My Acne Story

I have written extensively about acne and various ways to deal with it. So for my True Stories post this month, I decided to write about how my journey with acne started. I started the True Stories series last month with my personal injury story, and it was well received, so expect to read monthly personal true stories.

I have always had a ‘troublesome’ skin. Once I hit puberty, my skin was all over the place with pimples and spots. I remember it being extremely had to tackle. I tried treating my pimples and spots with everything and anything. I even tried applying toothpaste on them overnight, which seem to work but left me with spots to remember. This skin issue went on for all my teenage years and even after. But it went on a whole new level when I went camping in 2007, and had to sleep rough for a few days. I had a massive acne outbreak all over my face, neck and back. It was a horrible sight.

I am not 100% sure of what led to it but I suspect it was the fact that we had horrible living conditions in the camp. I had to sleep rough – on the bare floor the first night. And when I eventually got a bed space, it was more of a hell hole with too many of us. So I guess all that and more made my skin go gaga.

It took months for my skin to return to my regular acne state. I tried everything and I eventually got rid of most of them but I have the acne scars left on my face (God bless the makers of makeup), and loads on my back.

Now for those who don’t know, Acne or Acne Vulgaris is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. So Acne is characterised by whiteheads or blackheads, pimples, spots, greasy skin and in some cases – scarring.

I had blackheads, spots, pimples and a bit of scarring. Some parts of my face were usually greasy too. But I am happy to say I no longer have to deal with acne. It is now a distant memory except for the scars left. However I know many people have to deal with their acne and scars everyday and I know how frustrating it can be.

The good news is there is now a treatment for acne scars in form of the Laser Acne Scar Removal Treatment. This laser treatment tackles the appearance of acne scars on every area of the body. The treatment is fast, easy and it improves the overall texture and condition of the skin.

The video above explains the treatment process at Pulse Light Clinic London in detail. It is definitely worth watching.

This Thing Called Acne

Hot Pink Image

This thing called acne, do you struggle with it? I have always struggled with acne for as long as I can remember. And I know many women and men that have had to struggle and still struggle with acne. So I know it is a common issue. You would think a woman like me about to hit her thirties won’t have to still deal with this things but I do. My acne flares up and down depending on my state of mind, the time of the month, my diet and how many hours of sleep I get. And sometimes I am relaxed, well-rested, and not that time of the month but it still flares up, so I really don’t know.

Many of us have to deal with acne and the scars some of them may leave behind, which is the part I detest the most. When it comes to acne and the scars, I try to take care of myself as much as I can and let makeup do the rest. A well applied makeup does a good job of hiding most of the acne, and good filters gets rid of the rest so your pictures look good, that is if you are that worried about them.

I had a friend once tell me to make use of some photo editing software to get rid of some of my pimples/acne before uploading the photos on the blog. I found the comment more naive than annoying so I let it slide but it made me reflect on how we women worry so much about our looks and the looks of others.

Well it is good to know that our acne scars can be wiped away thanks to the Laser Acne Scar Removal. This treatment can get rid of acne scars on any part of the body in a matter of 3/5 sessions. Anyone can have it down. It is suitable for all skin types. There is no downtime required, and only minimal discomfort has been reported.

I think this Laser Acne Scar Removal treatment is a fantastic treatment. It is definitely worth doing. Apart from getting rid of acne scars, this treatment improves the condition of the skin and the overall texture, which is a win-win for me.
