Outfit Post – Fashion Bloggers Please Dress Warm

It is my birthday in a few days and I am looking forward to celebrating the new year in my own way. Being a January baby means I get to start the new year with a birthday and align my goals to suit my new stage in life. I am still in the process of styling my birthday outfit in my head (it has to be perfect since I am a fashion blogger right?), not really decided what I would wear or what I would do on the day. But I am sure ideas would crop up closer to the date, so look out for a birthday outfit post soon.

I wore this outfit some weeks ago. The Silver Grey Long Oversized Coat With Faux Fur Hood is a new wardrobe addition. I am so in love with it. It is the right length and it feels so warm and comfy. The faux fur trim hood is an added touch of beauty and the puffy fit is great for layering this winter.

Dressing warm is so important in the winter and we fashion bloggers need to promote that a lot more. I remember when I initially started blogging, I came across a few fashion blogs that would show off outfit posts wearing summery pieces in the middle of winter, and I thought it was so unrealistic and misleading. 9 times out of 10, these bloggers would pose outside for a few minutes to get the photos taken and get back inside to wear something more sensible. Like who walks around in a mini skirt and crop top in the winter months?

I don’t play with the cold weather. I dress warm and make sure the kids are dressed warm too. So I find it crazy to see many fashion bloggers still doing this. Fashion should be stylish and comfy. You should not have to choose one over the other, when you can have both. So my fellow fashion bloggers, please think twice before you step outside to be photographed in yet another revealing outfit in the middle of winter. It looks very silly and dangerous. Health is wealth, remember that.

Stay Safe this Holiday Season

Happy holidays folks! How are we? Hope you all had an amazing Christmas? Mine was terrific. I had a swell time and received loads of presents. I have also missed blogging and writing. I have been off work since the 23rd and it has been a much-needed break. My holiday is still on. I am not back to business as usual until the new year. But I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

We have been on the road quite a bit. Travelling here and there, and it has been incredibly busy over here. This holiday season has been super calm and it has given a lot of time to reflect. It is so easy to get carried away with the festive period and celebration here and there. But we need to always remember to safe and look out for each other.

This New Year season is a time to have good fun with your loved ones and stay safe whilst doing so. The staying safe part is so very important as a lot of us get carried away with the booze and even drugs. Being reckless is quite common during the holiday season. So it is important we remind ourselves of the things that do matter and where to get help if and when needed.

Here are 3 ways we can ensure we stay safe in the holiday season –

Eat before heading to the bar

Drinking on an empty stomach is very dangerous. It is the surest way to feel horrible and wake up feeling even worse. Do yours health a favour and have a good meal before having drinks.

Don’t have too many drinks

Drinking to stupor is never a good idea. So go easy on the drinks. Alcohol gets you dehydrated so water it down by having a couple of glasses of water in between your drinks. And avoid drinking too much and keep a good eye on your drinks. There are many resources available for anyone battling with alcohol or drug addiction so you shouldn’t feel isolated or suffer in silence. One of such resources is The Recovery Village, which offers a personalised addiction treatment so it is worth having a look on their website.

Remember to dress warm

It is freezing at the moment so remember to dress as warm as you can. Don’t leave the house with a warm coat and some weather appropriate sensible footwear. Especially if you plan to be out and about on the streets. It sounds like common sense but it amazes me how many people walk around in the middle of the winter night wearing very little clothing.

All these tips sound like common sense but I see many people everyday breaking these basic rules, especially in the holiday season. So please remember to safe stay as you enjoy the last 2 days of 2017.

How are you staying safe this holiday season? Do you have any sensible tips to share? Please sound off in the comments section below.

Happy holidays!
