5 Handbag Shapes Every Woman Needs in Her Wardrobe

Handbags are my favourite type of accessory because they are like an extension of my body. They have the power to take a plain outfit to a whole new style level. I love having handbags in different shapes for different occasions. My handbags are usually quite large because I like to put all sorts inside them. There are 5 handbag shapes every woman needs in her wardrobe. These handbag shapes are very common, and I am sure you would have come across them if you don’t already have them in your bag collection.

Clutch

For those who don’t know, clutches were invented in the 1920s and have been a fashion hit ever since. I have a few clutches. They are great for special events. I don’t carry them much because they are impractical for everyday use but they do look pretty for occasions when I do need them.

Tote

Tote bags are usually large and flat with an open top and zippered pockets inside. They are my favourite sort of bags because they come in the right size. I like my bags large.

Baguette

This shape is named after the French loaf of bread because of the similarity in the shapes. Baguette bags have short straps and are worn tucked under the arm. They are super stylish. I have had a DKNY baguette bag for years now and I am still so very in love with it. For those who are not sure of what a Baguette bag looks like, here is an example below.

Minaudière

A Minaudière is a clutch bag without handles or straps. It is the combination of a purse and an evening bag. The name comes from the French ‘minauder’ which means ‘to simper’.

Hobo

Hobo bags are also my favourites. I love them because they are oversized soft leather bags in a curved crescent shape with a shoulder strap. Many of my bags are in Hobo shapes.

Life After Lockdown: Fashion Trends To Embrace Now

*Collaborative post.

Many of us have spent the last few months alternating between pyjamas and joggers. Now, with lockdown measures easing and life slowly beginning to return to something that bears a resemblance to normality, it’s time to look forward to being more adventurous. While it may not be possible to dress up for parties or hit the clubs for a while, most of us are looking forward to getting out and about a little more. With autumn fast approaching, what better time to try out some new looks? Here are some of the hottest seasonal trends to freshen up your wardrobe.

Capes

Capes are brilliant for autumn because we often find ourselves trying to dress for four seasons in one day. With a cape, you can throw it over your shoulders if you get a little chilly and remove it if the sun decides to make an appearance. Capes are chic, and they’re an excellent way to dress up casual or understated outfits if you’re going from work to a restaurant, or you’re looking for something that ticks the smart casual box. To maximise style points, opt for a cape in gold, red, black, or camel. These shades are everywhere this autumn.

Androgenous styling

If you’re a fan of stealing your partner’s hoodies, or you live for smart tailoring, you’re in luck. Androgenous styling is huge this autumn, and there’s a raft of looks to choose from. You can go big and baggy with oversized cardigans, men’s shirts, and loose-fit trousers, or embrace a sharper, more structured look with tailored suits and slim-fit pea coats. If you’re keen to mix and match, or you don’t want to go the whole hog, you can add feminine touches or alter the shape of oversized pieces with printed bags and boots, belts, and delicate jewellery.

Volume

This season, it’s time to turn up the volume and embrace big sleeves and bold hemlines. Balloon sleeves were spotted all over the autumn/winter catwalks, and there has also been an influx of dresses and skirts with puffball shapes, layering, and tiers. If you’re going for standout sleeves on the top, you might prefer to keep it simple on the bottom, but if you’re feeling brave, you can wear voluminous tops and bottoms together. Adding volume to one part of the body is a great way to balance hips, shoulders and waistlines and showcase curves.

Checks

Checks never go out of fashion, and they’re a staple of the autumn wardrobe. This year, patterns such as houndstooth, wintry ginghams, and tartan are popular. The brilliant thing about checks is that you can be as daring as you like. You can put different prints together, you can embrace the trend with a statement piece, for example, a coat or a trouser or skirt suit, or you can add subtle touches through details like bags, shoes, tights, or scarves.

Most Desired Destinations for your Summer Vacation

*Collaborative post.

COVID-19 has changed the way we holiday. Many of us (like myself) were unable to get away this summer. I had good travel plans for 2020 but all those holiday plans went out of the window once Coronavirus showed up. Having said that, many people are still able to go on holiday this summer. If you have plans to get away this summer, you may be able to get a good deal, which is great. There are lots of offers available at the moment. As long as you stay safe and socially distant, holidays are still possible. I can imagine it being a lot easier to manage if you travel without kids. When kids come into the mix, it can get a little tricky having to manage all the new travel rules and regulations.

Most Desired Destinations for your Summer Vacation

When it comes to summer holidays with the ongoing pandemic, places with nature, beaches, and stunning outdoor settings are best. Here are 3 of the most desired destinations for a great summer vacation –

The Dominican Republic

This is one place I would like to visit. I have heard a lot of good things about the Dominican Republic. My brother in law has visited the island twice and he loved holidaying there. Punta Cana is one of the regions in the Dominican Republic I would love to visit. It is one of the most beautiful regions of the island with some amazing landscape. The weather is always nice and sunny, plus Punta Cana hotels always have amazing reviews. I currently have my eye on the 5-star Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino. It looks heavenly.

Barbados

I have always wanted to visit Barbados. It is such a beautiful island with some amazing beaches. I don’t see the island as a tourist destination for kids. It is more for couples, which is probably why I haven’t visited yet. It would be a great summer holiday destination for some time in the future. I can picture myself relaxing on the beach in Barbados and taking in the beautiful scenery. It is a great island to explore with plenty of space to stay socially distant so I am sure it will be even more popular going forward.

Malaga

We visited Barcelona many years ago. It was a lovely holiday. We had a great time. I would love to visit Spain again but this time, I am interested in exploring Malaga. It looks and sounds like a great summer holiday destination.

What do you think of these 3 most desired destinations for a great summer vacation? Have you visited any?
