Ageing is not something we can fight, but we can control how we age if we have a healthy lifestyle. I could go on and on with healthy lifestyle tips but I am going to keep this post simple and straight to the point. Having a healthy lifestyle will help us age better and we can start making these simple lifestyle changes today.
Here they are –
3 tips for ageing healthy
Stay Active
Staying active is one of the most important ways to age healthy. Regardless of how old you are, you need to ensure you stay active. Being idle is the fastest way to put on weight and it plays on your mental health too, which is not good for your overall health. Being outdoors at least once a day does help. I work from home but the school run takes me out everyday. Plus, I also make sure I get enough steps indoors and outdoors by being busy, running errands, and just staying active.
If mobility is an issue, you can look at getting Mobility Scooter to get you around.
Get enough sleep
Good sleep is very important. We need to ensure we get enough hours of sleep to function properly. Lack of sleep makes me grumpy and very disoriented and I am sure it is the same for many. Which is why sleep is very important. The trick to sleeping well is to ensure your bedding and bedroom is very comfy. So fresh smelling bedding and comfy pillows and mattress helps. Also, making sure the room is the right temperature helps too! I know I struggle to drift off when the room is too hot or too cold.
Most ground floor rooms tend to be cold during the winter season. But that may be your only option if you struggle to get up and down the stairs. Having said that, stairlifts can help a lot when it comes to getting you up and down the stairs, if you are struggling. So it may make sense to invest in that if needed, and get some decent sleep.
Watch diet
You are what you eat and drink, so paying attention to your diet is very important. A healthy diet would help you live longer and it also protects you being ill. Having a balanced diet rich in all the essential nutrients is the way to go. Don’t forget to drink the recommended 8 glasses of water everyday, and don’t survive on tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and alcohol. It sounds bizarre, but I know many people who hardly drink water.
These healthy lifestyle tips sound like a no brainer, but we can easily neglect our health and take them for granted. We need to pay attention to all aspects of our life and make the necessary lifestyle changes so we can age healthy and live a happier life.

My mobility scooter has given me a life back. I am not allowed to drive as I have a neurology disorder. I have one of the bigger ones and it goes all over with me where we live. I love my scooter. It’s done so much for my mental health too as its given me freedom.
Self care, pampering and looking after your skin, clothing hair and so on is also a big part of good wellbeing along what you have said too Stella. Drinking plenty of water also.
Most of all dont regret getting older. It is something denied to many as I know too well with my husband unexpected passing last year. Our DiL dad is in the last stages of cancer at 57. My husband was 60. 4 other dear friends have died in the last 3 years too. They were 64, 61, 48 and 47.
Sombre ending however something we all need to remember
Good you mobility scooter is getting you out and about. That is so important. Thanks for sharing these tips. We need to remember to embrace ageing. It is a privilege.

I think mental health is as important as physical health. You need to stay social, make an effort to meet people and also keep your mind active, particularly language skills with activities like crossword puzzles and other word games.
Very true. Thanks Anne.
Great tips although I have insomnia and so getting enough sleep is never an option!
Oh sorry to hear that.
These are great tips, something simple but really effective
Thanks Miranda.
I try and stay active – it is the diet bit I struggle with. Being 40+ isn’t kind to the middle
The diet bit is a hard part for many.
I think making sure you have enough sleep is vital and so many people miss out on much needed sleep
Yes sleep is needed. Thanks Jenni.
