My Acne Story

I have written extensively about acne and various ways to deal with it. So for my True Stories post this month, I decided to write about how my journey with acne started. I started the True Stories series last month with my personal injury story, and it was well received, so expect to read monthly personal true stories.

I have always had a ‘troublesome’ skin. Once I hit puberty, my skin was all over the place with pimples and spots. I remember it being extremely had to tackle. I tried treating my pimples and spots with everything and anything. I even tried applying toothpaste on them overnight, which seem to work but left me with spots to remember. This skin issue went on for all my teenage years and even after. But it went on a whole new level when I went camping in 2007, and had to sleep rough for a few days. I had a massive acne outbreak all over my face, neck and back. It was a horrible sight.

I am not 100% sure of what led to it but I suspect it was the fact that we had horrible living conditions in the camp. I had to sleep rough – on the bare floor the first night. And when I eventually got a bed space, it was more of a hell hole with too many of us. So I guess all that and more made my skin go gaga.

It took months for my skin to return to my regular acne state. I tried everything and I eventually got rid of most of them but I have the acne scars left on my face (God bless the makers of makeup), and loads on my back.

Now for those who don’t know, Acne or Acne Vulgaris is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. So Acne is characterised by whiteheads or blackheads, pimples, spots, greasy skin and in some cases – scarring.

I had blackheads, spots, pimples and a bit of scarring. Some parts of my face were usually greasy too. But I am happy to say I no longer have to deal with acne. It is now a distant memory except for the scars left. However I know many people have to deal with their acne and scars everyday and I know how frustrating it can be.

The good news is there is now a treatment for acne scars in form of the Laser Acne Scar Removal Treatment. This laser treatment tackles the appearance of acne scars on every area of the body. The treatment is fast, easy and it improves the overall texture and condition of the skin.

The video above explains the treatment process at Pulse Light Clinic London in detail. It is definitely worth watching.

The Benefits of a Face Mask

face-mask-picture

I like treating myself to a face mask every now again. It soothes my skin and my mind, putting me in a very relaxing state.

Face masks form a usual part of an effective skin care regimen, and are one of the easiest ways to give your face the treatment it needs. The weather, central heating, stress, lack of sleep, and other harmful elements in the air can rob your skin off life, vigor and beauty. With a face mask you’ll give your face the necessary care in just a couple of minutes.

Face masks can come in different forms, colours and textures. We have the clay-based masks that have to be washed off after a couple of minutes of sitting on your face. Another type is the liquid form which dries into a sheet that you can easily peel off. Some face masks are made from artificial products while others are made from natural products that come straight from the kitchen or garden.

Whatever the face mask is made of, face masks have a lot of benefits for the skin. Here are a few reasons why you should pamper yourself with a face mask today and why your skin will thank you for it.

  1. Easy to use and quick improvement to your skin

I find this the most impressive quality of face masks. Face masks can be applied on your face and left for as little as 5-15 minutes and the changes you’ll notice on your face are quite amazing for such a short period of time.

Whenever I use a face mask I see changes immediately after washing it off. My skin looks and feels soft and supple. I consider face masks one of the fastest and most effective steps in a skin care regimen.

  1. Cleanses the pores of your skin

I know it may sound strange that a messy-looking face mask could cleanse your pores. Face masks, depending on the type of face mask you use, have the power to remove impurities from the pores of your skin. The ingredients in the face masks have the ability to penetrate deep into your skin and remove those impurities. Apart from this, face masks help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin smooth and clear.

  1. Keeps your skin hydrated

The water from the face mask helps to keep your skin moisturized. As the face mask moisturizes your skin, your skin becomes soft and plump, and the elasticity of your skin increases.

  1. Makes your skin look more youthful

Face masks help to tighten your skin minimizing the appearances of fine lines on your skin. The contents of face masks promote collagen production in your skin. This gives your skin a more youthful glow. In addition to this, your skin will feel softer and look smoother as well.

  1. Improves your skin tone

Face masks are quite effective in dealing with hyperpigmentation. The active ingredients in the face mask help to tone your skin and lighten the dark patches and spots on your face.  Those ingredients not only even your skin tone, they also improve the texture of your skin.

Do you use a face mask regularly? Which do you swear by?

Rosacea Skin Condition & Treatment

Skin conditions are a pain. Many of us have to deal with them every now and again, so it always excites when I hear there is a treatment available or recommended lifestyle changes to combat an annoying skin condition. Some of you may suffer from Rosacea, or may know someone who does. For those who have never heard of Rosacea skin condition, it is a medical condition, where the veins in the face enlarge giving the face a slightly or very red appearance. It typically begins after the age of 30, although it can start before. The cheeks nose, chin or forehead are usually the affected areas on the face. At first, the redness will just come and go but as time passes, it tends to get darker and more chronic. If left untreated, the veins start to become visible, bumps and pimples start to develop, and in more severe cases the nose can become swollen and bumpy and the eyes irritated, watery and bloodshot. So this is a very serious medical skin condition.

I have seen a few people with this skin condition but I never knew what the name of the condition until very recently. At the moment, there is no known medical cure for the Rosacea skin condition but there are treatments available. These treatments tackle the symptoms and flare ups to make life manageable. The first place I would advise anyone to visit for a Rosacea Treatment would be Pulse Light Clinic London, and I would tell you why, but before I do that, watch this video by the clinic, it would answer many of your burning questions.

Pulse Light Clinic tackle the Rosacea skin medical condition with the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment for the symptoms and a nutritional consultation from a qualified nutritionist for the lifestyle changes. This combination of these 2 effective treatment methods is what makes Pulse Light Clinic stand out from the rest. This treatment is for both men and women, it works on facial redness, bumps and pimples, and on all skin types.

If you are dealing with the Rosacea skin condition, you shouldn’t have to deal with it alone. Contact Pulse Light Clinic to book in a free consultation and patch-test to get started. You can reach them via email – info@pulselightclinic.co.uk or telephone 02075235158.
