What do you do with the wedding dress after the wedding

The wedding dress is always the centre of attention. From the day of the planning to the day of the ceremony, it is the one piece that is one most fussed about. Every little detail of the wedding dress has to be perfect. But when the wedding is all done and dusted, what then happens to the wedding dress? Sadly, that glamorous wedding dress gets locked up in the closet. The good news is that there are so many things you can do with your wedding dress.

Here are a few ideas.

Keep the wedding dress

I thought I’d start with most obvious. Keeping the wedding dress is what most women do once the wedding is over. They do this with the hope that they can pass on the dress to their female children and turn it into a lasting tradition.

Although this is a nice way to keep memorable event alive, your daughters or future daughter in-laws may not want to wear your old wedding dress. Almost every bride wants their dress to be marvelous and most especially reflect what is trendy during the time.

Sell it

Yes, this may be a little difficult for some women to do, since they put in a lot of time and effort picking their wedding dress. So there is some sentimental value attached to it. Wedding dresses can be a little expensive depending on the brand and design. So if you sell it, you are most likely to recover about 50 percent of what you invested originally.

For the record, I sold my dress weeks after my wedding. I had a few people interested in buying it, and I just went for the highest bidder.

Re-design it

You’d be surprised at how much could be done with a wedding gown. With a very good tailor, it can be re-designed into a beautiful outfit that you can wear to other events.

The flowing material can be used to make a lovely dress that you can use for formal occasions and still keep the memories of your wedding alive. You can also turn it into cute little dresses for your children.

Rent it

Who would have thought that you can turn your old wedding gown into a profitable stream of income? There are many ladies who would have liked the exact wedding dress but do not have the money to buy it. You can simply start renting out your wedding dress to brides who are looking to rent the ideal dress for their special day.

Donate it

There are so many ladies out there who are unable to afford the dress of their dreams for their wedding. You can do a great service by donating your old wedding gown to them.

Organizing your Wardrobe this Autumn

Autumn is here pretty much here. So that means it is time to get the warm clothing out in time for the chilly season. Organizing your wardrobe this autumn is a must for me. It is the only way I think straight, as far as style is concerned.

Here are a few tips you may find useful if you are planning on preparing your wardrobe for new chilly season.

Have a Clear Out

I like to have a good wardrobe clear out after every season. The clear out session is always very ruthless. I lay all I have on my bed and take decide on what stays and what goes. This allows me to take a good look at my wardrobe, so I have a good idea of what clothing and accessories I do have. It also allows me to see the pieces I don’t like or that no longer fit. Having a clear out allows me get rid of the items that need to go, which will in turn creates room for items I do need.

Apart from how much the clear out helps my personal style, I also find them very therapeutic. Living a clutter-free life is so good for the state of mind.

Storage

Once the clear out is done, old season’s clothing and accessories go into storage in our mini attic. It is currently impossible to have all my clothing in my wardrobe, so storage makes my life a lot easier.

Fill up the Gaps

Once the clear out is done, and the excess is kept in storage, there are usually gaps in my wardrobe that need filling. So I usually get a few pieces and accessories here and there. I always ensure I shop smart in order for my clothes to work hard for me.

Arrange the Clothes in Order

I like to arrange my clothes in order. So for autumn/winter, I would have jumpers and sweaters in a section, cardigans and shawls in another section, and it goes like that. Having my clothes in order allows me to see what I have and decide on what I want to wear quickly. Having a disorganised wardrobe gives me a migraine.

OOTD: Spring Fashion

Hey we have another outfit post at last! Thank goodness! My posting schedule has been all over the place these last few days, thanks to my laptop going crazy, struggling to keep up with me, and other life stuff. I am hoping to get back on track next week so please hang in there with me.

I took these pictures some days ago while holidaying in Essex. The weather was beautiful, and I had fun rocking some of my spring pieces.

I am really loving the spring weather at the moment. The weather is cool, the sun is usually out and there has been little or no rain. Spring fashion is also looking up, I am loving the new pieces in the stores. There are so many amazing designs, I wish I could have them all! I am also looking forward to summer fashion. Time to show off a bit more skin eh? How are you finding the spring weather?

Everything I have on is an oldie but a goldie. I found the outfit easy to style, the pieces fell into places easily, I didn’t have to over think any part of it. That is the beauty of a capsule wardrobe. I know I have written a few times about having a capsule wardrobe, and the benefits, but it is so underrated in the fashion industry, I think a lot more needs to be said about how beneficial a capsule wardrobe really is. The fashion industry seems to be focused more on buying more, rather than buying what you need to create your signature style capsule wardrobe.

What do you think of this spring look? Are you a fan of a capsule wardrobe? Please sound off in the comments section below, let’s talk.
