Its July, summer is here and that means one thing – Holidays. With the holiday season in full swing, many are jetting off to beaches and other luxurious places to relax and unwind, and with some many women walking around looking fit in their bikinis and bodysuits, the pressure is on for every woman to have the Perfect Beach Body this summer. Many are coughing out as much as £300 in preparation for the summer holidays. Can you imagine that?

An online voucher code website – My Voucher Codes recently carried a survey that revealed that 60% of 18 – 24-year-old women felt under pressure to achieve the #PerfectBeachBody. The survey was answered by over a 1000 women aged over 18, and the results were as follows:

  1. The most popular beauty preparation women have for their summer holidays is waxing including eyebrows, legs and bikini area (59%), and manicure and pedicure (54%).
  2. A tummy tuck was the most popular choice for women looking to get their body in shape for summer.
  3. Joining a gym, a diet club and a fitness class were the most popular ways to get fit and healthy for the summer.

Mark Pearson, the founder of My Voucher Codes said:

“It’s amazing how much beauty treatments can cost for holiday prep, add this to the cost of a holiday and people can end up spending a fortune before that go. And that is not taking into account, gym membership, and fad diets or class’s people take to get their beach body. What is shocking though is the surgery women would consider having to get a beach body. There is so much pressure on women to have the perfect body, I can understand why some women resort to such extremes to get it.”

Personally, I don’t quite understand this whole perfect beach body craze. I can’t imagine coughing out anything close to £300 to achieve a perfect beach body, I rather spend that money on some cool accessories and pieces. However, I am more conscious of my legs during summer because I like showing off some skin, so I wax my legs more regularly in the summer months. Walking about in a mini skirt with hairy legs won’t be a pleasant sight, but that is all I do differently in the summer. Then again, I am not your average young woman. I hardly get pressured into doing anything. I make my own rules.

Do you feel pressured to have the perfect beach body during summer? Drop me comment, let’s chat. Thanks for reading.

  1. I agree with you. I think it’s really sad that people are made to feel that such a thing as “beach body” exists!I love seeing women and men who are confident enough to wear whatever they want, wherever they want regardless of their shape! Physical and mental health should be what matters, whatever that means for you. We should be empowering each other to believe we are all beautiful, not belittling anyone for wearing a bikini if they’re not a size 0! X

  2. I’m heading on holiday in September but im not too fussed about been beach body ready. I’ve made a couple of small changes in my diet but I would rather do it to feel healthier and fit in myself! xo

  3. I dont feel challenged with a beach body. I love my shape and size and i think everyone should be confident with what they are.. You dont have to be a twiggy to look great in a swim suit or any dress for that matter.I love your blog girl.

  4. I think I have now moved passed the being pressured phase as these days I do what I want and how I want. I cant do £300 for in shape body even when I have it I would rather take my family and boo out lol

  5. I never even think about having a beach body but I do like to have a few goes on a sunbed if I am going away as I am usually so pale, people always tell me I look healthier when I have a bit of colour to my skin

  6. Getting beach body ready can be super expensive. I’m far from having one but spending that much does seem a lot just if its temporary. I think fitness is something which is a long process and takes a lot more than just quick remedies. Pampering yourself on the other hand again is something you do frequently like a man-pedi, waxing, etc. I wouldn’t go all out just for the summer! We did a post on fitness and getting ready for the summer (with some cool and cheaper alternatives!). Let me know what you think 🙂 http://divaly.net/2015/04/18/lets-get-fit/

  7. Yes, society makes us believe that only this kind of body is pretty and nothing else is, and people just go really far for it. I mean I like looking lean, but I do it in natural ways, I eat healthy, exercise but that’s not for summer, that is for always.
I guess each person has their preference.

  8. I can understand why some people want to improve certain things about their body with surgery, but it does seem to be getting a little crazy these days. 18 year old’s considering lip treatments for the perfect beach body (as the survey results say) is a little bit insane.

As for me, I’d love a beach body but don’t feel any pressure at all. Besides, I live in the UK. We don’t have enough sunshine to warrant spending the money on a beach body 😀 I’m happy when I see people who have worked hard on getting fit though, rather than going under the knife. That motivates me, and I need motivating!
