The Kiddies Go To Farm

We had a very busy weekend. The kiddies went for their swimming classes, played for hours in the garden splashing in the pool, playing with bubbles, football and letting loose in the sun. And we ended the fun weekend with a trip to our local farm – Stockley Farm, in Cheshire, which was a lovely experience. How was your weekend?

Thoughts on Stockley Farm

It was good fun. The weather was dead warm at almost 30 degrees. And the kiddies were loving it. This was our first trip to a farm as a family and I was well impressed. The trip to the farm started with a tractor ride which was the highlight of the day. Then we had the opportunity to go round the farm, popping into the many animal barns to see the animals. The kids even got the opportunity to feed some of them. It was a good family day out for sure. We will be doing it again for sure. There are quite a few farms around us in Cheshire, which we will be exploring this summer.

There was also a soft play available, and a playground which was a nice surprise. I didn’t think the farm would have all those as well but it did, and it kids made sure they made the most of them.

Days out are always fun for the whole family when done right and this was a great experience all around. I really liked the fact that the tractors that took us to and fro the farm were both prompt. Since we had to park our car in a car park a mile away from the farm, and catch the tractor. The last thing I wanted was to hang around waiting for a tractor. But thankfully we didn’t have to.

How To Choose The Right Career For You

Many people say when you find a job that you love, then you will never work a day in your life. Unfortunately, finding that perfect job is far from easy. From a very young age we’re asked what it is that we want to be when we grow up, and although “princess” and “dinosaur” are fair answers for a child, there comes the point when people expect a serious one. However, this isn’t a simple decision to make. After all, there are so many different careers out there for you to consider, and this is such a huge decision that could affect your entire life. To help you make yours, here are some great tips.

Know Your Strengths

Before you can look at any careers, it’s important that you consider the strengths, skills, and knowledge you already possess. After all, you can complete training and learn new things to get jobs, but it’s much easier for you and potential employers if you already know what you’re doing. If you have an accounting diploma, for example, then working as a chartered accountant might be ideal. You should make a list of all of the skills and qualifications you have and match them to jobs you like the sound of.

Find Your Passion

Everyone needs to work because everyone needs money, but you’ll find that life is so much more enjoyable if you find a job you genuinely like. Of course, it might be easier for you to become a chartered accountant, because of your diploma, but you have to understand that it’s one of the UK’s hardest jobs, so you’re going to need to be passionate too, or you won’t have the motivation required to get things done. Because of this, you should consider your interests and passions while looking at careers.

Carry Out Thorough Research

While you may have a particular passion you want to explore further and develop into a career, you may need certain qualifications for the role you have in mind. To ensure you end up in a career you enjoy and can see yourself in for the long-term, research the role thoroughly and find out how you can progress. You may need to enroll in a course to enhance your knowledge, and there are some careers where you may need to spend a few years studying beforehand. For example, to become a doctor there are requirements for medical school you need to meet, such as completing a four-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject. By carrying out detailed research, it will help give you an idea of any necessary qualifications needed to advance and succeed in your chosen career.

Take A Test

If you’ve done this work and still feel pretty confused, then you could take a career test. These tend to assess your skills, strengths, and passions, like what you tried to do above, but do so by asking you a set of questions that you need to answer in a set time frame. Once you’ve finished your questions, your answers are assessed, and you are generally given three or four career options that should suit you and offer fulfillment. You can find these types of tests easily on the internet, or could alternatively visit a career counselor for help.

Consider Your Options

Once you have a list of careers that match up with your strengths and interests, you need to consider all other aspects of your life to see which of these careers is most suited to you. If you’re a single parent, for example, then a job where you can work from home would be a lot more suited than one where you work long shifts and your hours change every week. Another important fact to take into consideration is driving. If you can’t drive, you’ll also have to consider how you’ll get to work every day, which might also affect your decision. If you’re struggling to make a decision, then seek help from a professional or loved one.

Choosing a career is a big decision, so take your time and find one that will make you genuinely happy.

Cheshire Feels Like California

The Lovely Weather in Cheshire

I was telling a friend the other day, how crazy this whole weather thing is. I would never have predicted the warm weather we are currently experiencing. Cheshire feels like California. The weather has been dead warm for weeks now which is very usual for us here in Cheshire. And it has been pretty warm in most parts of the UK. We usually have a very short summer, much later in the year. But this year, we skipped spring altogether, and dived right into the warm weather.

I like the weather to a certain extent. It feels great to not hear the corny jokes about how horrible the British weather. They get boring sometimes. It also feels great to be able to style our summer pieces.

We have been making the most of the lovely sunshine as much as possible. Our summer wardrobes are looking good. We are enjoying the fact that we can wear less and lighter clothes. The kids have worn shorts all week, and we always have our sun cream with us for protection. How is the weather where you are?

Bring on the Weekend

The weekend is almost here and I am seriously looking forward to it. I am looking forward to it so much that I have been busy reading a book with funny weekend quotes and Saturday quotes to get me even more in the mood. My Hay Fever has been a lot better this week thanks to changes in my lifestyle. I have been implementing the Hay Fever Tips I shared on the blog some weeks ago, and my overall health has improved. I hope it keeps improving. Hay Fever is one of the most uncomfortable illness to have.

This week has been very busy and it has been hard being on top of everything thanks to the half term holiday we enjoyed the last week. We spent the holiday in Chelmsford, Essex; and we had a terrific time with the family. We didn’t want the holiday to come to an end. Which is always the case when we get together with the crew. How was your half term week? Do you have any weekend plans?

Hired: Six Months Undercover in Low-Wage Britain

I have been reading Hired: Six Months Undercover in Low-Wage Britain by James Bloodworth and it is quite an interesting read. It is all about the author going undercover to work in many companies to discover what life is really like for the workers. I found the book informing, enlightening and very disturbing. It is shocking to see how big corporations treat their staff. And how many people live from hand to mouth. Reading this book has made me even more grateful for even the little things. I hear about how many people struggle to survive on low-income jobs, with many on zero contract jobs in London and I find it worrying. It is a book worth reading for sure.

Reading  Hired: Six Months Undercover in Low-Wage Britain also brought back memories of some of the previous jobs I had. I once worked in a call centre in Bristol whilst studying for my masters in International Human Resources at the University of the West of England (UWE). I had a zero hours contract with the company. But the good thing then was I wasn’t bothered. I had enough money to survive at uni, the money from job was just extra money to shop with. But that isn’t the case with many others. Many people solely relied on the income to survive and having a zero hours contract meant work was never guaranteed.

I still remember how many times I would be booked to come into work, only to get a call an hour or 2 before to be told I was no longer needed for the day. It was my first job in the UK, and this was around the year 2008/2009. It was quite experience, and I would never forget it.

Good all that is now a distant memory and this is now my reality. When I remember where I am coming from, I am thankful, and it makes me work even harder. I am looking to keep doing what I do and improve in what needs improvement. My plan is to work on my blog SEO and draw in even more traffic. I found an SEO services London company, and I am seriously considering having them on board.

How do you attract more blog traffic? Please share your tips. Have you ever visited Cheshire? What do you think of the county in general?
