White Trainers

A pair of nice white trainers are great because you can wear them with so many different outfits. They work well when paired with simple jeans and t-shirt combo but they’re equally as good with a nice summer dress. If you’re looking for summer shoes, they’re ideal because they’re casual and they’re nice and comfortable when you’re out and about all day. When you have a good quality pair of white trainers in your closet, you’ll always have a reliable pair of shoes that you can wear every day.

Ankle Boots

Trainers are great for everyday casual wear, but you can’t really wear them with a formal outfit. If you want something that is stylish and formal but also works well with casual outfits, a pair of womens ankle boots are perfect. They are classy enough to wear with a smart dress on a special occasion but they also look great with a pair of jeans or a nice skirt. They’re perfect for the winter when the weather is wet but they’re also lightweight enough to keep you comfortable in the summer.

Black Loafers

Finding the right shoes for work can be tough because you need something that is smart and stylish but also comfortable, especially if you are on your feet all day. If you are fed up with trying to find the right shoes every morning, you should invest in a good pair of black loafers. They’re the ideal shoe for work and they can be worn around the house as well.

Ballerina Flats

When you are going for a night out, you don’t always want to wear heels all night long. They might look great but they’re very uncomfortable, so why not go for some ballerina flats instead. They’re a classic shoe that never goes out of style and they make a great alternative to heels on a night out. However, they also work well with pretty much any other outfit. A decent pair of flats is the most versatile shoe there is and you will get a lot of wear out of them. There are plenty of cheap pairs out there but if you are going to be getting a lot of mileage, you should invest in a good quality pair that will last you a long time.

If you invest in these different shoes, you will never be stuck for something to wear ever again.

How to Care for your Shoes

I’m one of those people who believe you can’t have enough of shoes. There should be shoes for every event and colours to match with your outfits. As much as I love shoes I do admit that there have been times when I neglected taking care of my collection of shoes. As the year is coming to an end, I decided to make a resolution to take care of my shoes. So how to care for your shoes? More on that below.

Aside from ensuring the longevity of your shoes, taking care of your shoes helps in preserving their look, feel and smell. You wouldn’t like to be caught with your shoes smelling in the hallway, would you?

If you’re just like me and feel like you need to also start showing more love to your shoes, here are some tips I have found pretty useful so far.

Alternate your shoes

Now this hack may seem a little too obvious but I know that there were times when I fell in love with a comfy pair of shoes that I ended up wearing several times in a row.

It turns out that wearing the same pair of shoes over and over without giving breaks in between will wear out your shoes fast. Giving your shoes a break gives them the opportunity to dry. Keeping your feet in your shoes for a long time makes your shoes get moist due to sweat. So alternate away. Another reason to shop for my shoes, like you need any!

Get your shoes polished or sprayed

Not every pair of shoes can be treated the same way. The material the shoes are made of goes a long way in determining the kind of care you should show your shoes. For example, leather shoes need regular polishing. Aside from getting your shoes looking shiny, polish helps to prevent your leather shoes from drying out. This helps to elongate the lifespan of your leather shoes.

However when it comes to suede shoes, you need to give it a different kind of care. Every time you want to use your suede shoes make sure you give them a good brushing. You can also apply suede spray to help maintain the suede material and colour.

Add a layer of rubber to the soles

Do you remember those old pair of shoes you have? When you look under those shoes you’ll see that the sole of your shoes began wearing away. Some people use such shoes so much that the whole sole gets worn out to the end. This happens a lot to shoes with leather soles.

To help keep the soles, get a cobbler to add a rubber sole to your shoes so that as you use them the original sole won’t wear away.

Clean and spray the insides of your shoes

Sweat in your shoes gives out a foul odour so each time you take your shoes off make sure you spray the inside of your shoes with a shoe spray to get rid of the bad smell and also disinfect your shoes from bacteria.

Don’t just limit your shoe cleaning routine to the outside of your shoes. Clean the insides as well. Remove dust and dirt that may have found its way into your shoes.

Use socks or shoe liners

Constant friction created by wearing your shoes regularly can wear away the cloth in the inside of your shoes and cause a little hole. To preserve your shoes, wear a pair of socks or shoe liners. An added bonus to wearing socks or shoe liners is that it helps to keep the odour out as well.

5 Fashion Hacks for Shoes

I love fashion and I love styling my pieces. I organised my wardrobe yesterday, and it was so much fun checking out pieces for my next outfit photos, and implementing my capsule wardrobe tips. I truly enjoy writing about fashion, and dressing up, and I feel many do enjoy it too but from a distance. Many people believe clothes do not look good on them as they would like, or are not aware of a few fashion tricks and tips, so this post is all about some fashion hacks for shoes, you may or may not have heard of.

Gel Inserts

Heels give your outfit the ‘WOW’ effect but can also be uncomfortable so add gel inserts into your shoes for extra comfort. You can also carry them around in your handbag for when your legs get tired or your feet gets sore. You don’t have to suffer to look stylish. Just make sure your shoes have a bit of room for the gel inserts. Moreover, wearing high heels very often can sometimes cause foot abnormalities. In these cases, it is recommended to wear Morton’s neuroma inserts to help relieve the stress on the nerves.

Go Platforms

In my ‘How to walk in heels‘ post, I mentioned how easy it is to walk in platforms unlike stilettos. Platforms are dead comfy and stylish, so they are the best heels to rock. High-rise platforms add the needed height and the ‘WOW’ to the look, without stress and discomfort. Remember, the thicker the heel, the more comfortable the shoes will be. St

Try the Wriggle Test

When buying closed toe shoes/pumps, make sure you have adequate breathing space for your toes. Make sure you can wriggle your toes freely. If you can’t do this, do not buy.

Avoid Buying Shoes Online

I love online shopping as you should all know by now, but I always try to buy my shoes in stores, so I can walk around in them and be assured I am comfortable walking in them before buying. Apart from the wriggle test above, I always go shoe shopping at the end of my shopping trip, when my feet is hot and swollen from all the walking around. This is so that I have a good idea of how they would fit if I wear them all day.

Shoe Shapers

Ensure you keep your shoes in shoe trees when not in use. This will extend the life of your shoes, and maintain the shape.

These are my 5 Fashion Hacks for Shoes. I hope you find them useful.
