How working from home has changed our wardrobes

I have been working from home for about 7 years now. So I am kind of used to having a work from home wardrobe for my week days. However, the world was pretty much thrown into working from home last year and so many workers had to adapt to the new way of life. Working from home has definitely changed our wardrobes. When you work from home, you want to look decent for video calls (if any) but comfortable at the same time. Ideally, you should be out of your pyjamas but that may not be the case for everyone. From my experience from working from home, your shopping habits usually changes dramatically. The pieces and accessories you would typically go for if you had to go outside of your home for work would not appeal to you when you are stuck at home working.

How working from home has changed our wardrobes

Here are 3 ways working from home has changed my wardrobe –

Shopping habits

Like I previously said, this is usually the first thing to change when you start working from home. You realise you don’t need to shop regularly and when you do go shopping, you go for pieces that would keep you comfy at home, but not necessarily glamorous. instead of straight black trousers for example, you may find yourself buying a pair of leggings or joggers.

Accessories take a back seat

I really can’t remember the last time I bought a bag or footwear but then again, I feel like I have loads already and these days I hardly have use for them. Working from home means no commuting so the bags and shoes don’t need to be upgraded.

You shop your closet

Working from home for many also gives them the opportunity to shop their closet. Apart from the fact that there is more time to get dressed which gives you time to dig into your wardrobe, you may also find that you have more confidence to mix and match pieces you may not dare wear to the office. This for me is a big plus. I get to wear all sorts these days in the privacy of my home.

Are you working from home? How has it changed your sense of fashion, your wardrobe and your shopping habits? Please sound off in the comments section below.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Always know there’s help

The workplace environment may not be a place you feel comfortable talking to people, especially if you do not know them as well as your friends and family. But, always know that there is someone you can talk to. For example, if you have had an incident then you can talk to your boss, a colleague, or a federal criminal defense lawyer. If you were the victim of the incident, it needs reporting. If you were involved, the latter option may be the best choice.

Be communicative

In workplaces where there is a fear-based regime, there are secrets. Parenting provides a great metaphor; it is easy to mistakenly think that a spanking will elicit a behavioral change. While it might appear to work in the short term, the long-term ramifications are far too costly. The same goes for the workplace. When everyone is walking on eggshells, employee concerns are buried deep under the surface. This increases the risk of a sudden argument or disagreement.

Regular cleaning

Regular cleaning of any workspace is key to keeping hazards at a minimum. For instance, it is easy to suffer a slip accident in any workplace, from a warehouse to an office if there is something on the floor. Daily cleaning services will prevent or reduce the risk of incidents like this.

Be aware of the risks

Regardless of where you work, you need to understand the potential risks and issues that you might encounter. If your workplace has particular hazards or dangers, then you need to make your staff and co-workers fully aware of what they are and how to avoid those problems. Once you’ve made everyone aware of the hazards, you can work more safely knowing that you and your staff understand the risks in your workplace. They don’t have to be obvious and immediate dangers either like power tools, it could be something specific such as a loose step on the stairs or a faulty power outlet. Make sure these are disabled if possible, or that warning signs are placed around them.

Understand the equipment

If you work in a hazardous workplace, you need to ensure you are using the appropriate safety equipment that is sold by websites like Storemasta and many more. Even if you know how to put the gear on, you might not fully understand how to use it when a situation occurs. Never slack with the process of putting on and maintaining your gear because it’s there for a reason. It’ll save your life and protect you from medical conditions and problems should you encounter them.
