We want the people who read and watch and interact with our content to know just how much we appreciate them for doing so, but how can you show it? Well, you can give them the chance to become a member of your own little corner of the internet – it’s a great way to take your blog a bit further, especially if you know you’ve got something real to offer anyone who signs up.
So with that in mind, here’s just a few tips on how you can give anyone who consumes your content the chance to sign up with you and reap all the rewards for it. Make sure you put these ideas to good use if a simple mailing list just isn’t cutting it for you anymore.
Who knows how many people crowd around a screen to see what you have to say – why not give them some kind of exclusivity?
Offer Them an Incentive to Sign Up
You want your readers to know they can become members, and you want them to be excited about the prospect. Some of them may have been asking for ways to interact better with you, and to contribute more to your blog and its efforts, and some may not be too bothered either way. No matter what opinions your various readers may have, no one is going to become a member for nothing!
So give them an exclusive. They could get to read posts non-members will never, ever see. Maybe they get promo codes sent straight into the inbox, for various other websites across the net that you’ve collaborated with, or for your own shop that you run. You can also give them the chance to submit guest posts for your approval, which is a great way to bulk out your own blog, and for them to shine up their writing portfolio. These are all great incentives for anyone who’s interested in the online world!
Give Them a Secure Portal
If people are going to be signing up to have a membership with you, and either pay for the privilege or store some of their personal and private details on your website server, make sure you give them a secure portal to go through. It really is the least you could do!
Make sure your website is secure, first of all, by adding in that sneaky ‘s’ on the end of the ‘http’. Then try to add an SSL certificate to your retail section – this provides users with encryption over any details they might input at the checkout Or maybe you could look into the identity verification service used by millions, and apply similar methods or software and tech to your own blog? These could all work really well for your membership plans!
So, are you ready to take your blog to the next level? You might already be running it as a business, and you’re very happy with how far you’ve come, but remember to give back every once in a while.
Thanks! Great tips for my blog!
