In 2017 we saw a lot of ground breaking changes in beauty trends. Women are becoming more influenced by what they see on social media and celebrities on magazine covers. This is a sure sign that in 2018 there will be a lot changes in beauty trends as more people are looking up to social media for inspiration.
Just like fashion trends, beauty trends are fast evolving and the sooner you are in touch with the latest trends the more up-to-date you will be. I know we’ll see a lot of surprises and exceptional creativity in 2018. However here are 5 beauty trends you should try in 2018.
- More underliners
Remember when the smoky eye was so popular? Imagine the complete opposite happening in 2018. Instead of the alluring smoky eye, women are going for more underliners. The underliners involve putting colour right below the waterline of your eyes.
It adds a pop of colour. In addition to that, it’s bold and outgoing. Seems pretty much like the theme of the new year, don’t you think?
- Transition from Korean skincare products and regimen to Japanese skincare products and regimen
Korean beauty products and skincare routines were extremely popular in 2017. A lot of women rushed to the Korean beauty line when they saw its wonders on those who tried them. This is because the South Korean beauty industry invested a lot in research and was able to produce effective skincare products that show really positive results.
However, it seems that they are going to face stiff competition from Japan which is coming up with their own skincare and beauty lines. This is good news for me as there is someone in my household visiting Japan very soon.
- The long eyelashes
The eyes are the mirror to the soul. If that is the case then why not make them more inviting? That’s exactly what is happening in 2018. There’s a way long eyelashes make the eyes pop, especially when done really well.
In 2017 I noticed an increase in the number of women getting eyelash extensions. There was also an increase in the number of women looking for serums that will help promote the growth of their eyelashes. So brace yourself! We’re definitely going to see a lot of women batting fluttery eyelashes this year.
- Cat-eye goes geometric
I absolutely love the cat-eye flick and it has been the darling of almost every woman in 2017. It was all over social media and the tutorials on how to make the perfect cat-eye flick were on almost every fashion blog and vlog on the internet.
And now in 2018, we will see the famous flick metamorphose into something more geometric. From the blunt tip to a more square-like brush, we’ll see a lot of creativity surface on our eyelids this year.
- Glossy lips
The luscious lips are always alluring especially when taken care of properly. This year glossy lips are making a huge comeback. Matte was pretty popular one time but now women are going for something with a little more shine.
Aside from choosing the glossy lips, adding a little glitter to their lips is also fast becoming a trend. That makes the lips more alluring, luscious and irresistible. It’s almost like crystal. This is a trend I’m really loving right now.
Which of these beauty trends do you like the most?
Thanks for sharing! I’ve always been a huge fan of underliners as a good way to be sneaky with bright colours for work 🙂 not sure I’m on board with the geometric liner though!
Thanks for reading.
Yeah , the trend of long eyelashes are highly in Vogue these days and is becoming more ubiquitous.
I agree.
I’m so happy glossy lips are back, I still don’t understand the appeal of matte, dry, wrinkly lips lol! Awesome post!
Thanks Alexis. Happy to see them back too.
I like the sound of the Japanese skin care! I will stick to my own make up routine I think. New ideas are fab however they must suit you and be played with before venturing out. Just cos something fashionable doesn’t mean it will suit you
Yes that is true.
I think I’m going to revisit glossy lips, not super glossy lol!
Ah nice.
I must admit I wasn’t even aware of the beauty trends last year! 🙂 What I’d like to know though is when did “contouring” become such a big thing? Or is it? Just shows how absolutely clueless I am :):)
He became a big thing a few years thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian and celebs.
There is no language to say so beautiful pictures. thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tusar.
Welcome.
I would definitely be up for trying more Japanese skincare products, especially if there are cruelty free alternatives as well x
Yea. I am trying some soon. Can’t wait xo
I noticed yesterday that more people seem to have eyelashes to die for. I would love to try eyelash extensions
Go for it Kara.
These sound so lovely especially the progression of the cat flick! I’ve never used it myself but I admire it on others
Yea they are.
I have always been a fan of glossy lips, matt just does not seem to suit me very well x
Ah nice x
I think the proliferation of social media has led to a proliferation of looks, you don’t have to be done one way, or done at all. A good time to be mixing it up.
True that.
I can never get the eye lashes to stick and the cat flick right!!!
I struggle with mine sometimes too.
My mummy isn’t letting go of the Matte lips anytime soon as she’s just found her perfect shade, however might try the red gloss lippy x
Oh nice.
like all of them
Oh good.

Glossy lips and long eyelashes. But I naturally have long eyelashes…so that is any easy one for me.
Hi! I have recently started my own beauty blog. Follow me and take a look at my blog! Very nice your blog!
I will. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips. I’m such a makeup addict so that’s why I’m in the industry. I do like to do shadow on the lower lash line and I do like longer lashes but the natural way 🙂
Glad you like the tips. Thanks for reading.

Lip gloss and mascaras are my must haves
love it! I love colors and it’s not so easy to incorporate them into your daily makeup routines, Hence the underliner trend is God sent! Followed for more posts 🙂
Glad you love the post. Thank you.
Hey
Checkout my blog.
Interesting, thanks 😉
Thanks for reading.
I love the matte lips trend, but I think I may be able to play around a bit more with a glossy lip.
Oh good Jasmine.
I’ve done a version of the geometric liner myself. As someone with hooded lids, it’s a practical way to get some obvious liner work done (I have to make my liner ‘float’ way above my actual creaseline) as well as a chance to fill in the bare space with eyeshadow colour. Looks great if done with precision with a liquid liner, esp from Kat Von D for it’s staying power.
Oh nice. Thanks for stopping by.
Awesome article, check my blog.
I definitely love the look of long eyelashes!
