Taking care of your mental health during a pandemic

Our mental health can be very fragile on a regular day, so I can it imagine it being a lot more fragile during these uncertain times. There are so many things to worry about, it is almost impossible to vibrate high in the midst of the chaos and confusion going on. Taking care of your mental health during a pandemic can be tricky but it is doable.

Taking care of your mental health during a pandemic

Here are some ways you could go about making sure your mental health isn’t suffering.

Have some time to yourself

I think it is super important to have time for just yourself. That’s why I make sure I wake up at least a hour before everyone else gets up. That way I can have some quiet time just for myself. I get some more me-time later in the day. I am one of those people that thrive on alone time, so it is imperative I get everyday to feel ok. If you are like me, then you should stay on top of this and make sure you get time for just yourself even if it is just for an hour. That hour could save your mental health.

Eat and drink healthy

With this pandemic, it is important to have a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet. Eating and drinking healthy could save you from a whole lot of health problems, so make sure you are doing this right.

Get plenty rest

Getting good night sleep and plenty of rest during the day is very important. The last thing your body and mind needs now is stress. I know it is hard to not be stressed with all what is currently happening, but it is best to stay away from stress as much as possible and get plenty of rest to keep your energy levels up.

Have a routine

Having a routine does help especially if you have young kids. I find it easier to do all I do when I have a clear routine. It is flexible but I know what I need to do every few hours and that keeps all of us focused.

Meditate

Meditation may not be for everyone but it has really kept me going. I mediate numerous times a day. My meditation sessions relax me and keep me vibrating high, which helps me stay on top of my mental health.

Exercise

I am very active and the kiddies are active as well, so we are always on the move. We still go for short daily walks and that helps. The fresh air and exercise does wonders. We also watch fitness videos on Youtube and they get us moving at home as well.

Social media and News

You don’t need to listen to News over and over again, especially if they get you anxious and fearful. I don’t listen to the news. I read up the bits I need online and I watch short clips when necessary. I have never been a fan of the Press (which is funny since I have a blog), but I know I have to stay updated with what is going on in the world, so I watch and read what I need.

Talk about it

Tell someone how you feel about the pandemic going on. Talking is therapy and I can guarantee you will start to feel better once you tell someone how you really feel. Talking makes the pandemic not so scary.

Every storm runs out of rain, so I know this too shall pass. Remember to wash your hands, obey the social distancing advice and stay safe. Have a great weekend.

Book of the month – Celestial Prophesy

I have been reading the Celestial Prophesy book series this month and it has really validated many things I knew already. It is a very interesting book. Someone recommended it to me and the book series has kept me very busy in the last few weeks. The books are available on Amazon. I read them on my Amazon Kindle but the paper books are available as well and you can shop them via the links below.

What do you think of these products? Have you read any of the books in the Celestial Prophecy series?

Online Resources for Kids

We have been keeping busy homeschooling this week and it has gone pretty well. I must confess, I was really worried at first. It all looked a little much to study, work and homeschool at the same time. Plus doing anything outdoors is really not possible anymore. All that got me worried, but we got into it all as soon as the week started and it has been amazing. Having a routine similar to what the kids have in school works. Thanks to the hardworking teachers and amazing online resources, we got all the materials we need to smash it!

Here are some of the amazing online resources for kids we are using this week –

Ruth Miskin Training

This YouTube channel is filled up lots of videos to help children learn their phonics. It is really helpful. The twins watch a video on the channel everyday and they are carrying on their learning thanks to the amazing team behind this channel. Ruth Miskin Training also has a Facebook page and the videos are posted on their as well, so it is worth having a look if you children are in KS1. There are new Youtube Videos posted everyday for different levels.

Oliver Jeffers

Oliver Jeffers is reading stories everyday on his website and the kiddies love listening to him read a book. It is a great way to mix up the learning from home. I read to my twins everyday and they read to me as well, but having somewhere read a book is a great way to broaden their horizon. You can have a look at his website to listen to his readings.

Kidz Bop Kids

If your children love dancing, they would Kids Bob Kids! It is a fun Youtube Channel filled up with catchy tunes and lots of moves. My twins enjoy dancing along and sometimes I find myself dancing too! It is a fun way to get the kids moving.

Oxford Owl

Another great website for children is the Oxford Owl. It filled with expert advice, tips and activities to help your child’s reading. There are lots of ebooks available on the website. We have read two books already on Oxford Owl. The Duchess read Ballet and the Duke read Code for Dragon Training. We are reading Everyone Got Wet next and we can’t wait. Oxford Owl is a website worth subscribing to. It will definitely keep the little ones busy.

What do you think of these online resources for kids? How are you finding homeschooling?
