On the newsstands cover, Karen Elson is wearing a Gucci dress and Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery, and she looks fabulous. I love the photo, I think it is a great shot, the fox looks gorgeous with her, and the location –  a Palladian mansion in Kent, looks so beautiful. I wonder who owns it.

I must confess, I have never heard of Karen Elson until this cover, so although it looks like an interesting issue, I am not in hurry to read it. I would love to listen to her songs though, her new album sounds like it would be a good one, so I will be looking out for that on Spotify when next I am chanced.

Here, Karen Elson is wearing Dior Haute Couture, and looking magical! She has a very distinct look, with her slender figure, copper curls and milky pale skin. She is the definition of a wild English rose.

Here are a few excerpts from Karen’s interview with Harper’s Bazaar –

On her divorce from rockstar Jack White

I view him as a 50/50 partner and I would never want to have his role diminished. We adore our kids and we’re close – we have to be for our children.

‘In the days when my parents split up, it was “never speak to your father again” kind of thing, and I don’t have that attitude at all… I’ve seen when people have terrible break-ups, when a person is bitter, it’s not good for your kids, it’s not good for your family. I’ve seen a lot of that, and I don’t ever want it.’

The Grass is not Always Greener

I came across the current news all over the internet, about a certain popular American Fashion Blogger – Shaniqua Jordan, being arrested and charged with credit card fraud! She was allegedly shopping with her customers credit cards (she has an online jewellery store); buying luxury fashion items of about $37,000, and showing them off on Instagram. Shaniqua Jordan is known for her love for high-end designer items and these items usually keep her fans increasing and followers talking.

I can see how Shaniqua Jordan would have been tempted to do what she has been accused of doing. As an insider, I see it everyday on social media and it is quite sad to see the amount of pressure many fashion bloggers put on themselves to look the part and it is really not worth the stress! Fashion Blogging isn’t all about styling expensive pieces. There is a lot more to it. I see many people walking around in expensive outfits that look horrid, so it’s not just about the price tag of what you wear.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love luxury items a lot. I like how real leather feels and smells. I love shopping in the high-end stores, and I love the quality high street stores as well. Give me Gucci, Givenchy, and all them big luxury brands any day, I would have them all if I could.

If I could afford a Birkin, I would have it. If I could afford a Rolex watch, I would go for it. But my reality today is that I can’t, and I am comfortable with what I can afford. I am happy to blog about what I can afford, and that is the key.

Many bloggers are not happy to show off what they can afford, and that is the main problem. They want to be like the “mega big bloggers” they follow online. So they end up having a massive debt in the name of fashion blogging, or steal to keep up with the fake online image. And this issue is not only in the blogging industry, it is a general problem. Too many people want all the flashy things but without the work.

I can imagine how anyone could be pressured to live a lie thanks to the power of social media, with the amazing shots, perfect spouses, well behaved children, beautiful house, many holidays and perfect outfits. It is easy to want these same things and there is no harm in wanting them as far as you are ready to earn them honestly. So if you want to go on more holidays or buy nicer things, start saving, if you want your house to look pretty, clean it more often, if you want to be able to afford luxury items, get a better paying job or increase your income streams. Be prepared to do what you can to elevate your lifestyle in an honest way.

Another point I would love to make is, when it comes to social media, especially Instagram (which seems to be notorious for showing off picture perfect lives), take all you see with a pinch of salt. Most of the time, it is not what or how it seems, so don’t be deceived. Instead, admire what you like, but always focus on your reality and own it! Believe me, life is too short to do anything else.

Daria Werbowy Covers Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2016

Bazaar_028_1

Daria Werbowy is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2016 issue, looking good. This is a gorgeous shot. I think the cover girl looks very beautiful with her flawless natural makeup and hair. I must confess, I didn’t know who Daria Werbowy was, so a quick Google search gave me the answers I needed. She is a 32-year-old Ukrainian Canadian model, born in Krakow, Poland, and later emigrated to Toronto, Canada with her family at the age of 3.

Daria Werbowy is best known as a spokesperson for the French beauty brand – Lancôme. However, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry like; Prada, Gucci, Hermes, Valentino, and YSL, to name a few.

I think this cover is great, the shot catches my eye, and I am sure it will stand out on the newsstands, but the articles featured in this issue are not listed on the cover, and that is a massive issue for me. I like to see the hottest features on the cover to be sure I will be having a good read, and this cover doesn’t reveal much.

However, according to the editor’s letter, Dana will be opening up in her interview, and telling us how she has broken free of the confines of a conventional modelling career, stepping away from the relentless schedule of catwalk shows, and discovering the freedom to do what she most enjoys (sailing, surfing and photography).

The letter also states that there will be some creative fashion stories featuring Carine Roitfeld’s gloriously diverse choice of models; a beautiful celebration of spring florals by Erik Madigan Heck and Leith Clark; and an ethereal woodland fantasy by Regan Cameron and Miranda Almond. For the fashion lovers, this issue promises not to disappoint, so I may be grabbing a copy.
