Vanessa Williams has always been a beauty muse to me, right from when I was growing up. I think she has amazing features, and I have always admired her. She is also ageing beautifully before our very eyes, I still can’t get over the fact that she is in her fifties. I hope I look as good as she does when I am her age. This beauty muse is beauty goals in my eyes. I adore everything about her.

I remember her controversial beauty queen period (first black Miss America in 1983), and I loved how she stood tall from the drama, and went on to build a good career for herself. She is a strong beautiful woman.

I have always wanted to know more her skincare routine and beauty tips, so I was glad to find she shared some of them.

Her skincare routine

I start my day with a glass of lemon water and an application of a skin repair serum, which helps restart the skin to its youthful radiance. My Re-Start Skin Repair Serum is a multi-purpose formulation that helps treat and protect skin against aging, stress, and harmful environmental elements. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and even and has exceptional ingredients to which I was introduced by specialists around the world.

I love the sound of her skincare routine.

Caring for the body for beauty

Staying hydrated is number one, especially for our skin. I am also a strong believer in exercise. I am obsessed with my Body Theory Drenched class and Zumba.

I am also a strong believer in exercise and hydration. I think they do wonders for her health, skin and state of mind.

Beauty Muse – Meghan Markle

Prince Harry’s love interest, the beautiful American actress – Meghan Markle, famous for her role as Rachel Zane in the USA legal drama Suits, is my Beauty Muse. Let me tell you why.

I recently started watching Suits on Netflix, and I am blown away by this 35-year-old beauty and her amazing acting skills. I think she is drop dead gorgeous. I did a bit of research on her and found out she the famous woman I have heard so much about this year. I knew Prince Harry was dating an American lady, but never knew her name or what she looked like until today. I think she is a stunner! A fine Princess in the making.

Here are some of Markle’s beauty secrets; you may want to take notes –

The Importance of Facials

‘When I was 13 years old, my mom had me start getting facials in my hometown of Los Angeles,’ Meghan wrote on The Tig. ‘It seemed so silly at the time, trekking in my school uniform to see a woman named Anika who slathered my skin with Yon-Ka products and chatted away about the importance of eye cream.

‘My mom would give Anika a check (and usually some fruit she picked up for her at the farmers market, because she’s thoughtful that way) and we would drive home with my mom, ever the little bird in my ear, saying, “You must always take care of your skin.”‘

Kudos to her mother for setting her on the right path to a great skincare routine. It is never too late or early to start paying attention to your skin.

Skipping Makeup

When Meghan isn’t filming, you’ll rarely find her in a full face of make-up. ‘I wear so much make-up for work that when I have a day off, I don’t like to wear it at all,’ she told Express.co.uk. ‘I’ll put on moisturizer, a little bit of highlighter on my cheekbones and that’s it.’

I am happy I am not alone in thinking makeup should not be worn everyday. It ruins the skin.

The Shocking Beauty Benefits of Caffeine

coffee-image

Most of us rely heavily on caffeine to stay awake and keep going through the day.  But very few know that the coffee you drink actually contains a lot of beauty benefits! Ironically, it is advised not to drink so much caffeinated beverages because of the adverse effects it can have on your health. Since it’s great for the outer parts of your body, you have another reason to keep coffee stocked up in your kitchen (and as part of your beauty kit). If you are wondering where to start with stocking up amazing coffee, Iron and Fire is a great brand to start with their award winning coffee beans.

Here’s a rundown of the beauty benefits of caffeine –

Reduces puffiness

You know those puffy under eyes that are such a pain to conceal with makeup? Applying leftover ground from your coffee under your eyes and on your eyelids for about 20 minutes is all you need to do the trick (make sure you rinse off with cool water when the 20 minutes are up).
The powerful antioxidants found in caffeine help to reduce the inflammation. When you apply coffee under your eyes, the coffee penetrates deep into the skin and down to the cells to slow down cell damage. That is what helps to reduce the puffiness.

Effective for exfoliation

Exfoliation is an important part of your beauty routine. If you’re thinking of going all natural, then coffee grounds make an effective scrub. Apply the coffee grounds on your face and gently rub to remove the dead skin cells. This will make your skin feel soft and smooth. Apart from giving a nice smooth finish, it will help boost the collagen production in your skin. This is because coffee contains Caffeic acid which is the collagen producing property in coffee.

Promotes hair growth

You all know how much attention I pay to my hair since I went natural, well I have researched and one of the main causes of hair loss is the inflammation of the hair follicles. Thanks to the rich dose of antioxidants found in coffee, it helps reduce inflammation and restore hair growth. Even if you’re not suffering from hair loss, applying coffee on your hair will help prevent any occurrence of premature hair loss.

Enhances the color of your hair

Want to tint your hair without using harsh chemicals? Coffee will do the trick. Prepare some strong brewed coffee or mix 1-2 teaspoons of coffee grounds to your conditioner and apply it to your hair. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then wash it off. You will see the colour of your hair deepen and you will notice your hair has a nice luxurious scent of coffee too.

Reduces the presence of cellulite

Who would have thought coffee grounds could reduce the presence of cellulite, right? Well it does. Apply the coffee grounds on wherever you have cellulite and massage it in for a while and then wash it off. Do this regularly and you will start to notice the presence of cellulite will be minimized.
This is because caffeine helps in dehydrating the fat cells and increases the blood circulation which will tighten, brighten and make your skin smooth. So brilliant!

Protects you from the damaging effects of the sun

When you apply coffee topically your skin gets protected from UV (ultra violate) damage which reduces the risk of skin cancer. The antioxidants found in caffeine help to repair sun damage on your skin. This is done by blocking the protein called ataxia telangiectasia (ATR).

Are you as shocked as I am with these beauty benefits of Caffeine? I bet the caffeine junkies (me me me) will be excited. I know I am.
