I published 33 posts, with a good number of them being fashion themed. I had also had the opportunity to feature 4 different outfits for your viewing pleasure. Here are the outfits featured in January 2018.

Cheers to the new year

This was my first outfit post of the year. It was quite popular, with loads of views and engagement. The highlight of this look is the sparkly Quiz Clothing dress. I wore it to dinner and received quite a couple of compliments. It is a great fitted dress and looks so beautiful. It is one dress I know I will wear over and over again.

Another highlight for me is the purple Michael Kors bag. It is a new addition to my bag collection, and it is currently one of my favourites. I just love it.

Staying warm this winter

This was my second look in January. The highlight here is the stunning Apricot Clothing Cardigan. It is an amazing piece, that can take you from day to night effortlessly. It can also be styled up or down, which is great. The stunning blue slip-on sneakers by Russell and Bromley is another highlight. I adore the cute bow design.

This outfit was all about the beautiful blue jacket from LOTD. I have been wearing this jacket almost everyday now, and I really like it. It is super warm and the added belt makes it look so chic. Loving it!

Fashion – What I Wore on my Birthday

Hey fashion lovers! I finally got around to publishing my birthday outfit post. Whoop Whoop! For those who do not know, it was my birthday a few days ago. I turned 31 and I posed for some outfit photos. As a fashion blogger, I was planning to go all out on my birthday, and rock a super glam outfit, but then life happened and I couldn’t.

Like I mentioned in previous posts, I was not feeling well for the whole of last week. I was battling a terrible cold and was too drained to be in the party mood. So I didn’t really make any birthday plans. Which means no birthday outfit was decided until the last minute. I decided to style up some of my birthday gifts, and I am happy I did just that. It made my day even more special.

Everything I had on except the sleeveless blazer and bag, was a birthday present. I receive a couple gifts from my loved ones a few days to my birthday, so I decided to style them together for my big day. The look worked so well. I felt super comfy and warm, which was good as it was a very cold day.

I remember growing up as kid, birthdays was a big deal for me, and it still is. The whole idea of having my own special day, and being bombarded with birthday wishes and presents always puts a smile on my face. And I am certain it is the same for many. Birthdays are still a big deal for me, even as an adult. I appreciate every new year (even though I am growing older 😃) and what each year brings to me.

Are You a Slave to Fashion? Here are 6 Ways to Stop Being One This Year.

Everyone has a different view when it comes to style. Although I love all things fashion, I do not allow the never ending trends get to me. I am not a slave to fashion, technology or anything. To me, that’s the unhealthiest place to be. Being fashionable ought to be fun and creative. If you have been a slave to fashion and you want to make a switch in 2018, here are 6 ways you can do that.

Realize that fashion trends don’t last

You know how it’s like when the latest outfit gets released and it becomes really popular, but then after a few days or weeks the hype fizzles out? That’s how it is in the fashion industry.

Today one outfit is fashionable and everybody wants to wear it and the next day it gets outdated. Going after the latest fashion trends is like chasing the wind. You can never catch it. It is OK to go after trends you have an interest in but don’t get carried away with the endless stream.

Choose only what feels comfortable

What’s fashionable is not always comfortable. Sometimes they are too tight or too revealing or too inconsistent with your personal style. Extremely fashion conscious people, most often than not, throw away comfort and focus on being trendy.

But when you think about what a terrible experience it is to dress uncomfortably for hours,  then you will know how unwise it is to compromise your comfort for being in style.

Define your own style

You are a unique being. Fashion is a medium of expression. You can define your own style that perfectly expresses your unique personality. There’s nothing like being able to choose what works best for you.

Fashion trends were created by people who followed what they believed and reflected it their own personal style. People loved it and adopted it as their own. Why not start your own trend instead of following someone else’s?

Embrace your individuality

Another way to get over being a slave to fashion is by embracing your individuality. We look up to magazines, what’s on social media and what we see on television. But the truth is that as an individual you have your own perceptions of what is fashionable.

You can be your own source of fashion ideas and inspiration. Yes, what you see in magazines, social media and television can give you inspiration but they should be used only as a means to awaken ideas that will help create your own kind of fashion trends.

Don’t be afraid to be creative

This is something that I love the most about fashion. It gives you the avenue to be creative. The combinations of outfits and layers you can come up with are endless. And most of all, mixing and matching clothes is fun. It’s something that I enjoy doing and I’m sure many do too.

Are you a slave to fashion?
