sets your blog apart

Like many other things, first impression matters and you want to position yourself as an authority in your niche. Having a well-designed blog logo will help your blog look more professional, pique the interest of your blog readers, and encourage them to keep visiting your blog. A blog logo will also build your brand recognition and identity.

This is one area you want to leave to the professionals. You can design your blog logo if you are good at digital designing but if you are not you should get professionals to design a great logo for your blog.

Simple Christmas Outfit Ideas To Try This Year

*Collaborative post.

Fashion doesn’t take holidays, and even around the festive season, we want to look our best and impress and family get-togethers.

This year has been one different from any other and we have seldom had reason to get dressed up and have fun. But today we want to change that to show you that you can dress to impress this Christmas and have fun at home.

Here are some ideas for fashionable outfits you can wear this winter to really bring that Christmas spirit to life.

A retro getup

There is nothing better than a bit of nostalgia – and Christmas time is a great opportunity to look back on the past and bring it into our wardrobes. You can look online for some 70s inspired velour jumpsuits to wear with a pair of hoop earrings and heels for your Christmas party. If you aren’t a jumpsuit kind of girl, a 50s style dress with a fit and flare style could be a wonderful way to bring some retro charm to Christmas. However, I always love 1970s Outfit Ideas.

Classic golden goddess

There are not many times in the year when you get to wear metallic colours such as silver and gold without looking overdressed. Luckily for you, Christmas is one of those times where it fits perfectly. Wow your family and friends this Christmas with a stunning gold dress in a bodycon fit and consider bringing a body chain into the mix for extra glam. Getting dressed up for Christmas is fun so make sure that you make the most of things you couldn’t wear at any other time of the year.

Monochrome magic

One of the classic ways to dress at Christmas time is to choose a monochrome outfit and add a bright red touch with shoes or lips. There are some amazing ways to pull off a monochrome look this Christmas and you can choose a colour block dress, a black skirt and white top, or even some skinny white jeans with a black plunge top. Have some fun playing around with the fit and style of your clothing and enjoy the simplicity and timelessness of it.

A glitzy dress

Christmas is a time to play around with glitz and glam – and a sequined dress could be the ideal option to bring some festive cheer to your celebrations. A fun sequin dress can be any colour or a combination of colours and will bring that little bit of Christmas magic to your life this year.

A festive jumper and skirt

If you enjoy going a little more comfortable and practical close to Christmas it is a good idea for you to wear a festive jumper with a simple skater skirt. A festive jumper with all the fixings and garishness is in the true Christmas spirit and a cute little skirt to tick it in will bring a more childlike look to your Christmas Day. Plus, once you have eaten a huge roast dinner you can hide your bloat in the jumper and no one will know!
