Celebrity Wedding Dresses to Remember

I remember shopping around for my wedding dress many years ago; it was a fabulous experience. It didn’t take me too long to decide on a dress. I knew exactly what I wanted, and what bridal accessories I needed, and once I wore the dress, I knew it was the one.

Most wedding dresses, and weddings in general tend to cost a fortune. Just take a look at this well researched infographic, thanks to JJ Suspenders. This infographic explains the average wedding costs, so it is great a more great visual explanation, for those who are not aware.

This infographic is based on the cost of products and services in the US, but is also very similar to what we have here in the UK and most parts of the world. Weddings are generally expensive, and a big chunk of a wedding budget is spent on the wedding dress.

The good thing about shopping for wedding dresses is that there are so many options available. And we can also take inspiration from many celebrity brides and recreate more affordable alternatives.

Here are 3 celebrity wedding dresses that caught my eye –

Solange

I remember doing a double take when I first spotted this wedding dress. Solange broke the internet with this Humberto Leon for Kenzo floor-length gown with an attached cape, and it is so easy to see why. I don’t see anyone else pulling this look like Solange. This wedding dress is so her, it suits her style and personality, I guess that is why she nailed the look so effortlessly.

Ciara

Ciara slayed it in this Roberto Cavalli dress designed by Peter Dundas. I love the style of the wedding dress; the detailing is superb, and it looks amazing on her.

This is obviously a very expensive dress, but I am sure there are similar less pricey alternatives for brides to be.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian also broke the internet with this stunning Haute Couture Givenchy. This dress is the TRUTH! It is great for those with a bit of curves; it will show off your figure in all the right places. I love it on her; she looked stunning.

What are your thoughts on the infographic? What do you think of these wedding dresses? Which is your favourite and why?

Marloes Horst Covers Marie Claire May 2016

may-issue-cover-16

Hey peeps. I have another magazine cover post for you. You know how much I love my British magazines, right? They give me life, and keep me entertained, but some of them do not quite hit the spot, and the cover plays a major role in determining whether I would part with my cash to get an issue or not, and that is the whole idea behind this magazine cover series. I like us to have a virtual conversation, to see what magazine covers people are interested in, our thoughts on the cover star and design, as well as the features on the cover. So let’s get right into it.

Marloes Horst is on the cover of Marie Claire May 2016 issue, and she looks lovely on it. This cover looks great. I love the pose and the Roberto Cavalli outfit looks quite interesting. I have never heard of Marloes Horst before now, had to do a quick Google search on her to discover who she was and what she does, but I am not complaining. I love reading about new people, and a fresh face always interests me.

Marloes Horst is a model, no surprise there, they seem to be on most magazine covers at the moment. Apart from the fact that she models, and is the spokesperson for Maybelline, I couldn’t find anything else on her.

Some of the features look promising like, The Hot Denim Trends, Change your Career Without Going Broke, and Lessons from my Sex Therapist. However, I know for a fact that I won’t be buying this issue. With the unknown cover girl, and ‘OK’ features, it just doesn’t scream buy me, to me.

What do you think of this Marie Claire cover? Are you a fan of Marloes Horst? Drop me a comment, let’s chat.

Kim Kardashian’s 2015 MET GALA Dress

I believe in giving honour to whom honour is due, and that rule applies to every one and every situation. Last night, at the MET GALA, Kim Kardashian stepped out in this gorgeous white and gold Roberto Cavalli dress and she claims the dress was inspired by Cher, and then the Beehives (they don’t mess about) came for her on her Instagram page saying she copied Beyoncé’s MET GALA 2012 Givenchy dress.

CHER MET GALA

Now both dresses and even the staircase pose look awfully similar, her dress looks more similar to Beyoncé’s than Cher’s, but I guess it will hurt her ‘brand’ so much to say Beyoncé inspired her dress, with the rivalry and the love and hate relationship they both have going on. It is easier for Kim Kardashian to claim her dress inspiration is from Cher than from Beyoncé. My question is why bother telling us where you got your inspiration from? Especially when it is an obvious lie. If you are going to copy, do it with your head held up high and no explanations. The Beehives might not have noticed?
