Celebrity Wedding Dresses to Remember

I remember shopping around for my wedding dress many years ago; it was a fabulous experience. It didn’t take me too long to decide on a dress. I knew exactly what I wanted, and what bridal accessories I needed, and once I wore the dress, I knew it was the one.

Most wedding dresses, and weddings in general tend to cost a fortune. Just take a look at this well researched infographic, thanks to JJ Suspenders. This infographic explains the average wedding costs, so it is great a more great visual explanation, for those who are not aware.

This infographic is based on the cost of products and services in the US, but is also very similar to what we have here in the UK and most parts of the world. Weddings are generally expensive, and a big chunk of a wedding budget is spent on the wedding dress.

The good thing about shopping for wedding dresses is that there are so many options available. And we can also take inspiration from many celebrity brides and recreate more affordable alternatives.

Here are 3 celebrity wedding dresses that caught my eye –

Solange

I remember doing a double take when I first spotted this wedding dress. Solange broke the internet with this Humberto Leon for Kenzo floor-length gown with an attached cape, and it is so easy to see why. I don’t see anyone else pulling this look like Solange. This wedding dress is so her, it suits her style and personality, I guess that is why she nailed the look so effortlessly.

Ciara

Ciara slayed it in this Roberto Cavalli dress designed by Peter Dundas. I love the style of the wedding dress; the detailing is superb, and it looks amazing on her.

This is obviously a very expensive dress, but I am sure there are similar less pricey alternatives for brides to be.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian also broke the internet with this stunning Haute Couture Givenchy. This dress is the TRUTH! It is great for those with a bit of curves; it will show off your figure in all the right places. I love it on her; she looked stunning.

What are your thoughts on the infographic? What do you think of these wedding dresses? Which is your favourite and why?

Celebrity Style: Solange in David LaPort at MET Gala 2016

solange-met-gala-2016-red-carpet

If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for a while now, you would have noticed I stopped writing about best and worst dressed red carpet dresses and so on. I use to write about them until fairly recently, I think I stopped pretty much this year. I lost interest, and I have decided to only write about what I want to write about, and what my readers would enjoy reading. You won’t enjoy reading what I have no interest in writing, so it is best for me to lose out on the traffic that comes with those kind of posts, than to bore you guys silly.

I may feel like writing about red carpet sightings and dresses in the future, but for now, I am so not in the mood, and I can’t be bothered. So you will be won’t be reading those kind of posts on Fashion and Style Police anytime soon. What you will continue to be reading as far as celebrity style is concerned, would be – Yay or Nay, Style Icon, Beauty Muse and Who Wore It Better. I may be introducing more celebrity style series in future, and there may be one-offs as well, but for now these will do.

I will be going into more detail with the ‘Yay or Nay’, and ‘Who Wore It Better’ posts, so instead of you just telling me if you like the outfit, and who wore it better, I would be telling you what I think of the outfits as well. It is time to live up to my blog name.

So today we are dissecting Solange’s style on the 2016 MET Gala red carpet. She wore this bright yellow ensemble by the Amsterdam based fashion designer; David LaPort. I am not sure what to make of this outfit. I am usually a fan of anything Solange has on, even if it is a paper bag, but I am on the face with this outfit. It looks all over the place, and a little bit uncomfortable as well. I mean, how would she sit or wee comfortably with piece on, I have no idea.

The Style Icons – Mary-Kate Olsen & Ashley Olsen

I just took a ‘Who Is Your Style Icon’ test on Buzzfeed and my result was a SOLANGE. Now why am I not surprised with the result at all?

Who Is Your Style Icon?

  1. You got: Solange

You’ve got amazing boho-chic style, and work bright colors and bold patterns and prints like no other.

Now I am not sure about the working of bold patterns and prints bit, I usually shy away from prints as much as I can but I love Solange’s style so I guess there is a bit of her in me. She is a Style Icon and a Beauty Muse.

Now to the style icons of the week, say hello to the stylish Olsen Twins – Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen.

The multi-millionaire Olsen twins need no introduction. They have taken the fashion industry by storm and they are not stopping anytime soon. I have been a fan of their style for as long as I can remember and they always step up their game every time they step out. These women are trend setters in the fashion industry and I am interested in every accessory and piece I see on them.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen refuse to be defined by fashion or style rules; they break fashion rules quite regularly but it works for them. They make fashions donts doable if that makes sense. Their signature styles amaze me.

The Olsen twins are regularly spotted wearing neutral pieces and little or no makeup. Their signature style is boho-chic, minimalistic, and always fearless. They take fashion risks on and off the red carpet, they know what pieces and colours suit them best and they stick to them religiously.
